The latest question for me to post is from Deb. She would like help in remembering the author of… well, let’s let Deb tell us!

“I have been trying to find an author I really enjoyed in either Ellery Queen or Alfred Hitchcock magazine many years ago. The hero was a hypochondriac who had a different outrageous illness in each story, using a medical manual of some sort. She solved mysteries reluctantly with her aunt and cousin, but she actually was surprisingly successful.”
If anyone has a clue as to who this particular sleuth and/or her author could possibly be, please send us a comment.

Although I’ve not read them, Carolyn Crane has written some books where the protagonist is a hypochondriac.

Hi:
A friend forwarded this to me and I must say it made my day. I wrote about 14 Micky Cardex mysteries for Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine between 1992 and 2006. Although others may have considered her a hypochondriac, she considered herself a victim of an ‘alphabetical immune condition,’ in which she suffered from whatever came next in the manual.
I cannot say again how much I appreciated the interest!

I’m the one who originally posted the query. I finally found you last night when I did another search! I believe there was another post I ran across several years ago somewhere on the net also asking about you, so I was just looking for my post here to let everyone know who you were. I sure wish you could compile all of the short stories in a collection to sell.

Michelle Knowlden, maybe you can get the digital rights to the stories, since I’m sure Alfred Hitchcock had the rights to the print copies. I sure hope you can find a way to do it!
