I have just added four “new” authors to the Cozy Mystery site. All four of them have been recommended by site readers – as belonging on the site.
Laura DiSilverio (aka Lila Dare & Ella Barrick) DiSilverio was an Air Force intelligence officer who went on to teach English at the Air Force Academy. She writes the Charlie Swift Mystery Series which features a former Air Force intelligence officer. DiSilverio also writes the Mall Cop Mystery Series which has, as its sleuth, a security officer at a mall in Virginia.
Mitzi Kelly Kelly writes the Silver Sleuths Mystery Series which is set in Texas. The three senior citizen sleuths are: bossy Millie, nice Edna, and always-dieting Trish. These three ladies have a penchant for solving mysteries.
Cindy Sample Sample writes the Laurel McKay Mystery Series. Laurel has recently gone through a divorce. She is now a single soccer mom living in California who works at a bank, and solves mysteries.
Susan Santangelo Santangelo writes the Baby Boomer Mystery Series, which is set in Connecticut. Carol & Jim Andrews are recently retired baby boomers. They may have just retired, but they certainly aren’t slowing down – not when there are crimes to be solved!
Mitzi Kelly says
Thank you for the honor of being listed on your site! I hope readers have as much fun reading The Silver Sleuths Mystery Series as I’m having writing it!
All the best,
Mitzi Kelly

I’m glad I finally got your Silver Sleuths Mystery Series posted, Mitzi!
I get a lot of author recommendations from Cozy Mystery site readers and I know that I am way too slow on getting “my” authors posted…
Rebecca says
Danna, can you or anyone else help me? I cannot find Cindy Sample or Susan Santangelo in my library system. Could they by chance have a middle I. or write under another name?
Maria (BearMountainBooks) says
Rebecca, with budgets being what they are, a lot of libraries have really cut back on what they order. My library carries my books because I’m local, but a few people I know who have requested the books through their own libraries were turned down. The most common reason given is that my books haven’t been reviewed by any of the larger venues (Library Journal, Publishers Weekly, NYTimes.) What you might do is ask the librarian to see if they are available through InterLibrary Loan. There may be a small fee to have it mailed from another library to yours.
That way if a local library has that author, you might be able to get them that way (This is if the author was able to talk her local library into carrying them!)
Good luck!
Maria

Rebecca, neither Cindy Sample nor Susan Santangelo have middle initials in their names on either their book jackets or their sites…
Susan Santangelo says
Hi Rebecca. My books are available on Amazon, and at local bookstores and libraries in the New England area. Where are you located? Would be glad to give your library a gentle nudge!
Susan Santangelo
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Welcome to the site, Susan Santangelo!
Susan Santangelo says
Hi Rebecca. Not sure where your library system is located. My books are in libraries on Cape Cod and CT. Otherwise, available for purchase via Amazon.
Hope this helps.

I have often wondered what has happened to certain authors, example Sue Henry. What has happened to Sue Henry? Has she stopped writing or has her publisher stopped publishing her books? I loved these books by Sue Henry.
It would really be nice if maybe someone, not specifically you Danna, but maybe others who come to this web site could help find what has happened to certain writers.
Do any authors ever read these posts? If so maybe some of these people could help solve the mysteries of what has happened to certain all time favorites?
Maybe if the publisher has stopped publishing certain writers some fans could maybe start some sort of campaign telling the publishers that we would like to see books by these writers again..
If the writer has simply stopped writing, or maybe they have passed away(?) we would know that, too. Are some of these writers just using other names?
I have tried some of these writers’ web pages but some of these are so outdated that no new infomation is on the sites.
Danna, just a thought.

I have added Mitzi’s Silver Sleuths to my Santa list – they sound wonderful!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Petie, Mitzi Kelly’s Silver Sleuths sounds like a lot of fun to me, also.
linda says
Danna, Mitzi Kelly’s books sound good. Since I am a grey haired reading person I do enjoy reading books with grey haired people as the main characters! I will definitely check this author out. With more and more of us “baby boomers” getting older, I like the sleuths getting older, too!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
I know, Linda, Mitzi Kelly and Susan Santangelo have the right idea about featuring baby boomers in their mystery series. I get comments from site readers about the Senior Sleuths theme lists on the site.
Denise says
I love this site ! Just went on line to my public library and while my library here did not have a copy of Mitzi Kelly’s Silver Sleuths Series there were 5 copies in the SC Lends System – make that 4 because one is on hold and making its way to me! Thanks!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Thank you, Denise! I’m glad you were able to track down a copy of Mitzi Kelly’s Silver Sleuths.
Cindy Sample says
I was thrilled to find out I was just included on this site which is truly one of my favorites. As far as the library system, the first book in my series, DYING FOR A DATE was ordered by several different library districts in northern California so that should be readily available. DYING FOR A DANCE was just released in late September. I hope you can find them because they are fun reads!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Welcome to the site, Cindy! That must have been great news to find out that different libraries are stocking your books!
Rebecca says
Danna & Maria thanks for getting back to me I will try Maria’s suggestion.
Maria (BearMountainBooks) says
I just checked with my librarian about my books–only one of them shows up in worldcat.org (it’s a huge database for librarians to see which libraries have what). If Cindy’s books are in worldcat.org, you should be able to interlibrary loan them! If they aren’t in there, it will be harder to find them–you can request your library purchase them (although in these hard times, they may not want to do so) or have them check worldcat in a couple of months!
Maria (BearMountainBooks) says
Okay, more info: My librarian said that they have stopped subscribing to worldcat, which means that new books in the system won’t show up there. Apparently participating is rather expensive and with budget cuts, some libraries are opting out. They can still “see” the books in the system through their subscription to a University library. But the books you’re looking for might not show up if libraries are opting out of the service!!!

Danna…..Hello 11/22/2011
I went online to Amazon and asked about Cindy Sample; put on preorder…….”DYING FOR A DANCE”
and got it end of last month. I think!
The first Book “DYING FOR A DATE: our library didn’t have, so got it on Amazon. Smile!
That book (first book) was fantastic and once I started reading it, WELL I could not stop. haha.
It was so good, and so everything and SO, when I heard she had a new coming out I started looking.
I found it on AMAZON Books. You will love the book, this is a cozy delight!
Everyone have a wonder THANKSGIVING and GOD BLESS!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Thank you, Shirley, for telling us how much you enjoyed Cindy Samples Dying for a Date!
Cindy Sample says
Thank you, Shirley. I just discovered your wonderful compliment. I’m thrilled you enjoyed both DYING FOR A DATE and DYING FOR A DANCE. You made my day!
Abigail says
I like your list of mysteries. I looking forward to reading the Silver Sleuths Mystery Series. It sounds interesting.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Abigail, you aren’t alone!
Eva says
Danna, I just discovered the No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency a couple of days ago. You were so spot on! The series is absolutely delightful – for that is the word that I think is so fitting to describe this series. You were also right about the “mysteries” being secondary, for it is the people and their interaction with each other that seems to draw the audience to the story. And, wow! – that little orphanage where the community come together – it is absolutely brilliant! I can see now why you said that Alexander McCall Smith is one of the greatest story tellers.
I am so enthralled with this series, and I would like to know more about the author and about his books.
But, here is the thing; BBC never disappoints. Why is it that every time American movies are made, they add foul language, sex, or violence and sometimes, all of them?
This series proves that great stories can be made without any of those unpleasantness … and I am not a prude or a saint.
I have not read the books, but you said that the hairdresser was just an addition; then by golly, it was a welcome addition. You were also right about Mma Mkutsi, what a character!
I am actually sad that there is no more of it. This series could go on for a very long time, much like the Rosemary and Thyme – what with all the topics that are available out there – it’s endless! I want more!!!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Eva, I’m glad you enjoyed the No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency television series. I agree about the hairdresser… He adds a lot to the show.
Susan Santangelo says
Thanks so much for adding me to your site. I just found out about it!
Susan Santangelo

I’m delighted when I find new Cozy Mystery authors to add to the site, Susan.
linda says
Susan, I just now checked out your web site. I put this on my ” favorites” list. I will explore it more and I will check these books out. I love the books that have sleuths my age (not older than dirt, but there is quite a lot of dust).
linda says
I am so glad that you list new authors Danna. I also love it when other posters to this site offer new names too.
One thing about the libraries in my area, the lending library is really great. If my libraries that I frequent don’t have a certain book that I want they seem to go out of their way to try to get the book for me. I haven’t been disappointed very often.
