Guess what I just found out! (You know I’m not good at keeping mystery-related secrets!)
On Saturday, April 4, 2015 A Bone to Pick: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery movie will be showing on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel and the Hallmark channel. That’s right! Aurora Teagarden >>> as in the sleuth lots and lots of us love! Charlaine Harris wrote the Aurora Teagarden Mystery Series, way back before her Sookie Stackhouse saw the light of day!
So, go set up your DVRs as soon as you can! Aurora Teagarden is back!
Here’s the information I found on the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries channel website:
“A Bone to Pick: An Aurora Teagarden Mystery
Librarian Aurora Teagarden is known around her small town as a master sleuth. When her friend Jane unexpectedly dies and leaves Aurora everything in her will, she also leaves a troubling murder mystery. It is up to Aurora to piece together the clues and solve the murder before she becomes the next victim. Stars Candace Cameron Bure, Marilu Henner and Alexa Doig.”
P.S. This is going to be a movie series!
P.P.S.S. I just checked and it will be airing on the regular Hallmark channel at the same time!
Dawn says
Many thanks for telling us about this. Just set up the DVR. Looking forward to it.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Dawn, it’s a good thing I read the books so long ago! I won’t have any idea of who-dun-it!
Rita McD says
They will also be airing Murder,She Baked with Alison Sweeney. It starts in May
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Rita McD, yes, I’m looking forward to the Joanne Fluke mystery movie. I think it’s going to be airing on May 10, but will wait until I’m totally sure about the date. They kept postponing the Aurora Teagarden movie, so I’m hoping they don’t do that with the Hanna Swensen movie. We’ll see…
Margaret M. says
I am thrilled to see they have 4 mystery movies series added to the schedule. But, I am really happy they have some great old stand bys-Perry Mason, Hart to Hart and Murder She Wrote and Columbo on as well.
And I am always happy when the re run Mystery Woman.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Margaret M, it is nice that they are keeping some of the old tried and true mystery series. It’s a nice way for them to introduce them to people who were too young to watch them when they originally aired.
Diane says
Thanks for the information. I’ve marked my calendar and set my DVR. I love this series. I read these long ago, too. I like this series better than the Sookie Stackhouse mysteries.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Diane, I thought I had already set it up on my DVR, but checked this morning to find out that not only did I not set it up, but my particular type of DVR stops it’s schedule at 6:00 PM on April 5. So, I have written myself a note to be sure to set it up tomorrow morning…
Kathie Deviny says
I can’t tell you all how excited I am! Love, love, love her mysteries.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Kathie, you’re probably as excited as I am!
Paula says
I believe, at least this was noted on the Hallmark Channel, that this movie would also be on the Hallmark channel as well as the Hallmark Movie channel. Our cable company only lists the upcoming schedule one week in advance so not able to verify this. I do love a mystery!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Paula, I have amended my entry to include that information. I used to go through the Hallmark channel’s schedule looking for upcoming mystery shows until they spun this mystery channel. Thank you for the information. I know it will make a lot of Cozy Mystery readers who don’t get the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel happy!
Sandy says
Too bad . Would love to watch, but was forced to retire and had to give up direct tv. Maybe they will come to DVD someday.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Sandy, they probably are getting the DVD ready as we speak! A lot of times, it seems like they sell the movies soon after they air them.
Linda C says
Danna, In one of the Aurora teagarden books, a long, long, time ago Aurora went to a small town in Logan County , Ohio named Middleburg to help solve a part of a clue in the mystery of her story. My dad, who died several years ago was born in that small town in 1912. It’s a town that a person almost has to have a reason for going to be able to find. I found it because I was tracing my family history.
It’s a beautiful little town. What’s even more strange is that I just met a woman a few weeks ago that is also from that little town.
Small world, isn’t it!!??
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Linda C, don’t you just love it when an author uses a setting you’re familiar with? I’m guessing this brings back fond memories of your dad every time you think of Middleburg… And then to meet a woman from that tiny town… that does sound strange!
Linda C says
Danna, Whenever I think of Aurora Teagarden I always remember this one particular book especially and it makes me miss my dad so much more but in a pleasant way, if that makes any kind of sense.
Annette says
Yippee I love those books!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Annette, it’s been so many years since I read these books that I’m sort of drawing some blanks in their plots! Well, I know I enjoyed them while I read them…
LMI says
I am looking forward to the upcoming movies, I was very disappointed in the Janet Evanovich Movie One for the Money, so I am hoping these are better. I am already suspicious because Alison Sweeney is a beautiful girl and anyone that reads the Joanne Fluke series knows her character Hannah is a curly red head who is slightly overweight. Still looking forward to them. I am so glad to have the Hallmark Channel and there type of programming….
Danna - cozy mystery list says
LMI, it should be interesting to see Alison Sweeney portraying an overweight red head! I have a feeling Hollywood has glamorized Hannah!
LMI says
Danna, I am so hoping I can get past Hannah being a thin blond, I guess because we visual the characters in our own heads and it is hard to change that…I hope you enjoy it..
Danna - cozy mystery list says
LMI, I had to watch the Inspector Lynley television shows thinking of them as just police procedural shows, not based on Elizabeth George’s mystery novels. The first few times I couldn’t get through an episode because of how they had cast my favorite character – Sgt. Barbara Havers. Eventually, seeing the show as completely different to the books, I enjoyed the show. (I doubt Alison Sweeney will be wearing a padded body suit or red curly wig…)
Barb2 says
I have been reading your Cozy Mysteries for some time now but am so glad you are including movies to mark on TV…..Although I admit some cozies are a little bland for me, I still enjoy many of them and love to have a new series to start. Just finished Louise Penny’s Insp. Gamache series set in Quebec, and loved them….hated to finish the last one….however they do include some rough scenes to advance the stories…..wonderful writing though. I am saving several to my “Fire” for use when I get to tour Quebec and Montreal in the future…..much better tour guides than anything on the market. Thanks again….
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Barb2, I feel the same way about Laura Childs’ Scrapbooking series as you do Louise Penny’s Inspector Gamache. My husband and I went to visit our daughter at the end of January, and we included several places I had read about on our must-visit-things-to-do in New Orleans. We will be visiting her again in May, and I already have a few things on my list to see while there.
Marja says
I was really disappointed when Harris stopped writing the Aurora Teagarden and Shakespeare mysteries.
She anticipated the vampire trend and has made tons of money and many loyal readers with Sookie Stackhouse. While I’m glad for her I’m not among them. She deserves her success … I’m just sad it couldn’t have been for her previous work.
I’ll look for that movie Danna! Thank you for telling us about it.
Bet they glam up Aurora too. If she’s sporting her glasses I’ll be really surprised ;^p
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Marja, I was sorry Aurora and Lily stopped sleuthing for us, too. I’m looking forward to the movie. It should be fun!
Laurel says
I love Candace Cameron Bure! I watch anything with her in it and am really looking forward to this one. 🙂
Sad to say, without really knowing anything about it, I tried to watch an episode of True Blood on Amazon Prime. Good grief!! I only made it through about 10 minutes. No. Just…..no.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Laurel, I haven’t read an Aurora Teagarden mystery in so much time that I probably won’t even know if they keep true to the series. However, with Hallmark being the network, I’m guessing that it will be good.
I just looked up True Blood and see that HBO is behind the series. No wonder you say “Good grief!”!!! I haven’t watched an HBO production in years >>> ever since they apparently got wind that they had to be salacious in order to be successful. We tried a highly-regarded HBO series several years back (possibly Rome, but I’m not sure) and we turned it off after the same amount of time!
Marjorie says
I read in the local paper that “A Bone to Pick” was to air today (16 April) in the Bay Area, but I can’t locate the station – it is not appearing in the Hallmark Channel listings?????
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Marjorie, Aurora Teagarden’s A Bone to Pick is airing today on the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries channel, not the Hallmark channel.
