I went over to the Hallmark channel‘s site to see if I could find a list of all of their new 2013 holiday movies. Sure enough, I did! They will be showing their original holiday movies during an allotted time they are calling their “Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas“, which will be at 7:00 (Central time zone) every Saturday and Sunday night.
I then went over to the Lifetime channel to see what they have in store for us. Lifetime is calling their holiday schedule “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime” and it airs at 7:00 PM (Central) on Saturday nights.
(Yikes! Both Hallmark and Lifetime are airing their original holiday movies at 7:00 PM Central? OK, not to worry… We’re just going to have to do some choosing and then re-arranging to find out which holiday movie will air again the quickest.)
Just to make it a little easier for all of us, I’m going to list the premier dates of both Hallmark’s 2013 holiday movies and Lifetime’s 2013 holiday movies under the correct dates. (You’ll have to check to see when they will be re-airing the shows if you miss these showings. Or, if you’re lucky, let your DVR figure it out!)
Also, I’ll be adding my comments about some of the actors/actresses I recognize. This will definitely date me! (As Joe Friday might say: Just the dates, Ma’am.)

PamB says
Thank you so much for the listing. I don’t have the Hallmark channel (it comes with digital in my area which I don’t suscribe to) but do have the Lifetime channel. So, needless to say, I’m excited that I’ll be able to watch a few good Christmas movies.
You are so awesome to share so many things with us. I even bought one of your favorite scents for my home. I do live where we have autumn and the trees are absolutely beautiful this year with all the reds, oranges, yellows, etc. We had a fairly wet summer so instead of the leaves just turning brown (like the last several years) there are so many lovely colors to ooh and aah over. I’ll say a special ooh and aah for you!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
PamB, all of these different local, cable, and dish networks offering different channels!
Lucky you to have beautiful seasons. Now you can sit inside, enjoy the lustrous colors of autumn, with a “fall-like” scent in the background.
I’m curious… which of the wax melt scents did you go with?
PamB says
I bought mulberry plum spice and the scent is so good. They were out of the cranberry mandarin splash. I was given a wax melter (or whatever they are called) and have just been using what came with it …white sands. I’m excited to have another smell!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
PamB, I love those two wax melt scents. (I have my mulberry plum spice going today.)
PamB says
I was confused. I just have Lifetime channel not Lifetime Movie channel…was reviewing the cable listings and realized there are two lifetime channels…needless to say, I won’t be joining all those watching the many Christmas movies. Maybe one day….
Danna - cozy mystery list says
PamB, I just checked on my DVR’s Lifetime channel line-up, and I am definitely going to be getting Dolly Parton’s A Country Christmas Story on Saturday, November 9. It’s listed on my regular Lifetime channel. (I would check on the rest of the shows, but my DVR doesn’t go that far out date-wise.)
I sure hope it’s the regular channel, PamB, since you don’t get the Lifetime Movie channel.
I know I said this before, but it does get frustrating with all of these cable/dish programs. We don’t get the Create channel, which apparently has some craft shows on it…
PamB says
Danna, thank you and how kind you are to check and to let me know this. I’ll start checking regularly the paper’s weekly TV schedules for the Lifetime channel shows. I’m excited that I might still get Christmas movies.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
PamB, been there, done that!
Last month, Kimmie told us all about the Hallmark movie called “The Mystery Cruise“. I searched and searched my Hallmark channel for this Mary Higgins Clark and Carol Higgins Clark movie but could NOT find it. I finally caught on as to why: It was a Hallmark Movie channel movie.
I remember when we all got PBS, the three major networks, and a few other channels. Now there are so many channels that apparently they have to add the “Movie” part in order for us to be able to differentiate between them.
(I hope the other Lifetime Christmas movies I listed are also on the regular channel, so you are able to get them…)
Judy E. says
Wow, thank you for all the listings. Between reading all my favorite Christmas books along with any new ones I pick up, I’ll be enjoying all these movies plus a few favorites on Hallmark. Now I have to remember to fit in the Christmas shopping and cookie baking. lol
Danna - cozy mystery list says
I know what you mean, Judy E. I know it’s way early to be talking about all of these holiday movies, but I guess November is the designated holiday movie month.
I got home from “MY HEB” grocery store yesterday and was astounded to see that the shopping bags (yes, I still use the plastic bags — which I re-use and then recycle) had their Christmas motif on them >>> in October!
Judy E. says
Danna, I know about the plastic bags, I use mine the same way and for me Christmas can never come too early, so I love Christmas decorations on everything no matter how early. And yes I still decorate and enjoy Halloween & Thanksgiving. About the wax tarts. I often buy mine from A C Moore. Not too expensive although I’m sure Walmart isn’t either.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Judy E, the wax melts at WalMart are $2.00. I had never heard of A C Moore until you just mentioned it. I’ll have to go browsing there some time.
Judy E. says
Well, I guess I’m going to try out those Walmart tarts. great price. I usually shop there so it’s convenient. What you suggested sounds pretty yummy and even though here in Lancaster County, PA. it’s fall with all the pretty leaves and such, we still need those smells in our home. Hopefully they have the mulberry plum spice. Thanks.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Judy E, you may not like the ones I have, but WalMart has a bunch of Better Homes & Gardens wax melts. It looks to me like they sort of switch them out with our two seasons down here: hotter than hot and mildly cold.
Enjoy your Lancaster County BEAUTIFUL autumn!
Tessa says
Thank you for these posts!!!
Happy All Hallows’ Eve!

Katie says
I would like to add my thanks to you for keeping us all informed as you do. I love all the Hallmark Channel and Lifetime Channel Christmas movies, and you’ve made it so easy to know what and when to look for these movies! You are just awesome, not only for this, but also for all the work you put into keeping us informed about books. One question….I’ve obviously missed a blog where you were talking about wax melts. Can you tell where you purchased your scents?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Katie, PamB and I have been talking about the wax scents you can find at WalMart.
I initially talked about them in the Cozy Mysteries Recommendations – October 2013 entry. (At my WalMart, they are next to the scented candles. Since we live in an area where we don’t really get to experience autumn, I rely on Better Homes and Gardens Scented Wax Cubes: the Cranberry Mandarin Splash and the Mulberry Plum Spice.
Also, as long as I’m talking about these little wax cubes, I always put up an artificial Christmas tree, so I rely on the Better Homes and Gardens Fresh Frasier Fir to fake us all out.
Linda C says
Danna, I did watch “The Thanksgiving House” last night. This was a typical Hallmark movie but I liked it anyway. It sure was good to see Lindsey Wagner again. She played a terrific part. She has always been a favorite of mine. I hope to see more of her in the future.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Linda C, I haven’t watched it yet, but I’m looking forward to seeing it soon. (I’m glad Lindsay Wagner played “a terrific part.” I was afraid she would be relegated to a very small secondary character. It seems like a lot of times younger actors get the “terrific parts.”)
Nanci R says
I feel the same, Linda. Lindsay Wagner was in a Hallmark, Lifetime, or some other channel, movie a few years ago. I really enjoy her.
Nanci R says
Thank you so much for getting this condensed list! Very helpful to plan my holiday movie watching. Love it!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Ditto with my holiday movie watching, Nanci R! Each year I try to watch that year’s current movies. I remember when I first started watching these types of holiday movies. I had a lot of them to catch up on. (Took me several years to do that.)
Alan says
May I take this opportunity to endorse “The Christmas Spirit” with Nicollette Sheridan? Why? Because you can see an actual mystery author (me) playing a small part in the film. I play the pivotal role of the Christmas tree lot guy. 🙂 Happy viewing!!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
I’ll be sure to watch for you, Alan Cupp. The Christmas Spirit is definitely on my Hallmark “to watch” holiday movies. That must have been wonderful fun to be on the set of the movie. And, hey, what would a holiday movie be without Christmas trees?
Suzzette says
Does anyone know when the lifetime movie “A snow globe Christmas ” airs again?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Suzzette, I checked on the Lifetime channel, and then on my Sage (my type of DVR system) and nothing shows up for A Snow Globe Christmas. You may have to wait until next year.
June says
I loved the movie “Let It Snow” with Alan Thicke and Candace Cameron Bure and wondered if the movie is for sale and if so, where can I buy it. Please advise. Thanks.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
June, I’m guessing it will be available for purchase after Hallmark finishes showing it this season. Perhaps they’ll sell it on their website…
