What Do Tim Myers, Chris Cavender, Casey Mayes, Elizabeth Bright, and Melissa Glazer Have in Common?

June 2, 2008

So, you may ask, just what DO they have in common?

Tim Myers is the author of three series: the Soapmaking Mystery Series, the Candlemaking Mystery Series, and the Lighthouse Inn Mystery Series.

Elizabeth Bright is the author of the Card-Making Mystery Series.

Melissa Glazer is the author of the Clay & Crime Mystery Series.

Chris Cavender is the author of the Pizza Lover’s Mystery Series.

Casey Mayes is the author of the Math Puzzle Mystery Series. (I have yet to make the Mayes page…)

The above information is very well-known. But, did you know that all three of these authors are one in the same person? While I was vacationing in beautiful Colorado I was sent an e-mail by a trusty, well-informed source (yep, the librarian I spoke about in at least one other blog)  who let me in on the latest disclosure: Melissa Glazer could be added to the pseudonym list for Tim Myers!

So, for all of you Tim Myers fans: You now have more books to enjoy by your favorite author! Actually, the same goes for all of you Elizabeth Bright fans, as well as all of you Melissa Glazer, Chris Cavender, and Casey Mayes fans!

Again, I have to thank Janet (my special source of all types of cozy mystery news) for letting me know that Melissa Glazer could be added to the list of Tim Myers pseudonyms.

***** And now you can add “Jessica Beck” to the list of pseudonyms!

Hectic Summer Weeks…

May 31, 2008

I wish that I could say that the past few months have been hectic… spending time with my daughter. Unfortunately, it has only been a few weeks since she got back from college, and already she has left for the summer!

We had to cram doctors’ appointments in before heading out on our "road trip" to Colorado. We took a week to drive up and visit my brother and my mother and her beau, and that was indeed hectic… As it turns out, I think that we spent more time driving than actually visiting! Once back from Colorado it was back to more appointments… a lot of "busy time."

Yesterday, my husband and I drove our daughter to her summer job and got her situated so that she can begin work on Monday. Already I miss her! It sure is difficult when our "little ones" grow up, isn’t it?

As I sit here typing this blog, I am thinking of several friends who have had their "little ones" grow up WAY TOO FAST! They, too, have to rely on cell phones and emails to keep in touch with their children.

One of my friends has a son who visited last month and her daughter is visiting this month… Life is good!

Two friends have daughters who have returned to live "back home" with their own children… Grandchildren bring all of the fun, but none of the strict rules… Can’t beat that!

My sister has been lucky… Both of her grown children live in the same city as she does… They have become her best friends (and allies!) And, my husband and I have been very fortunate because our son lives right here in San Antonio.

Hey there, Baby Girl, I sure do miss you! … BUT… The moral of this blog is probably best found by NOT looking at a gift horse while holding a half-full glass!

Adaptations of Agatha Christie's Plays…

May 27, 2008

While I was on vacation last week, I got an interesting request from a site reader:

"I have a book entitled Black Coffee which is an adaptation of something by Agatha Christie by Charles Osborne.  Do you know of any other authors who have adapted her work into books?  I’ve found two more he did and ordered them, but would like to know if there are any more by other authors.

Thank you."

Black Coffee was a play written by Christie which was adapted into a novel by Charles Osborne. To be honest, I didn’t know that even one author had adapted one of her plays. When I looked at Amazon, I found the two other books that Osborne adapted from two other Agatha Christie plays: The Unexpected Guest and Spider’s Web.

Does anyone out there in Cozy Mystery cyberspace know of any other authors who have adapted one of Christie’s plays into novels? If you do… We would love to hear from you!

Back Home… I Think!

May 25, 2008

I am guessing that I am back home by now… and very tired! (This is my last post-dated blogs…)

I love Colorado Springs! My parents moved there when I was in college, so "going home" as an adult was always Colorado Springs for me. After teaching school for a short time in Iowa, I felt like I wanted to move where I had family… so Colo. Sprgs. was the perfect destination.  I taught Middle School – Special Ed while working on my Master’s degree… and I really feel at home there. Also, when our children were young, we lived there for a year. So, I feel like I have spent a considerable amount of time there.

Each time I go back I try to take in the same sights that I recognize from back then… but each time I find it more difficult to get around. Colorado Springs has grown… like most other cities in the USA. This time, I will be glad to have a GPS with us so that we can maneuver the new streets in the new areas. (My daughter is going to have to do the navigating, since I don’t know (yet!?) how to use the GPS.)

Anyway,  I should be back home by now… and perhaps taking a vacation after my vacation!
