I have been trying to get authors posted recently. It feels like as soon as I get some mystery authors posted, I hear about new ones who should be posted. Thank you, ALL, for telling me about mystery authors who you think belong on the Cozy Mystery site. The five most recent authors to “join us” are:
Laurie Cass: Bookmobile Cat Mystery Series
Minnie Hamilton is a librarian who, along with her rescue cat (Eddie) travels around her community in her bookmobile.
Christine DeSmet: Fudge Shop Mystery Series
Ava Oosterling is the owner of the Copper-Kettle Fudge Shop in Wisconsin. She shares space in her grandad’s bait shop, so the sign on her establishment says “Oosterlings’ Bait, Bobbers & Belgian Fudge”. (DeSmet is a faculty associate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.)
Rosie Genova: Italian Kitchen Mystery Series
Victoria Rienzi is a mystery series author, who is taking a break from writing. She currently works in her family’s Italian restaurant in New Jersey. (Genova is an English and Journalism teacher.)
Carol Ann Martin: Weaving Mystery Series
Della Wright is the proud owner of Dream Weavers. She teaches weaving in this North Carolina weaving shop.
Caroline Miller: Stand Alone Mysteries
Miller has her M.A. in Literature and has taught English in both the university and high school levels. She writes Stand Alone mysteries.

I’m in the middle of the Fudge Shop Mysteries now and really enjoying it. I recently found a new author on Amazon and loved her books. They kind of remind me of early Stephanie Plum….the author is Bernadine Fagan and she has two books, Murder by the Old Maine Stream and Murder in the Maine Woods. I really enjoyed them!!

Thanks, Stacey T, for telling us about your enjoyment of Christine DeSmet’s Fudge Shop Mystery Series. (And also for telling us about Bernadine Fagan.)

Hi Danna, the Bookmobile Cat sounds interesting but the Amazon link says it will be released in December. Just thought your readers would like to know. (And how did a new author get a pre-release deal for her very first book? That’s a mystery I would LOVE to solve! Congrats to Ms. Cass!) I will also be reading the Weavers series, set in North Carolina, my home state. Thanks for posting these, they all sound good.

Donna, I think the Bookmobile Cat Mystery Series sounds fun, also.

Hi Danna, I must say I have really enjoyed your website and blog over the last couple of years since I found your site. Unfortunately my reading time is severely limited by my full time nursing job and my REAL job of single parenting my 13 yr old girls and 4 yr old son. My fear is that I will die before with many, many book titles still on my “want to read” book list. I am looking forward to starting the Fudge Shop mysteries.

I am so glad you decided to post a comment, Cathy! I can imagine you don’t have a lot of reading time! Between single parenting and working a full-time job, your plate is more than full! I don’t know how you do it! (And I mean that!!!)

Cathy, I had to laugh to myself at your comment because I know exactly what you mean! I’m trying very hard to get my Hospital’s Administration and Nursing Mgmt to understand our staffing needs in my procedural area on the weekends……which will hopefully lead to them instituting a couple of ‘Baylor’ positions. (Because that would definitely give me more time to catch up on all of the wonderful books that Danna posts!) I’ve been telling my kids lately that if anything were to happen to me, please make sure my e-reader goes with me! =)

Kimmie, I just looked up “Baylor positions” >>> I guess nurses who don’t have children living at home would benefit from working during the weekends, leaving those with children time to be home with their children. I can see where, if I were a nurse, I would just as soon work every weekend if I got paid higher wages. (Once my husband took early retirement, we started doing most of our “out and abouts” during the weekdays, when there are definitely less people out and about.)
Kimmie says
Danna, exactly!! It’s a win-win for both family situations and the hospital staffing. As a full-time nurse who doesn’t have another adult to share the load, being able to get normal things accomplished (Dr appts, school activities, errands, etc…) is like pulling teeth!
By the time I get settled in with reading (which is my stress reliever & the way I spend my free time, besides baking) I am pooped! Having those days off during the week would give me the opportunity and time to tackle those tasks and errands, along with knocking down the many books on my TBR (to be read) list. 🙂
Of course, I have to send a big “Thank You” to you for your contributions to my ever growing list!! (BIG SMILE)

Living here in Texas, I thought you meant Baylor, as in Baylor University, Kimmie. This (other) Baylor system makes a lot of sense.
Mary A. Berger says
Danna, like Caroline Miller above, I write Mattie Mitchell stand-alone mysteries. Of the three, each story has a different “theme” but I use the same characters, “Mattie” and her comical sidekick, “Clare.” I’m wondering if this isn’t cozy writing suicide—not having a real “theme.”

Thank you, Mary A. Berger, for telling us about your two mysteries: The Trouble with Mattie and A Trip to the Water’s Edge.

Thanks, Danna. I appreciate that.
