Here is the latest identity question for you all to tackle. This one was submitted by Lisa:
Hope someone can help – I’m trying to remember the title of a mystery set in Amsterdam during WWII. A dead Nazi soldier is left on the lawn of a Dutch family and they are arrested. The teen-age son is the only survivor and he spends the rest of the book trying to find out why his family was targeted in this way. It was a great book and I want to get my book club to read it, but I haven’t a clue about the title or the author!
If any of you think you might know the identity of either the author or the mystery, would you please post a comment for Lisa. Thank you!

Hi 🙂 I think i know which book you are talking about, it is “De Aanslag” by Harry Mulisch. It is not really a mystery book though. It is a really good book, read it and saw the movie too. The film is one of those exceptions on the rule : the film is as good as the book ! Anyhow, the english title is “The assault”. I so hope your book club will read this book as it is an important title in our literary history (Harry Mulisch is considered to be (one of) the greatest of our time). Happy reading 🙂 Meikoningin

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Meikoningin! That is the book I remembered and I never would have thought of that title. I didn’t know that there was a movie of it and now I’m going to find it and watch it. I’m so happy that I can make it my book club choice because it really is a great book. Happy reading to you too!
