One New Mystery Series, Two New Cozy Holiday Releases Coming April 2017

We will have one new Cozy Mystery Series beginning in April 2017, and two new holiday-themed Cozy releases! I decided to compile these into a single post, since each would be a bit short otherwise.

 Nell Hampton will be releasing Kale to the Queen, the first book in her Kensington Palace Chef Mystery Series. American Carrie Ann Cole has just become personal chef to the royal family in Kensington Palace, when one of her assistants turns up dead and the other turns out to be the chief suspect. Carrie will need to discover who truly committed the crime to put her kitchens back in order. Nell Hampton also writes as Nancy J. Parra, under which name she wrote the Baker’s Treat Mystery Series, starring a gluten-free baker in Kansas, and the Perfect Proposals Mystery Series, starring a wedding event planner. She also writes under the Candy-Coated Mystery Series under the name Nancy Coco, starring the owner of a  fudge shop in her family’s historic hotel in Michigan.

 Kathi Daley will be releasing Easter Escapade, the 24th book in her Zoe Donovan Mystery Series. A crossover with her Sand and Sea Mystery Series, Luke and Lani are visiting from Hawaii when a historian visiting Ashton falls turns up dead. They’ll need to team up with Zoe and Zak to discover who killed the historian, and hopefully retrieve the dead man’s stolen treasure map! Daley also writes the TJ Jensen Paradise Lake Mystery Series and the Whales and Tails Mystery Series.

Finally, Gayle Leeson will be releasing Silence of the Jams, a Fourth of July themed Cozy and the 2nd in her Down South Cafe Mystery Series. When the local Chamber of Commerce director turns up dead on the Fourth of July, Amy Flowers quickly becomes a prime suspect, as he had been attempting to purchase her small cafe to convert the property into a bed & breakfast. Amy will need to track down the true culprit in order to prove her own innocence. Gayle Leeson also writes the Daphne Martin Cake Mystery Series and Myrtle Crumb Mystery Series under the name Gayle Trent and the Embroidery Mystery Series under the name Amanda Lee.

New Releases – March 6 to March 12, 2017

Here is the list of new release for March 6 to March 12!

Margaret Atwood: The Burgess Shale (This will be a non-fiction look at the Canadian literary landscape of the 1960s.)

Laura Bradford (aka Elizabeth Lynn Casey): Silence of the Flans (This will be the 2nd in the Emergency Dessert Squad Mystery Series.)

Laura Childs: Pekoe Most Poison (This will be the 18th in the Tea Shop Mystery Series.)

Sarah Dunant: In The Name of the Family (This will be a Stand Alone. This is not a mystery.)

Mary Anna Evans: Burials (This will be the 10th in the Faye Longchamp Mystery Series.)

Kay Hooper: Wait for Dark (This will be the 8th in the Bishop Special Crimes Units Mystery Series.)

Kelly Lane: Cold Pressed Murder (This will be the 2nd in the Olive Grove Mystery Series.)

Kylie Logan (aka Miranda Bliss & Casey Daniels): Gone with the Twins (This will be the 5th in the League of Literary Ladies Mystery Series.)

Cozy Mystery News – March 2017

Yow! Finally – I have some Cozy Mystery news! And, it’s exactly the type of news I like to tell you all about – especially since I’ve gotten several emails asking me about Ellery Adams (aka Jennifer Stanley, J. B. Stanley & Lucy Arlington).

Some of you may remember a blog entry I posted on Dec. 16, 2016 about Ellery Adams. (What’s the Cozy News?) Ellery Adams’s Book Retreat Mystery Series has a three book contract with Kensington Publishers. (Let’s hope it goes so well that there will be even more than three in this series’ future!) Kensington will also start publishing Ellery’s The Secret Book and Scone Society in hardcover format, and they have committed to at least three books in this series. Great news!

Here’s some more great news! Ellie Alexander writes the popular Bakeshop Mystery Series, and the Pacific Northwest Mystery Series as Kate Dyer-Seeley. She has signed on to write three more Cozies in her Bakeshop Mystery Series. Didn’t I say this is great news?

All of us who are fans of Jane K. Cleland‘s Josie Prescott Antiques Mystery Series, there’s another Cozy being worked on. Antique Blues should be out for us to enjoy next winter. Can’t wait!

It just keeps getting better! Sheila Connolly (aka Sara Atwell) will be starting a new Cozy Mystery series! This Cozy series takes place in a town that is now a Victorian village vacation destination. Sounds like a lot of fun!

And, finally (since I’m doing this alphabetically), Krista Davis has signed a contract for three more Domestic Diva Cozies! Yahoo!

If you’re like me, you’re always sad to hear when a favorite Cozy author has had to “call it a wrap” – so these five authors writing more Cozies is pretty great news!

Feud: It’s Not Just a Cozy Theme

Cinema: HollywoodThose of you who have been with me for a while know that I absolutely love Hollywood’s Golden Era movies. Actresses like Bette Davis, Barbara Stanwyck, and Joan Crawford are right up there amongst my favorites. If given a movie from yesteryear or a movie from today, there’s absolutely no question in my mind which I would watch!

And, some of you have seen me recommend What Ever Happened to Baby Jane (1962) several times in my monthly movie entries. I have been aware of the hatred both of the stars of that movie had for each other (Bette Davis & Joan Crawford). It’s one of Hollywood’s many-times-told stories.

Well, imagine how elated I am to see that the FX channel will be showing a five-part miniseries about the actresses’ feud, and the making of What Ever Happened to Baby Jane. I am so excited that I have already made it a “One Pass” on my Tivo!

“Feud” will begin airing on Sunday, March 5, and take a look at the cast! Bette Davis (Susan Sarandon), Joan Crawford (Jessica Lange), Hedda Hopper (Judy Davis), the director (Alfred Molina), Olivia de Havilland (Catherine Zeta-Jones), and Joan Blondell (Kathy Bates) are just some of the famous actresses portrayed in the miniseries and those who portray them.

Even though this isn’t a mystery movie, it should be fun to watch for those of us who have repeatedly enjoyed movies starring these actresses. I really am excited about these big-screen names hitting the small screen!
