Maggie Bishop, James Hime, Amy Metz, Lane Stone, & Lois Winston – 5 Author Additions to the Cozy Mystery Site

June 26, 2013

Since I have well over 100 authors on my “Authors to Post” list, I thought that I would try to get some of them posted. (Every time I post new authors, I get letters with even more authors for me to post.)

Here are the five newest mystery author additions to the Cozy Mystery site:

Maggie Bishop  Bishop writes the Appalachian Adventure Mystery Series. This series involves the daughter of the owners of a guest house ranch in North Carolina. Jemma Chase (the daughter) comes home to help on the ranch. She not only sleuths, but also has some very good carpentry skills.

James Hime  Hime’s first mystery in his Jeremiah Spur Mystery Series was nominated for 2004’s impressive Edgar Award – Best First Novel. The series features a retired Texas Ranger in a small town in Texas.

Amy Metz  Metz is a former school teacher who writes the Goose Pimple Junction Mystery Series. Goose Pimple Junction is the quaint, little town in the south where Tess Tremaine lives and sleuths.

Lane Stone  Stone writes the Tiara Investigations Mystery Series, which features three middle-aged former beauty queens who sleuth. These women have replaced their beauty queen tiaras with their Standard Schnauzers.

Lois Winston  Winston writes the Anastasia Pollack Crafting Mystery Series. This series features a widow (mother of two) who is the craft editor at a New Jersey crafting magazine. Winston has won awards for her needlework and craft designs.

Cassandra Chan, Roberta Gellis, Susan Elia MacNeal, Bernadette Pajers, & Debbie Viguié – 5 Author Additions to the Cozy Mystery Site

June 24, 2013

I have just added five new mystery authors to the Cozy Mystery site. These authors are some of the authors who you all have recommended to me as belonging on the site. (I haven’t read any of them yet.)

Cassandra Chan writes the Phillip Bethancourt & Jack Gibbons Mystery Series. Bethancourt is the rich friend of Gibbons, a sergeant at Scotland Yard.

Roberta Gellis writes the Magdâline la Batarde Mystery Series. Magdâline is a madame in a London brothel during the 12th century.

Susan Elia MacNeal‘s Maggie Hope Mystery Series is set during the 1940s in London. MacNeal’s series features an American typist who is privy to many secrets.

Bernadette Pajer pens the Professor Bradshaw Mystery Series. This series is set during the early 1900s and has a professor of electrical engineering as its sleuth. Professor Bradshaw not only teaches in Washington (the state), but he is also an inventor.

Debbie Viguié writes the Psalms 23 Mystery Series. The mysteries in this series are set during different holidays, and feature Cindy Preston (a church secretary) and Rabbi Jeremiah Silverman.

2013 PBS Masterpiece Mystery Schedule

June 21, 2013

Yikes! I don’t know how this happened, but I didn’t get this post put up in time to tell you about the Inspector Lewis, series VI starting this past Sunday night. If these times aren’t convenient for you, check to see when your local PBS station re-runs the shows.

2013 PBS Masterpiece Mystery line up:

INSPECTOR LEWIS, Series VI (all of the shows are 90 minutes long and are slated to run at 9:00 Eastern time zone)
Yes, Inspector Lewis (Kevin Whately) and his trusty Detective Sergeant Hathaway (Laurence Fox) are back on the job!

June 23, 2013 —– The Ramblin’ Boy
Actually, D.S. Hathaway is on vacation…

June 30, 2013 —– Intelligent Design
(Do you see the family likeness between Edward and Lawrence Fox?)

ENDEAVOR, Series I (all of the shows are 90 minutes long and are slated to run at 9:00 Eastern time zone)
Detective Inspector Fred Thursday (Roger Allum) helps mold Detective Constable Endeavor Morse (Shaun Evans) into the Morse (John Thaw) we all came to love. (Abigail Thaw, John Thaw’s daughter, is a special guest star – playing Dorothea Frazil.)

July 14, 2013 —– Fugue

July 21, 2013 —– Rocket

July 28, 2013 —– Home

SILK  (all of the shows are 2 hours long and are slated to run at 9:00 Eastern time zone)

September 1, 2013 —– Silk, Part 2

September 8, 2013 —– Silk, Part 3

FOYLE’S WAR, Series VII (all of the shows are 90 minutes long and are slated to run at 9:00 Eastern time zone)
It’s now 1946, and Detective Chief Superintendent Christopher Foyle (Michael Kitchen) has returned from America, and is ready to take on crime in England! Lucky for us, he will be reuniting with Sam (Honeysuckle Weeks)!

September 15, 2013 —– The Eternity Ring

September 22, 2013 —– The Cage

September 29, 2013 —– Sunflower

Looks like a great PBS Mystery! season – or should I say Masterpiece Mystery?

The Jury’s In… or Should I Say Out?

June 20, 2013

I’m not sure how I feel about this, but I wasn’t selected to sit on a jury yesterday. It is the second time that I actually got named as a possible, but it’s also the second time that the parties were able to determine a deal before the voir dire process began. On the one hand I’m glad that I won’t have to drive to and from downtown every day during the two rush hours, but I’m sort of sorry I won’t be part of the judicial process.

(Not at all related to being on a jury >>> It was nice coming home and finding that my husband had missed me!)
