The sleuth of this Australian mystery series is Alexa Crowe, a retired police detective who is determined to live a quiet, uncomplicated life while baking artisan bread at home. (Alexa is brilliantly played by Lucy Lawless.) Unfortunately for Alexa, her old partner from the police force keeps intruding on her quiet bread-baking life. Detective Inspector Hussey (Bernard Curry) seems to pop up all over town to fill Alexa in on difficult cases he needs her to solve. (When I say “pop up” that’s exactly what I mean! How about while enjoying a Tai Chi class in the park?)
Alexa is “aided and abetted” by Madison, a very capable computer whiz (as in hacker!). Ebony Vagulans is terrific as Madison – and although I don’t recognize her from anything else, I sure hope I see her in lots of shows in the future.
My husband and I are slowly making our way through the My Life is Murder series. It’s one of those shows we know will be limited since Australian series don’t have as many episodes in a season as we do here in the States. (Yet another complaint related to the second sentence in this blog entry!)
I definitely recommend the My Life is Murder mystery show! We are watching it through our Amazon Prime membership on our Acorn subscription.

I recently watched this one too and loved it! I was disappointed that there is only one season so far and hope they continue it! I also really want that trench coat that Lucy Lawless wears in it!

I’ve watched the whole season and loved it. Looking forward to season 2. Before the show started airing, I saw an interview with Lucy Lawless where she talked about interviewing actors for the part of Madison. When Ebony Vagulans came in, they hit it off right from the start. If I remember correctly, Ebony hasn’t been in anything previously.

Cynthia, I just checked Ebony Vagulans’s IMDB, and you’re right – she’s been in very little, just a few single appearances on TV shows I haven’t seen. No surprise I didn’t recognize her from anything else. Still, she’s excellent here!

Happily I live in Australia, so got to watch this as it was aired. I enjoyed it very much. Lucy Lawless was great to watch, and I also enjoyed watching slices of Melbourne.

I love My Life is Murder. I have always liked Lucy Lawless. This show is one of my favorites. The mysteries are interesting and Lucy Lawless does fantastic job. Her character is easy to relate to, likeable and smart. I recommend it to everyone.

My husband and I are enjoying this show as well! Maybe the quality of the imports is related to the fact that they make fewer episodes? We really love our Acorn subscription though. My other favorites include Agatha Raisin and Queens of Mystery.

Finally,I found the name of an Aussie author I read a zillion years ago. Her name is Marele Day. She had a short series about a woman P.I. I Enjoyed her books so much, I sent her a fan letter (before internet), and she was gracious enough to send me a letter thanking me.Check her out,I don’t like a lot of stuff, but I loved her books.

I am so HAPPY that the tv show My Life is Murder is coming back for a second season. It is a well written SMART show with a terrific cast. LOVE the decision to bring it back!
