Yikes! I almost forgot to tell all of you who are Jesse Stone fans and/or Tom Selleck fans:
Don’t forget to watch (or record) the latest Jesse Stone movie tonight on CBS!
Most of you who are fans of Robert B. Parker‘s Jesse Stone mysteries already know about this, but I thought I would just remind you…
Rosemary says
When will Jesse Stone, Innocents Lost be shown again?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Oh, Rosemary, I’m sorry you missed it. I have no way of knowing. Maybe the CBS site has some information, or a “contact” page…
Peg says
Couldn’t figure out who it was that was killed in the end of the movie, anyone got a clue?…
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Peg, I’ll let you know as soon as I watch the movie.
OR
If someone makes a comment here before I watch the movie I’ll send you the answer… but won’t post the comment, since there are probably others who haven’t seen the show yet.
Garbo says
I just watched the rerun of Innocents Lost on the Hallmark Channel and I’m not sure who got killed in the final scene.
H e l p p l e a s e ! !
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Garbo, I just posted this very same answer to Marcia.
I couldn’t remember the answer, but went through my emails from 2011 and found the answer to your question. For those of you who haven’t watched the Jesse Stone Innocents Lost movie yet, but sure not to read this SPOILER!

This is from a letter I sent out in 2011:
The person Jesse shot was the lowlife former orderly at the drug rehab place who got the young girl hooked on drugs, and later pimped her out. We don’t know how Jesse woke up and figured he was coming to kill Jesse, but somehow Jesse knew and shot him. The boxing-mafioso had left a message on his cell phone, but Jesse didn’t get phone reception at his house unless he went out on the point… so I still wonder how he knew the lowlife was outside. Anyway, that’s what my husband and I thought it looked like. (Also, we rewound and froze on the dead man’s face.)
Beverly says
I think it was suitcase that’s why Jesse told him nothing.
Nancy says
My mother in law fell asleep before she found out who the murderer was. Can you email me?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
My husband and I will probably watch it this weekend. I’ll e-mail you when I find out…
OR
If someone posts a comment before then on who the murderer was, I’ll e-mail you right away (but won’t post the comment since it would be a SPOILER for those who haven’t watched the show yet…)
Pam says
I’d like to know when it will be rerun also, with all the tornado warnings here in Oklahoma, Jesse Stone Innocents Lost was not shown or run later that night after all the storms cleared out. CBS needs to run it again.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
I’m sorry, Pam. My best suggestion would be to contact CBS.
kathy says
I was very disappointed in this movie. Not as good as the others. Very confusing.
Ron says
I thought movie very confusing left a lot of questions, when is part 2 with all the answers, is there a different writer, didn’t flow like the previous stories
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Kathy and Ron,
My husband and I watched the latest Jesse Stone movie last night (Innocents Lost), and agree that the pacing is a little different than the other Jesse Stone movies. (The movie seemed to use a lot of the time showing us Bridge Over the River Kwai and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.) But, we both liked it… perhaps not as much as the earlier ones.
As for the ending, I thought they wrapped the mystery up pretty well, although I thought the ending was a little “plunked down”… sort of an “oh, oh, we only have only five minutes left, we had better wrap this up” type of an ending.
Jan says
I too felt this Jesse Stone movie had a much different feel to it than all the others. I wasn’t really impressed. LOVE Tom Selleck but really was disappointed with the disjointed story line of this. I walked away very confused and felt like I had NO closure. And…couldn’t figure out for the life of me who that was laying there at the end. I don’t think it was the Russian. I thought it was the police chief (leaving things open for Jesse to get his old job back), then I thought it was Suitcase/Luther! But of course, that didn’t make any sense. This just wasn’t up to par with all the other Jesse Stone movies!
Marie says
Who did it? Was it the young guy that worked for the doctor at Tranquility?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
I have tried to write each person who has written asking who the culprit was. I decided not to post any “SPOILERS” here >>> I know that a lot of people tape shows for future viewing, and also, there are people who missed the show and might be looking forward to watching it the next time it airs…
eric p says
Hey
Who died in the end? Thanks for the info.
Eric
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Eric P, I am going to send you the answer to your email address. I don’t want to post a spoiler…
Marcia says
We just saw this movie last night for the first time and I am baffled also about who was killed. does the next movie of the series carry on the story line i.e. suit, jesse’s job?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Marcia, oh my gosh, I wish I could remember this from 2011! I just looked at my saved mail, and I have the answer to your question. I’m going to post it here under a lot of SPOILER alerts.

Catherine J Heck says
Val would have been the most obvious one behind the night vision mask at the end, but I thought his hair was way too dark. The Val we saw earlier was almost a blond, wasn’t he?
Dr. Annie Thompson says
It was Val (the Russian guy who was pimping the girls). Someone had mentioned in another question about cell reception. No he didn’t get Gino’s message but being so keen on noises, he was sure to hear the guy when he cut the circle in the glass and entered the house. As for Val’s hair being darker, remember he was in a house dimly lit with that stupid helmet so the hair would look darker. But that’s the person who got shot. Jesse made him look like a fool when he beat on him in front of the girl then had him sitting in his underwear taped to the chair. As Gino called him, Russian mob wannabe
Nancy F says
I’ve rewatched the ending a few times but can’t figure out who the dead man was. It sounds like you know, so could you tell me? Thanks, Nancy
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Nancy F, I just sent you a letter…
mike says
Our dvr cut off three minutes before the movie ended. My wife really needs to know what happened after Tom Selleck was on the phone saying there was a dead body at his house. If someone could email me the details, I would be most appreciative.
Ron says
That was the end, I thought it left a lot unsaid, I was looking for the “to be continued” logo, I wonder if killing ********** will open up something else and how the local PD chief is going to react, I just feel like there should be more.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
(Sorry, Ron, I keep editing the SPOILERS! I know a lot of people probably haven’t seen the latest Jesse Stone movie yet…)
jane kay says
What historical building did they use for the tranquility rehab center? thx
dave says
Who did it?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Dave, I am going to write you right now with the culprit…
Dave F says
Just was searching the web to see if others were as let down by this one as I was. All the others have been exemplary but something was so off about this one. I lay it all at the feet of the director – this was the first installment to use a different director. Robert Harmon did the previous 6 movies and they REALLY need to get him back. Like REALLY need him back.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Thank you, Dave F, for letting us in on the new Jesse Stone movie director. That would explain why more time was spent on Jesse watching old movies, and looking pensive a lot of the time, rather than showing us more airtime on “regulars” like Suitcase and Rose.
Elizabeth says
I love the Jesse Stone movies and was thrilled there was a new one to look forward to. I was so excited the evening it aired on tv. I was dissappointed because I couldn’t hang on the storyline. I thought I must have been too dumb to get it. It just didn’t hold my interest as well as the others. I am glad to read Dave F. comments, it made me feel like maybe it wasn’t only me. Thanks.
Julie says
Watched the whole movie – I also couldn’t tell who did it. I’m sure if you just post the answer here with SPOILER ALERT in front of it, it would be simpler than having to send everyone who is trying to figure it out a personal email. But either way. Thanks for your help.
Matthew says
So, who was wearing the night vision goggles?
Thanks
Matthew
Linda says
I’m still waiting to know who was the guy on the floor? Anyone know?

*******SPOILER ALERT*******
*******SPOILER ALERT*******
*******SPOILER ALERT*******
*******SPOILER ALERT*******
*******SPOILER ALERT*******
Jesse was tipped off by the intern working at the rehab mill, ‘Tranquility,” about a former employee there named ‘Val’ who was fired from the facility for taking advantage of patients.
This was further expounded upon by Gino Fish when he secretly messaged Jesse and told him about Val being the person Jesse was looking for—a Russian mob wannabe who worked as a pimp for young prostitutes. After Gino tells Jesse this, Jesse rents the hotel room in Val’s name and sets him up by posing as a customer for one of his prostitutes. Jesse overpowers Val, lets the prostitute go, and tapes a near-nude Val to a chair in order to humiliate him while telling Val that he needs to quit pimping. Later Gino is told in a whisper by an unknown character that Val knows who Jesse is, and Gino leaves a message on Jesse’s cell phone. The last scene in the movie involving the gunfight showed VAL, the Russian wannabe mobster/pimp, wearing night vision goggles and breaking into Jesse’s house. Jesse was ready for him, and Val ended up getting shot to death. Watch the movie closely. It’s clear as day!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Thanks, Clifton, I couldn’t have said it better! (I have gone ahead and posted the spoiler since the episode was on so long ago…)
Gary says
You are mistaken about who was wearing the night vision goggles and was killed. It was the intern at Tranquility. He had blue eyes and dark hair longer than Luther. It wasn’t Val because he had grey hair.
As far as I’m concerned, a movie like this is junk because there is no resolution. It is very unsatisfying because you don’t really know what happened. The director must be stuck in the ’70s.
Stanton says
Not so clear as day if you thought it was the Russian, He had grey hair. The intern had dark hair and blue eyes and wore a ring on the left middle finger…
Curley says
Thanks so much for the “spoiler alert”. Like many others, I too could’nt figure out who Jesse killed at the end. What still confuses me is in the hotel scene when Jesse had him tied to a chair, the killer had thin blonde hair. Under the mask he had black hair. Anyone know wazzup with that❓
Sandy says
Who did Jesse kill at the end of the movie?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Sandy, Clifton has posted the person who Jesse Stone killed in the comment right above…
Barbara says
Does anyone know when there will be another. Hooked on Jesse Stone.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Barbara, if you are talking about the show, I don’t know.
But, if you are talking about the mystery books – Michael Brandman will be carrying on the Jesse Stone mystery series:
Robert B. Parker’s Killing the Blues
patrick says
The Russian had gray hair.
The dead man in night goggles had dark hair. I think it was the kid that worked for the psychiatrist at Tranquility
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Now I’m really confused! I thought the Russian wanna-be pimp was the man who worked as the orderly… and that was where he met the young girls…. Though I could be remembering it all wrong now >>>I know it made sense when I saw the actual show >>> after we reversed several times… (I believe you are saying the culprit was who we said it was… the Russian orderly at Tranquility who Jesse Stone tied up in the hotel room.)
jaydublyew says
Danna…you post an answer with all the certainty of the guy who wrote the screenplay and then you post, “Oh GEE! Maybe I had it wrong!”
If you think the guy on the floor was the Russian you need a new TV!
Are we asking for an opinion or an answer from someone who knows the answer?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
I did give my opinion, Jaydublyew, which is also my answer. As for “someone who knows the answer” I guess you’d have to contact someone on the production crew who was on the movie set, or maybe even Tom Selleck to know absolutely/positively who Jesse had shot.
I finally (after I thought was a good amount of time so that everyone who had taped the movie had time to actually watch the tape) posted the answer (with a SPOILER alert) by posting Clifton’s answer on June 16, 2011 at 4:27 pm. I agree with his comment… which is my opinion, and also my answer.
Shirley says
Oh gosh……I missed the movie! Do you think there will be a repeat of the movie…..I was going to try and buy it…….
But after reading the blogs, I don’t know!
Although I usually watch anything Tom Sellect plays in.
Maybe they should get the other director to come back so we all can A. Enjoy Jessie Stone’s movies once again.
Do you think there will be more movies?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Shirley, I think I’d pass. Surely they will show it again… but make sure to tape it so that you can reverse the end a few times!
Bob says
Who did Jesse Sione Kill at the end of Innocents Lost?
Please let me know so my wife and I can settle a little bet.
Thanks, Bob
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Bob, take a look at this message which appears above (in these comments): Clifton June 16, 2011 at 4:27 pm
linda says
I love Tom Selleck and I love the Jesse Stone novel series but I just don’t care for the movies. I don’t think these movies live up to the novels. I think jesse Stone is more likable in the books than he is in the movies. Just my opinion.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Linda, sort of like the current Agatha Christie Miss Marple television episodes. If you want to see a great Miss Marple production… check out the ones with Joan Hickson as Jane…
Ed says
What is the name of the movie Jesse is watching where the bridge is blown up and the train falls into the river?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Ed, it’s been a while since I saw this Jesse Stone movie, but I believe the movie is the 1957 The Bridge on the River Kwai with William Holden and Alec Guinness.

When I watched the end of the movie I too thought that it was Valkerie that was wearing the goggles, but it didn’t sound like that was the name that Stone said when he told that character he was going to die??? Was rather hoping that it was the police chief as he was definitely up to no good throughout the movie…
Guess I am just going to have to rewatch the movie to find out.
Kathy says
I just saw movie on TV and have no idea who got killed in the end. Unable to understand what name Tom Selleck said. Not even interested to rewatch it but I feel I wasted my time watching and got cheated out of the ending….could not see who the guy was and could not understand Tom’s mumbling.
Laura says
Who did Jesse kill at the end of this, movie?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Laura, it’s been so long ago now I’m afraid I don’t remember.
Nonie says
Do you know who Jesse shot at tge end if Innocent lost – it is driving me crazy as recording finished just as Jesse shot him
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Nonie, take a look at at Clifton’s message, somewhere above.
