Linda C says
Goodness Danna!! What a lineup of new releases for November!! Because November is normally a dreary, rainy month and except for Thanksgiving this is my least favorite month. But with books by such authors as J.A. Jance and Julia Spencer- Fleming maybe this year November won’t be so bad.
Sorry, I haven’t been in as often. I fell and hurt my right leg 2 weeks ago and I just haven’t been up to doing much more than what has to be done. DH has been great!! Now I have gotten him hooked on John Grisham. I have created a monster though, because he is the same as I am, once he starts a John Grisham novel he doesn’t want to do anything else!!
My leg is better but still very sore and swollen!! Hurts!!
Take care . I’ll be better soon.

Welcome back, Linda C! I’m sorry to hear you hurt your leg, but it’s good to hear you’re on the mend.
David says
Danna,
I’ve enjoyed your Mystery site for quite a while, but have never taken the time to write and thank you for your efforts.
I know keeping something like this current requires a great deal of time and energy and I just wanted you to know that as an avid reader and mystery fan, you are tremendously appreciated.
Thanks Again!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Thank you, David, for the very kind words about the site. (I’m glad you finally decided to take the plunge and comment!)
Sheila says
Danna.
Thank you for this marvelous November reading list. There are a few books I am looking forward to reading.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Me, too, Sheila! (And you’re welcome!)
Nicole says
I looove this website!!!! Thanks. I have lists of new books to read as well as lists of holiday books in my purse to look for at the library and book store.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Welcome to the Cozy Mystery web site, Nicole. I hope you’re able to find some really good Halloween mysteries at the library on your next stop there.
I just (last month— I know it was early!) read Margaret Grace’s Halloween mystery (Monster in Miniature, book #5 in her Miniature Mystery Series) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. (If you haven’t read any of the other books in that series, I would recommend that you start at the beginning.)

Danna, Sue Grafton is speaking in CT this weekend. She was interviewed for the “Hartford Courant”. I thought this comment worthy of note. She said she reads the first 10 or 15 pages of a book. If it does not interest her, she abandons it. You have discussed this point in previous blogs, but you give the author more time to prove himself or herself. Food for thought. ReginaV
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Regina, here I thought that 50 pages might not be enough. I like her 10 to 15 page rule! (I may just find myself steering towards lowering my 50 pages…)
Billie says
I’ve been using the 50 page rule, but now have backed it down to 20-25. Thanks for the books and authors listed. I’m so glad to see another Julia Spencer Fleming and Kate Ellis book coming out. Wish we could see the Louise Penny movie.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Billie, hopefully the Louise Penny movie is making its way to us.
I’m so used to my 50 page rule, but with so many more books becoming available, I’m going to try to slowly take the page count down. I have to admit that sometimes in the past, a book has been so absolutely terrible, that I’m sure I haven’t made it to the 50 pages.
Billie says
I have been a reader for all my life, went thru biographies, children’s adventure books, classics, mysteries, science fiction, some romance, and now cozy mysteries. Had to find a source for more authors and I am very grateful that I found this site. Besides the 50 page rule which I’ve shortened, I use the how many times do I pick up the book criteria. If I get it and look at the title, cover and the first few pages, do I read it or put it on the bottom of the pile. Well, if it’s the last picked, I usually don’t read it or give it another chance by starting to read it, then just skipping to the last half. I Know that’s awful, but sometimes… Now, I’m going to have to think real hard about only two authors to take on the deserted island. Would it be authors I reread like Agatha Christie, Mary Stewart, Georgette Heyer, the Brother Cadfael series? That’s really a hard one.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Billie, when I first got my Kindle I “bought” a lot of FREE Kindle books, which has left me with a rather large library of mysteries on my Kindle. I “bought” many FREE Kindle books without really thinking about them. I had the “Oh, my goodness, that’s FREE! I’ll get it!” mentality.
Since then, I have taken several of those FREE Kindle mysteries off of my Kindle. Some of them were by authors who I had absolutely no interest in reading, but since they were FREE, I simply couldn’t not “buy” them.
So, I know exactly what you are talking about when you list the “how many times do I pick up the book” criteria!

Danna –
I really appreciate the work you put into the website and look forward to the monthly lists.
Just finished reading Woof at the Door by Laura Morrigan. The main character Grace is able to psychically communicate with animals. Plus it was a very twisty who-done-it.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Thanks, Neesie. I’m glad you’re enjoying the monthly lists and the website.

There are 27 books out of the 36 books that I read. Linda I am sorry to hear that you fell and I am glad you are better. Danna I am glad that you and your husband are back safe. You had a good trip to see your mother. My dad will have surgery on Nov. 19 to remove his pacemaker and put in a new one on the right side. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we go through this. Thanks Danna for the site and wonderful things you let us know about in the reading world.

Love, love this site! Thank you so much for putting together a great list of new books each month. I adore cozy mysteries. I got a Nook for my birthday, so I look up the new releases and shop from my family room!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Karen M, thank you for the kind words about the site, and I’m glad you’re enjoying hearing about new books.
Michelle says
Thank you so much for creating this site! I go through books so quickly that I need a good place to find new favorites! Several years back (under protest) I converted to using a kindle and now, with a toddler, could never enjoy a book if it didn’t read to me while I did chores! While looking at my recommendations on amazon after a recent purchase of another book, I saw that Chicken Caccia-Killer (A Jordan McAllister Mystery) by Liz Lipperman came out on November 30th. I didn’t see that you had it listed under her name. Just thought I’d mention it in case you hadn’t seen it. Again, thanks so much for the amazing resource.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Thank you, Michelle, for telling me about Chicken Caccia-Killer. I don’t know how I missed it! (I actually looked at my list of all of the authors to be sure I had both Liz Lipperman and Lizbeth Lipperman. >>> I have both of “them” listed…)
