Upcoming Mysteries on Turner Classic Movies for May 2021

April 22, 2021

The Turner Classic Movies channel is beginning the month of May 2021 by showing movies that received Oscar nominations/wins. TCM has an interesting theme on May 5 which answers the question: how would you go about getting rid of a body? This is followed by several movies that take place in the court – I suppose trying to find out who got rid of the body that was “gotten rid of” by the culprit…

TCM will be showing several film noir movies on May 19 — which ought to be fun for a lot of us. And, as I mentioned, there will be court-themed movies as well. The court-themed movies will be aired on a few days of the month. I love it when the channel has theme days that are based on different types of mysteries.

The last three days of May the Turner Classic Movies channel will be airing Memorial Day-themed movies. I had no idea there were so many!

Cozy Mystery News – April 2021

April 17, 2021

I’ve got a number of pieces of good Cozy Mystery news to share with you all this month!

First, Ellen Byron (aka Maria DiRico) will be starting a new series, the Vintage Cookbook Mystery Series, which will feature at least two book sand will star a woman returning to New Orleans to run a gift shop which will include cookbooks and kitchenware among its sales. Ellen Byron is already the author of the Cajun Country Mystery Series, set in Louisiana, and (as Maria DiRico) the Catering Hall Mystery Series, set in New York City.

Next up, Vicki Delany (aka Eva Gates) will be putting out at least two more entries in the Tea by the Sea Mystery Series, which will take the series to a total of at least four entries. Delany is also the author of the Year-Round Christmas Mystery Series, the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery Series, and (as Eva Gates) the Lighthouse Library Mystery Series – among others!

Victoria Houston will be starting a new series, the Lew Ferris Mystery Series, a spin-off of her 19 entry series, the Loon Lake Mystery Series. I’m not sure exactly what the difference between the series will be, as it stars the same sleuth, police chief Lewellyn (Lew) Ferris, but it will at least definitely extend the series by at least two more books.

Finally, Dorothy St. James will be releasing a fourth entry in her Southern Chocolate Shop Mystery Series, titled Bonbon With the Wind, which will involve a hurricane, treasure, and chocolate tea. St. James is the author of several other series, including the Beloved Bookroom Mystery Series and the White House Gardener Mystery Series.

One New Cozy Mystery Series Coming May 2021

April 14, 2021

We’ll have one new Cozy Mystery series released in May!

Ashley Weaver will be putting out A Peculiar Combination, the first entry in her Electra McDonnell Mystery Series. It’s England during World War II, and Electra (Ellie) McDonnell is helping pay the bills while the boys are away – not by working for the war effort, but by stealing jewels from the idle rich. Unfortunately, a heist goes bad, and Ellie is offered a way out that doesn’t involve prison – breaking into a safe belonging to a man believed to be a German spy to retrieve top-secret blueprints before they can be returned to Germany. Weaver also writes the Amory Ames Mystery Series, starring a wealthy young woman in 1930s Britain.
