I am always hesitant about posting questions from Cozy Mystery site readers. I’ll tell you why: I’m afraid that I should definitely know the answers, as if they are right there in my brain, but I simply can’t connect with them. I take a while to think the questions through, and try to remember if I have read any mysteries that could possibly fill the bill. It isn’t until I absolutely cannot connect with the answer (in my brain) that I post an entry asking for help. So here goes!
Paula would like to know the following:
Paula:
“… All I can tell you is that the central female figure is from a musical family; has a brother who sings like an angel and becomes an international rock star; and, if I remember rightly, the heroine of the series has some trouble adjusting to motherhood; and her husband is a policeman of upper rank. Can you help?”
If you think you might have an idea of who this sleuth is (or this sleuth’s author) then please post a comment. Thank you in advance!

I can’t help with the answer but look forward to someone who can…this series sounds right up my alley…
Thanks in advance.

This isn’t what you are looking for, but you might be interested in Alisa Craig’s (Charlotte Macleod) Madoc Rhys series. He’s a policeman from a musical family (his brother is a famous opera star and his father and sister are musicians) – he and the heroine eventually marry and have a child.

Janet Neel: Francesca Wilson series

I believe the author Paula is searching for is Janet Neel. I enjoyed her books about Franscesca Wilson and her wacky musical family in Britain

Thank you so much for telling us about Janet Neel. Can you believe that I have actually read one of the Francesca Wilson mysteries, and it just never dawned on me!
Paula says
Thank you all so much! I’ll immediately do a search and see if Neel has written books since I lost track of her work.
And as a gift to all of you: look for Dorothy Dunnett’s work. Her mysteries about Johnson Johnson are a delight. And her Lymond Chronicles are brilliant, though definitely not cosy.
Cheers,
P.

I love this site! The description intrigued me and when the series was identified as Janet Neel’s, the name sounded familiar. I actually have the first book in the series buried in TBR pile – it’s now rising closer to the top!
