The new Laurie Cass series looks intriguing. I had been getting bored with some of the series I was reading, but I really liked the first book in Victoria Abbot’s new series and the second book in Elizabeth Craig’s series. I am looking forward to their new releases.

Laura, I have been known to drop a lot of my favorite authors for just that reason. When it comes to the point that I’m not looking forward to spending time with my sleuths and their “villages” — it’s time for me to retire their authors/creators from my favorite authors lists.

    Thanks, Danna

I’m looking forward to reading several of the books on this list. I believe ‘Missing Dough’ by Chris Cavender will also be released in December. It’s pictured on your list home page.

Good Grief…………you’d think I’d learn. Sorry. For some reason I saw the release date for Missing Dough as Dec. 3, 2013. Well, it’s for the paperback! Who knew the paperback would follow the hardcover (I didn’t even know there was a hardcover) by just a week or two!

AND, 10 lashes with a wet noodle to me for missing it in the blog’s November releases.

MJ, that really is odd that Missing Dough is being released in hardcover and then a few weeks later in paperback. I wonder what the reasoning is behind this type of idea.

I like the Chris Cavender The Pizza Lover’s Mystery series. I purchase this series on my Nook. I am a bit behind though in this series. The books are coming faster than I can read them. When reading this series, it’s hard not to get the craving for pizza. 🙂

Anyway, this is a good series to start. It reminds me of the Soap Making Mysteries by Tim Myers. Wonderful stories and easy reading.

I wish more books would come out for the Soap Making Mystery Series.

Thanks for the list. I’ve been watching Death in Paradise on KERA on Saturdays. A nice change to have a Caribbean flare.

Ann, I don’t know what KERA is, but I wish I had it! Sounds like Death in Paradise is a good show.

Oh, I just looked it up ans see it’s your PBS station. I will check and see if mine shows Death in Paradise, but I don’t think it does.

Oh wow Danna, Joan Hess is back with Claire Mallory. It’s been quite awhile!! I hope Ms. Hess will soon revive her Arley Hanks/Maggody series. Arley has been expecting for a long time now!! I loved both of these series.
I know sometimes we can get tired of some series. But how often have we complained about our favorites giving us the same old same old all the time but then also complain when the writer changes something in her/his novels??.
I just finished reading “The Whole Enchilada” by Diane Mott Davidson. I know I have complained several times about this author killing off the jerk. But I still want her to continue writing about Goldy and her cast of characters.
I loved this book. I think the last chapter was hurried along some but I still want to read more and more books from this author.

Patti S, you have it pretty easy, just having to ask your husband to bring home the books. You don’t even have to log on to your library’s site…

And it is the last one in the Pennyfoot series. I finished it Thursday. I still do not have them all, as the earlier works are coming out in e format. I enjoy the series, but they ended on a good note.

Janice, do you mean Kate Kingsbury’s Mulled Christmas is the last Special Pennyfoot Hotel mystery or that it is the last one that has been published so far?

According to the preface of the Mulled Christmas book..”To my readers, I’m sad to say that this book will be the last in the Pennyfoot Hotel Mysteries. The characters are looking forward to new lives and it is time to let them go.”

There is more thanks, etc, and at the end, “I’m not giving up writing, and Kate Kingsbury will strive to entertain you well into the future.”

As my Kindle opens to chapter one, I might have missed this, but I always back page it, because I like to read the thanks, introductions, etc. If I hadn’t had that habit, I would have missed it.

            Thanks for your wonderful website.
            Janice

Julia, I just went to Kate Kingsbury’s page and was surprised to see that she hasn’t released a WW II Manor House mystery since 2006…

(I don’t know if you know this, but Mulled Murder is the last of the Pennyfoot mysteries.)

I picked up a book from my library on Friday. Just published. I can’t find any place on this site to post it. It is THE BIG BOOK OF CHRISTMAS MYSTERIES,about 57 short stories by well known authors and some not so much and all types, it is edited by Otto Penzler. He used to have a monthly magazine. With 650 pages I decided I wouldn’t spend all the time reading this so went out today and bought it! I have read many Chrstmas novels over the years and have a few paperback I may read again. There used to be special books with some short stories, novels but I haven’t seen any for years. but this is something I will dip into for years. It is a trade paperback with a list price of $25. but can be bought cheaper at Barnes & Noble or Amazon. When we get closer I’ll probably read one or two daily.

Not seeing any of my favorite authors in New mysteries at my local library and Nothing there I thought when I saw MURDER AND MOONSHINE by Carol Miller. not my type I thought. a first novel. This takes place in a small town in south west Virginia Mountains. Daisy a young waitress trying to support herself and pay for her mothers medical. An old man comes into the diner and drops dead. His death is suspicious and she no longer knows who she can trust. I found her fascinating and the area different than mine having grown up in a suburban location in the city of Cincinnati and having lived in Baltimore city and county found this so different. I am glad I followed my impulse to check it out.
