I posted some information about an upcoming mystery movie on the Turner Classic Movies channel the other day, and unfortunately not everyone on Facebook got the notice early enough to either watch the movie live or to set up their DVRs to tape the movie. Here is a comment I received:
Lynn:
Ohhh, FB is so awful about showing posts in a timely manner that I missed this posts and the second movie is over! Do you know if they will re-broadcast the first two?
Here is my response:
Danna (Cozy-Mystery):
Lynn, I posted the entry yesterday on my website, so that everyone would have time to set up their DVRs. I’m sorry you missed the notice. I would suggest that you go to my website’s blog area and sign up for the emails. Everything (all new Cozy Mystery authors, new Cozy Mystery themes, the free and cheap Kindle/Nook lists, the monthly mystery movies on television, etc.), everything I add to the Cozy-Mystery.com site comes out in my entry emails. That way, you’ll be ahead of the game! I do a monthly list of the television mystery movies that I post, so if these two Nancy Drew movies are on again, I will be posting them. (Again, I’m sorry you missed them.)
We have a lot of different Cozy Mystery readers who come to the blog and post comments, which are very informative and interesting to read.
And, for those of you who are reading this entry on the actual Cozy Mystery blog, thank you for all your terrific, informative comments. (I wish I could say “terrifically” – but I doubt that’s a word. It just feels like it’s grander than “terrific” – which is how I feel about your participation in, as well as your additions to – the blog!) You ALL are a wonderful source of interesting conversation, as well as a whole lot of great Cozy Mystery information.
Thank you ALL, again!

I am so grateful that you take the time and make the effort to let us all know about upcoming movies. It is a wonderful service to the “cozy” readers and to everyone else. I always read the blog, and I find out about new books and usually end up adding another series to my already-too-long list. Thank you!

Linda, thank you! I’m glad you have been able to find new Cozy Mystery books to read. I know I have!
Peej says
I don’t know about all the movies, but at least one of them is on YouTube (and a lot of older movies are). There’s a channel called Timeless Classic Movies on YouTube – it can be found there.
Hope that helps!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Peej, thanks for telling us about this channel! I’m going to have to check it out…
Patti S. says
Just an FYI , all the Nancy Drew movies they are showing on TCM are available on a DVD on Amazon.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Patti S, you are so right! All four of them are in one set.
The Original Nancy Drew Movie Mystery Collection (Detective / Reporter / Troubleshooter / Hidden Staircase).

Also, pass on this info to FB folks.
Go to the cozy-mystery FB page.
Hover your mouse over “liked” and make sure “get notifications” is checked. Then you will be notified of every post and not miss any! 🙂
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Kath, thank you for posting this both here and on Facebook. I’m not exactly sure how Facebook decides who to send updates to, or when they do. Does this mean that if you get a notification you get it as soon as the entry is posted?
Kath says
Yes, you get a notification in your “notifications” bubble (earth) at the top as soon as it is posted 🙂
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Kath, thanks, again. I hope it helps those who want to read the entries in a timely manner.

Dear Danna,
Is “Masterpiece Mystery” on PBS something Cozy Mystery lovers would enjoy? When I first read your Blog I seem to remember mentions of other types of mysteries, but I could be wrong. Anyway, the second season of “Endeavor” – the series about the young Detective Morse! – is now showing on Sundays (and is, of course available on the internet). It is magnificent! With “Masterpiece” one is almost guaranteed not to have to tolerate ridiculous & sloppy production standards (discussed on your Post about “Rosemary & Thyme (“Three is too many …?)).
As always, thank you for your dedication to your readers.
Best regards,
Marienne
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Marienne, yes, I think Masterpiece Mystery is something most of us enjoy.
That last season of Rosemary & Thyme certainly wasn’t up to the same standards as the first two seasons.
Marienne says
Will your readers see my Comment as a reminder?
Thanks for responding! Take care!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Marienne, I’m glad you posted a reminder for us. I have Masterpiece Mystery set up as a favorite on my DVR machine, otherwise I would have to write notes to myself, which doesn’t always work, as I sometimes forget where I put my note.
Marienne says
Me too! Thanks

As far as movies go, if they are on DVD (and in some cases VHS even!), check your local library. Usually even a very small library will be part of a consortium where they can easily get what they don’t have on the shelf. From timeless classics to newly released blockbusters, you can probably get it. Since you’ve already paid your taxes, why not take advantage of this service. Promise: you’ll fall in love with your library all over again.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Jenny, thanks for the library tip.

Danna:
I just need to reply to your “terrifically”. You can use whatever word you want. As a beginning writer, using derivations of words like this is more realistic and actually entertaining as we can all relate to it :). Here comes my usage of it “The moderator of this site does a terrifically grand job of posing thought-provoking topics for us”. Without the ‘terrifically’ it would be a much more boring sentence.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Ann L, thank you!
Rebecca says
I was able to order up the Nancy Drew mysteries via interlibrary loan with my local library. Our library system can request any media throughout Ohio. It’s awesome. Perhaps other folks’ libraries work the same. They have lots of old movies. Best of all, it’s free.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Rebecca, I hope you enjoy the Nancy Drew movies.
