November and daylight savings time are upon us! I absolutely cannot believe we’re already into what a lot of us think as the holiday seasons. Halloween is over and now we’re looking forward to Thanksgiving – which will undoubtedly be very, very different than our Thanksgivings of past years.

However, I decided to go ahead and remind those of you who enjoy the NEW Christmas movies on the channel what they will be showing during November. Pam says
I think I must be the only person who does not like Christmas movies 24/7 for two months on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. I much prefer the mysteries, even the repeats!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Pam, I’m with you! I don’t know why they start their Christmas ONLY at the end of October…
Kate says
I agree!
Carol says
I’m in agreement. Too much “Christmas movies.” Give us more Mystery series!
Lynn says
I agree. One month in December is more than enough of Christmas movies.
PamB says
Me too!
Penny Kehus says
Agree with Pam and Danna. I don’t understand the why of showing these movies so early, especially on the mystery channel.

Thank you for the updates. I’m looking forward to what’s coming up on Hallmark, though I agree that it would be good if possible for movie makers to combine Christmas and a mystery, though that’s a challenge of course but maybe a cold case could be addressed, like Jake and Ruby did in Prediction Murder. Their on-screen chemistry is really great. Then at the end of the movie, for the principal characters, the mistletoe beckons :-). I think my fav Christmas movie is Dashing Through The Snow 2015, with Meghan Ory and Andrew W. Walker. Imdb didn’t rate the movie particularly highly but the on-screen chemistry between Ash and Dash is unsurpassed, I think, particularly the way in which Ash’s caring demeanor surfaces towards this rugged Afghanistan veteran with a haunted past that she doesn’t know about right then. That kind of encapsulates Christmas. I can believe that when Ash and Dash spend their first Christmas together he tells her that “This time last year I was in a slit trench in Helmand, with the insurgents coming at us. It’s so much better now…” Of course Ash holds him close, kisses him and whispers “The war is over for you, Dash, and you’re back home with me and God willing, I’ll always be here for you…” That kind of fits Christmas, too, I think.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Alan, a combination of Christmas and mystery would be a decent compromise that I’m sure many mystery enthusiasts would enjoy.
Alan says
Thank you Danna! Much appreciated 🙂 I have another idea for a Christmas rom com dram (drama) historic adventure movie, even if not a complete mystery. DV will post tomorrow.
Carmen L says
I wish they would make Christmas episodes of the Hallmark mysteries.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Carmen, that would certainly be interest.
Cuppa Cozy says
I wish Hallmark would do some Cozy Christmas mystery movies. There are so many good Christmas cozies! Donna Andrews does a Christmas mystery every year with her Meg Langslow series and so does David Rosenfeldt with his Andy Carpenter series.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Cuppa, that would certainly be a nice compromise – there are whole series that would be ideal for adaptation this way.
Alan says
The Chosin Few.
A poignant commemorative Christmas drama of the above title could be created around a notable event during the Korean War, almost 70 years ago in December 1950. A large-scale enemy attack compelled the US 1st Marine Division to evacuate the area around the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea and proceed by road to the port of Hungnam, 78 miles distant. The 1st Marine Division had US Army units under command and British Marines of the 41st Royal Marine Commando.
The evacuating troops were harried by the enemy all the way, in freezing weather, over the roughest mountain terrain. So dire was the units’ situation that the US NPR National Public Radio service broadcast a message nationwide in which the broadcaster said, “If you have a husband or a son in the 1st Marine Division, pray for them. They may be lost.”
I could envisage Andrew W. Walker as a Marine infantry company commander (and WW2 “retread,” veteran of Okinawa) and Meghan Ory as an investigative journalist, a kind of 1950s Ruby Herring, sent by her newspaper to report on the Marines’ arrival at Hungnam.
Of course AWW and MO get it together in classic Hallmark fashion but the poignant drama could easily be augmented by a mystery ‘mole’ in the midst passing vital military information to the enemy. MO might even be suspected herself but AWW springs to her defense and together they run to earth the real insider.
They then kiss under the mistletoe (possible even in the Korean winter, I suggest) prior to living happily ever after (of course) and everybody in camp seeing them claps, cheers and exclaims “Aww!”
In theory I think that could fly :-).
B. From Texas says
I hope Hallmark produce more mysteries throughout the year and especially during the Christmas season. How can we get more mysteries?
Is there another source for cozy mysteries on television?
Thank you for the list of books. We are always looking for an interesting, not-too-gory mystery. We enjoy Hallmark and Acorn mysteries.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
B., I don’t know too many other channels that specialize in what I would consider “Cozy” mysteries… though I do think that many of the same audience would appreciate the other mysteries I follow on the TCM channel, which I put up in another regular series of posts.

Art Imitating Life, Prediction Murder RHM #3
I submit this comment in the hope of keeping our spirits up during the dark winter nights until the 2021 mystery movies releases :-):
Jake and Ruby are primus inter pares of the rom com murder mystery crime-busting dynamic duos that I’ve seen. I can’t understand why other reviewers have experienced such negative vibes. Ruby is lissom, feisty, fit and athletic, accomplished, intrepid, stunningly beautiful and sharp as a Japanese dagger. Jake is lean, laconic, tough as ole’ hickory, totally professional, wholly focused, utterly fearless and undyingly devoted to Ruby as well as being ruggedly handsome or cute as Charlotte aptly described him to her ever-loving older sister. Jake reminds me of Detective Inspector Walter H. Thompson who was Winston Churchill’s bodyguard for 18 years including WW2. DI Thompson shielded Churchill from repeated assassination attempts and numerous dangers of all-out war. Whilst Ruby could be a match for any assailant – any opportunistic male who tried to intercept her during her morning runs would have the daylights kicked of him – with Jake as her protector, any would-be molester would not survive, or at least find himself instantly face-down in the dirt and cuffed with Jake’s knee in the small of his back. Keep up the good work, guys, onwards and upwards to RHM#4+. Prediction Murder 9/10 – it would be nice to see more of Jake and Ruby’s respective families, being close-knit as they are
