Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel Cozy Mystery Movies – April 2020

April 2, 2020

Hmmm, have you ever heard of Christmas in March? Well, it looks like the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel started a new March tradition. (Actually, let’s hope not!) I know this channel celebrates Christmas in July every year (showing us the same old Hallmark Christmas movies) however, this year it looked like someone got confused in March.

Now that I’m finished gathering the list of the Cozy Mystery-type movies from the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel’s schedule, I see there will be a NEW Ruby Herring mystery movie airing on Sunday, April 5 as well as a NEW MatchMaker mystery movie airing on Sunday, April 25. Great news for those of you who enjoy watching new Cozy Mystery movies on this network!

I don’t mind Christmas movies but the ones that are being shown on the mystery channel are not mysteries they are romances. The hallmark mystery channel should stick to mysteries and crime shows. Leave the romance movies to the other hallmark channel.

So tired of the Christmas movies when its not Christmas anymore that its become so boring to watch as they show so many of them all the time so we don’t watch the hallmark channel anymore until they show other movies instead. There are plenty of other good movies to show

I’ve heard that movie and TV production has halted, so we are likely to see repeats of all sorts. Perhaps that’s why we’re getting Hallmark Christmas in March this year. Like you, I look forward to the new movies at this time of year.

I am with you in hoping we don’t see any more Christmas weekends from Hallmark this spring. I get that some people love these movies but I’ve been saying for years they need to start an all Christmas channel for those folks. For myself I am looking forward to new movies and mysteries!

Jenny, a new channel for Hallmark Christmas movies might be interesting, though I’m not sure the company is really capable of supporting more channels, considering how even their current channels are being pushed into third-tier cable packages in some areas.

I didn’t know that. When I called my cable provider asking for the Hallmark channels they were charging quite a bit for them and they were only part of the highest premium package. The woman I spoke to said, when I inquired about the channels, “All the old people want those channels”. I admit I took offense to that. I guess they figure people over say 40 have more money so they can soak them for as much as they can get.

There appears to be an update or change in the scheduling. On Saturday , April 25th there is a new Matchmaker Mystery titled” A Fatal Attraction”. It is showing on both the regular Hallmark channel and the Hallmark Movies&Mystery channel at the same 9pm slot. Just found out now. Of course nothing is ever written in stone. It could change at the drop of the hat. Thought You wanted to know. Thanks. ginny

Ginny, thanks for the heads up – I’ve actually noticed they’ve changed the 25th and others in multiple ways over the last few days, so I’m going to wait a bit before making a final change to the schedule. Hopefully Hallmark will make up their minds as to what they’re going to show on those dates.

I absolutely love the cozy mysteries and movies channel. I do miss the regular movies, such as, The Magic of Ordinary Days.
The Christmas programs would have more impact if shown only during their season.

    re: Christmas In March —

the Hallmark folks did this in response to the current virus crisis. They apparently thought it would help. This press release on their website gives the announcement (about halfway down.)

It also literally uses the word “stunt”, which is, I guess, a little bit of honesty slipping through the corporate cracks.

Jee, hmm, not sure if they’re going to be getting the response they expect, but I certainly hope the people who love holiday movies are happy at least.

I am an avid fan of cozy mysteries. So I get one new movie a month if I’m lucky. Why can’t we have a new movie at least every other week? I can quote the movies I’m watching I’ve seen them so many times. Instead, now I read cozy books.

Darleen, I agree that a few more new movies would certainly be appreciated. But it could be that they just don’t have any new ones to share, and might not as self isolation continues.

I was surprised by the Christmas movies. I started watching them and was surprised that a warm feeling hit me. I am high risk and have to be home. It looks like mist people hate the Christmas stuff. I am not one of them.

I stopped watching Hallmark years ago because of the lack of diversity. It’s been four years since I have had cable.
If this channel is on a streaming network, I might check it out, and see if anything has changed.
    Thanks for the report.

Personally I can’t get enough of Christmas movies. Does it get old seeing the same ones or the same theme over and over, yes, but some are worth watching over and over. Plus it’s only one show each night for 3 nights a week unlike the constant Mystery shows. I’m not a Mystery or Romance person so don’t watch them but agree the same storylines with only slight modifications and sometimes even the same actors can be a bit much. 3 channels shows that they have become successful enough to diversify a bit more and still honor the family based shows we love and can’t get through regular channels. I’m glad they have something for just about everyone!

Moviewatcher, well, I may not personally be looking for Christmas in March, but I’m glad that it’s making some people happy!

I tired of the Christmas movies as well. I would like to see some Halloween movies at in the fall. That would be a great time to show the GOOD WITCH SERISE.

Chris, I’m still of a mind to keep the appropriate holiday to the appropriate season, but it might also be nice to get a little more variety if they are going to keep holidays going year-round.

Thank you…. Hallmark puts Christmas movies on far too often. I love the HM&M channel and watch it faithfully. It was one thing when they had it only on the Hallmark Channel but doing Christmas on both is very unfair. Do they realize that Christmas is the time for a large population to be SAD! Many commit suicide. Many people are missing a loved one and to have Christmas celebrated all year long is hurtful! PLEASE DO NOT take HM&M from us. If you must play Christmas all year long LEAVE a channel we can watch. Think of all your audience… some of us just survive Christmas and do not want to see it all year long!

Betty, you’re welcome – I’m not necessarily as upset as you about the Christmas movies, though they aren’t my preference either.

Love this site and love reading everyone’s comments. I enjoy the Christmas movies too, but I don’t really want to see them in March. I don’t even want to see them in October. For me it’s too early. However, with the Covid-19 situation, I guess they are scrambling for programming to air.

It’s raining cats and dogs in my area (WDC-DMV) today so it will be nice to settle down to some gentle movie and take my mind off of the awful woes of the world.

I agree with Jenny’s comment (April 3, 2020) taking offense to her cable provider’s employees ageist comment. When are people going to stop being so ageist? I am over 60 now, but even when I wasn’t I would never disparage someone because of their age. I was raised that you don’t disparage anyone because off age, ethnicity, educational background or anything else. Thanks for listening and Be Well!!
