December will be another really great month for holiday-themed Cozy Mysteries, with five new holiday Cozies by site authors! Unsurprisingly, most of these will be Christmas Cozies.
First up, Lorraine Bartlett and Gayle Leeson will be releasing the fifth book in Lorraine Bartlett’s Victoria Square Mystery Series, Yule Be Dead. This Christmas season will be a bit subdued at Victoria Square, as the daughter of one of the local shop owners has been discovered on the days leading up to the holidays. Katie Bonner, manager of a local collection of booths and shops, will need to sort out a number of potential suspects, including a number of the dead woman’s former romantic interests. Lorraine Bartlett writes a number of other series under various names, including the Lotus Bay Mystery Series, the Booktown Mystery Series (under the pseudonym Lorna Barrett), and the Jeff Resnick Mystery Series (under the name L. L. Bartlett), while Gayle Leeson writes the Down South Cafe Mystery Series, the Daphne Martin Cake Mystery Series and the Myrtle Crumb Mystery Series under the name Gayle Trent, and the Embroidery Mystery Series under the name Amanda Lee.
Next up, Laura Childs will be releasing the 8th in her Cackleberry Club Mystery Series, Eggs on Ice. It isn’t entirely surprising when a local curmudgeonly attorney is stabbed to death, though his that it occured during a rehearsal for a presentation of “A Christmas Carol” is a bit surprising. Suzanne, owner of the Cackleberry Club and amateur sleuth will need to hunt down the true killer, both to bring justice and to help clear her fellow owner’s soon-to-be ex-husband from the suspect list. Laura Childs also writes the Tea Shop Mystery Series and the Scrapbooking Mystery Series.
The last of the Christmas themed Cozies will be Claws for Celebration, the 3rd in Linda Reilly‘s Cat Lady Mystery Series. Lara Caphart, manager of the High Cliff Shelter for Cats, is preparing for Christmas and the town’s annual holiday cooking competition, but the celebration ends prematurely when the last-minute fill-in judge turns up dead, apparently due to one of the festive treats. Unfortunately, the primary suspect is one of Lara’s mother’s best friends, so Lara will need to find the true murderer to make sure every has a happy holiday! Linda Reilly also writes the Deep Fried Mystery Series, which stars a worker at a Fish & Chips restaurant in the Berkshires of Massachusetts.
That may be it for Christmas-themed Cozies, but there’s one more holiday release in December this year, the Halloween themed Do No Harm, the 2nd in Dawn Eastman‘s Dr. Katie LeClair Mystery Series. When an ex-con patient of Katie’s who still professes his innocence disappears and a college student investigating his previous supposed crimes turns up dead, the ex-con seems the most likely suspect, but Katie doesn’t feel comfortable jumping to that conclusion. Dawn Eastman also writes the Family Fortune Mystery Series, starring an ex-policewoman, her tarot card reading mother, and her pet psychic aunt.
