The site received a comment a few days ago from Patricia who would like help identifying an author:
“I have just found your site and am absolutely thrilled to find your wonderful lists, especially those of the culinary cozies.
It may not be appropriate to ask for help here, but I just have to try! I’m desperately seeking the name of what I believe would be classified as a cozy, but I don’t know the name or the author. I found a couple of recipes I copied from the book, and all the information I know for certain comes from these two xeroxed pages: the protagonist is named Jane and the two recipes (tea scones and Madeleine’s truffles) were supposedly Jane’s mother’s. As I recall, Jane was not engaged in any sort of culinary related profession before finding these recipes. Jane went to visit a relative (I think) at a time of marital strife and found or was given her mother’s “recipe book.” Has anyone ever heard of this book? I’m guessing this book is one of a series, and I’d look to get reacquainted with this unknown author.”
If you think you might be able to help Patricia identify the author, please post a comment. Thank you!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who came to my aid in solving the mystery of “What was that book and who wrote it?” However, I now know the book really wasn’t a mystery at all, but I’m still looking forward to reading more of the Grace Chapel Inn books and trying more new recipes.
I had googled myself silly trying to find the right set of keywords to help me find the book–ditto with searching the Library of Congress. You all are absolutely awesome for helping me. I had tried unsuccessfully for over a year to discover the name of this book, and you wonderful people addressed my query in a matter of hours. Now, it’s off to the library to check out a load of Grace Chapel Inn books!
No doubt about it: readers rule!

Patricia on Ebay is where I got my complete set and if you look on Danna’s site do search for Grace Chapel Hill it has the entire list there so you can get them in order.

Thanks to your suggestion, Alfred, I’ve turned to ebay and have just purchased a set of 4 of the Grace Chapel Inn books. I may never acquire the whole set (and where would I put them if I did!!), but I’ve made a start. I really appreciate your pointing me in that direction.

Sounds like you’re well on your way, Patricia!

The Grace Chapel Inn Series is one of my all time favorites! If you are looking for a “clean” (squeaky even!) cozy series, this is it. It is NOT a mystery but there are usually situations that the sisters/innkeepers help resolve with the various characters. A wonderful place to ‘get away’ to, literally. Enjoy!
My question: Is there any listing on this site/blog of cleaner cozy mysteries? I love Diane Mott Davidson but sometimes it pushes the clean boundary a bit (for me) but the recipes are worth overlooking a bit of language.

Hi Stacy,
I have compiled a list of Mysteries with No Profanity. I have added authors who I KNOW don’t use profanity as well as authors who Cozy Mystery site readers have recommended for the list. I hope this list helps you…

Danna,
On the subject of finding an author, I have finally found the series I had asked for help with on your lovely site a while back. It is A. E. Maxwell’s Fiddler and Fiona series. It’s been bugging me for a while now and I spent a few hours searching on line again tonight and finally found it.
Just an update,
Sandy

Sandy, I just went back and found the entry where you asked for help. I’m sorry we weren’t able to help you… way back in April 2010. I sure am glad you finally found the correct author/series!
