Hello! Thank you for your wonderful site. I now have a huuuge list of Cozy Mystery plus Cat Cozy books to seek out! 🙂
I was wondering if you, or one of your readers, may be able to help me find the author of a book I read last year:
It was about an English woman who moved to the countryside and lives in a house that her best friend bequeathed her. She runs a nail salon and solves murders on the side. Anyone know who the author might be?
I only read the first book, and would dearly love to find the author again.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Hi Alysha,
The only mystery book series that I can think of that involves a nail salon is Elizabeth J. Duncan‘s Penny Brannigan Mystery Series…
Alysha says
That’s it! Thank you so much! 🙂
Danna - cozy mystery list says
You’re welcome, Alysha. (I hope Duncan is the final stages of writing a third mystery in her series…)
Judith says
The third book in the series, A Killer’s Christmas in Wales, is due in October

Judith, thank you for telling me about Elizabeth J. Duncan’s third Penny Brannigan Mystery. I have added it to the Christmas mystery book list for authors beginning with D.
Thanks, again…

Love the list! I have a “book” bag that is just overflowing. At this point I am just reading whatever book I pick up. I am interested in getting a Nook. Any thoughts? Save space or keep the physical tome?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Sorry, Regina, I don’t know anything about the Nook. My husband has a Kindle, and he loves it.

I got my latest version of Stephanie Plum today; Smoking Seventeen. I did notice in the back that she is going to be coming out with number 18 in November. I don’t ever remember her coming out with two Stephanie Plum books in one year, usually in June of each year. We will be twiced bless this year. I wonder if she is winding up the series. Anyone hear anything?

The “new” book by M.C. Beaton – Death of a Greedy Woman- was the previously published 8th book in the series -Death of a Glutton. Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone who has already read that book. Wish I had read the small print on the cover. Love the Hamish Macbeth series. And love this site. Thanks.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Leslie, thank you so much for telling us about M. C. Beaton’s “NEW” book… with a totally NEW title! I absolutely hate it when publishers pull that YUCKY type of trick. You would think that with ALL the books that Beaton has put out (and I mean that as ALL!!!) they wouldn’t have to pull this type of SCAM!!! I just (this minute) went on my site and pulled all references of Death of a Greedy Woman as being NEW. Shame on them!!!
(Can you tell I’m “mildly” ticked off!?!)
Thank you, again, for letting us know about this unacceptable practice…
PS>>> I see that they changed the name of Death of a Chimney Sweep to Death of a Sweep, also. Unless Beaton changed publishing companies within the last year, and lost the rights to use the previous name, I cannot imagine why they would pull this change of titles!
Leslie says
Glad I could help. I didn’t feel it was right either.
