Danna Thanks for the July list of book releases. One small note, Lesley Cookman’s book,”Murder in a different Place” was published in May. I have already read it.Could she have another one coming out in July. Also Mary Daheim’s book is scheduled for August. I pre-ordered the books I want which is why I am familiar with the above information.

Regina, I always check, double-check, and then check, check, and check again. I was pretty sure Mary Daheim’s Clam Wake was scheduled for July. Thanks for the information. (I’ll go change it on my site, and add it to my August 2014 mystery release entry.)
As for Lesley Cookman’s Murder in a Different Place, I just checked. Here’s the scoop: The “real book” is due out this month. The e-format came out in April of this year. Aha! That solves that mystery!
This sounds vaguely familiar, leaving me to think that this very same thing has happened before. I wonder if because she’s British, and the British “real book” has been released, the Kindle and Nook copies have been released as well.
Noel says
I think something like this happened to Paws Enforcement by Diane Kelley…?!?
I know I read it earlier this year, or late last year as an ebook, but it is just now coming out as an ebook…?! Anyway, it was great! Another mystery in life.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Noel, Diane Kelly’s Paw Enforcement came out at the beginning of June. Next month, Kelly’s 7th Tara Holloway Death and Taxes mystery (Death, Taxes, and Silver Spurs) will be released. Paw and Order, the 2nd in her Megan Luz series won’t be released until December 2014.
Stash Empress says
WOWSERS!!!! You know it used to be (say back when dinosaurs roamed the earth 😉 that if you loved cozies, you could read all the new releases & easily keep on top of the genre. Now there are SO MANY that its impossible to keep up with even my most favorite series!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Stash Empress, exactly! I remember when it was almost difficult to find an even ten Cozy Mysteries releasing in one month. Isn’t this great?
Judith says
Blotto, Twinks and the Riddle of the Sphinx is the fifth book in the series. The books in order are (1) B,T and the Ex-King’s Daughter, (2)B, T and the Dead Dowager Duchess, (3) B, T and the Rodents of the Riviera, (4) B, T and the Bootlegger’s Moll and (5) B, T and the Riddle of the Sphinx. This is a very funny, tongue-in-cheek series.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Judith, thank you for the Simon Brett information. I totally missed his Blotto, Twinks and the Booktlegger’s Moll two years ago!
reginav says
Danna, Thank you for your update. I do not mean to be critical when I send you my findings. I appreciate all that you do, but I am certain that you want to be accurate. Who knows why Cookman’s books are so confusing in publication. Regina
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Regina, I truly appreciate it when people send me corrections/additions that need to be made. Thank you!
Sheila says
Danna.
Thank you for the July book list. The one book I am looking forward to reading is Mission to Murder by Lynn Cahoon. Loved her first book in the series.

Thank you so much, Sheila, for telling me about Lynn Cahoon’s If the Shoe Kills. It’s a Christmas theme mystery, and I love the cover! (I just posted it on the Cozy-Mystery site, thanks to you!)
Barbara says

Danna - cozy mystery list says
Barbara, thanks for telling us about Linda Castillo’s The Dead Will Tell.
Lindar says
Jennifer McAndews: Ill-Gotten Panes by (1st Stained-Glass Mystery) is due out in July, I think.
Love your monthly list! I seldom need to add any titles – most that I add to my to buy aren’t necessarily cozies. And, those that I don’t buy, I have an early heads up for requesting from my public library!
Tony says
Connie Shelton Sweet Somethings is also coming out in July
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Tony, thank you for the information. I checked with her website and see that it is scheduled to be released this month, but I can’t find it anywhere. I will continue checking…
Thanks, again!
Amy G says
Wow, that’s interesting that Donald Bain is continuing the Margaret Truman series after her death – I like his Jessica Fletcher books quite a bit and I loved the Capital Crimes series when Margaret Truman actually wrote them.
Is the Capital Crimes series re-numbered to reflect Bain taking over the series (i.e. “Margaret Truman’s Capital Crimes”)? I think Truman wrote about a half-dozen of the original “Capital Crimes” series (which were WONDERFUL – the Reed-Smith pairing was reminiscent of the “Thin Man” movies).
I usually stop reading a series once the original author dies (I haven’t been able to read the continued Spenser series after the great Robert Parker died, or the Blaize Clement series) but Donald Bain might make me change my policy!
As always, thanks for such a useful list! You’re doing yeoman’s work!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Amy G, this is actually Donald Bain’s second Margaret Truman Capital Crimes mystery. I didn’t know how to deal with them on the site, so I added the two by Bain to the bottom of Margaret Truman‘s page, and on Bain‘s page, I simply made a link in the title “Capital Crimes Mystery Series” – which takes you to Truman’s original page.
Lindar says
Jeanne Glidewell has new one out in the Lexie Star Mystery series (#6) — COZY CAMPING— published digitally July 7, 2014.
Amazon blurb:
On their first wedding anniversary, Lexie Starr is surprised by her husband, Stone, with a family RV’ing vacation to Cheyenne, Wyoming, during the annual Frontier Days celebration.
While there, Lexie and her daughter, Wendy, overhear a heated conversation between the park’s owner and the egotistical Fanny Finch, a bestselling author penning an unauthorized tell-all book. When Fanny is discovered dead, Lexie launches her own impromptu investigation.
As every question proves that more than one Cozy Camping RV’er has it in for Fanny, one point becomes clear: the sarcastic and patronizing detective leading the investigation has his eye on the wrong person.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Lindar, thank for letting me know. I just added Jeanne Glidewell’s Cozy Camping to the July 2014 Mystery Book Releases entry. (Now I’m going to go add it to my Backpacking, Camping, Mountain Climbing, White Water Rafting Mystery Series entry.
Thanks, again!
Linda C says
Danna, I suggested to my DH that he just might enjoy “Remains of Innocence” by J. A. Jance since he did enjoy the ” J.P. Beaumont series by this author. Not only did he enjoy the first book that I mentioned he went to the local library and got the first “Joanna Brady” books.
My DH has gotten to be quite a mystery reader. He seems to be a more calm person since he started reading. He had a hard time trying to find something to fill up his retirement time. He just fell into this reading like a fish to water.
My only problem with his reading he sometimes (more often than not!!) doesn’t want to do much of anything else——like help clean house, take care of the dogs. etc!! He often brags now how much faster he can read a book than what I can.
We have had to have some often time serious discussions about this!!
I think I created a monster!!!!
LOL, just kidding————I think!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Linda C, I remember when you first got you husband reading. I’m glad to hear he’s now reading even more than you!
