I don’t have much news this month. However, what little news I do have will undoubtedly make a lot of Cozy Mystery readers very happy. So, let’s get started!
This first tidbit will be a very welcome one for many of us. Donna Andrews, the author of the wildly popular Meg Langslow Mystery Series, has just signed on to write three more mysteries! They ought to keep Meg (and Donna!) very busy solving crimes.
Now here’s some news about an author who will be donning “a new persona.” Many of you recognize that Ali Brandon writes the very popular Black Cat Bookshop Mystery Series and also the Leonardo da Vinci Historical Mystery Series as Diane A. S. Stuckart. Well, starting very soon she will take on the third moniker: Anna Gerard. As Anna she will be writing a mystery series that is set in Georgia – more precisely in a Bed & Breakfast scenario. Death in a Penguin Suit will be the first in this series. I’ll let you know when we can expect to see it.
As if best selling Victoria Laurie isn’t busy enough! Victoria writes both the very popular Psychic Eye Mystery Series and the Ghost Hunter Series – as well as a children’s mystery series called the Oracles of the Delphi Mystery Series. Well here’s some great news. She has just signed on to start a new series: the Life Coach Mystery Series. Now that sounds interesting!
Most of you know Jess Lourey as the author who writes the Murder-by-Month Mystery Series. Last year she started a non-Cozy series with Salem’s Ciphers. The series features sleuth Salem Wiley, an agoraphobic cryptanalyst. The good news is that Salem will be back in Mercy’s Chase. (Don’t worry, I’ll keep you posted about when it will be released.)
And here’s my final news item. Loretta Ross, author of the Auction Block Mystery Series, will be bringing us a fourth mystery starring the Wren Morgan and Death Bogart crime-solving team!
That wraps up the Cozy Mystery news for this month. I hope (at least) one of these items has given you some anticipated reading pleasure!

Betsy, I always enjoy being able to give good news!

I shall now creep off to add Victoria Laurie’s “Psychic Eye” and “Ghost Hunter” seriesesesesesesesesssss…~slaps self in face~ to my evergrowing list.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Bek, I’m always glad to let people know that they can look forward to another set of books from favorite authors!
Susy says
Bek, I am quite fond of the Psychic Eye series and the Ghost Hunter is good as well. I just have found that I sometimes have difficulty with some (though not all) paranormal books. I think they are good books, well written, good plots, etc., but I get stuck and have to stop reading them for a while.
Of course the Sofie Kelly/Sofie Ryan cats are a different story. They are just fun and I got really lucky over the holiday weekend and got my hands on the newest one before the release date. Finished it in one day and loaned it to my sister who finished it the next day.

I want to let you know your posts are making great inroads in at least one big library. I check out ebooks from the Phoenix Public Library and they are just beginning to build their cozy collection. They have, however, developed a recommendation system and I have flooded them with books from your blog, in particular the “new release” posts. To date, they’ve purchased 20 of the ones “WE” have recommended which is a pretty good track record.
Thank you on behalf of all the cozy fans in the Phoenix area who opt to read their books electronically. We appreciate your dedication to the cozy writers AND readers of the world.

Linda, I’m glad that the list is helping you get access to the types of books that you’re looking for! I’ve usually found that local libraries are quite helpful when asked to get a specific book, though I’ll admit that I haven’t used the library much since the beginning of the “ebook era”.
Susy says
Linda,
I am so happy to hear that. I will be returning to the Phoenix area in less than two years when I retire. I currently have enough unread books to keep me busy for a couple of year (yes, years), but once I retire, my book budget is going to be much smaller and I will need to be a regular library patron again.

I really enjoy these posts! I only found them recently, but I find them very helpful! Most of my favorite ‘cozy’ mystery authors are already in them, but I haven’t seen anything yet about Joanna Carl, Sheila Connolly, Julie Hyzy, Lorena McCourtney or Ann B Ross. They all show under ‘cozy’ when I look them up in the library. From your posts I see when my favorite authors (most of whom you DO have on your lists!) publish new books, & I can add them to my list of ‘want to read’ & then put them on hold at the library – or the bookstore. I love Krista Davis’s ‘diva’ books & hope she writes more. So far, I’ve read them all. Same with Laurien Berenson. And oh my, I think Anne George was just THE BEST!!! I am sure she would have written many more ‘sisters’ books, had she not died. So anyway, thank you so much for your posts! They are very, very helpful!

Susan, I do have another part of the site that has all of the listed authors such as JoAnna Carl. I don’t have full posts on each of them (yet – I do plan on eventually writing about most if not all of those you mention!) but they are on the list, so you can find their books in chronological order. And if you are looking for another specific author you can always try searching through the search bar on the left as well!
Susan G says
I did not know that! Thanks!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Susan, it’s no problem! And you’re welcome!

I don’t understand why neither of my comments will be published. I completed all the required fields. I realize on the first one I forgot to add my last name initial, but I included it on the 2nd one. Are my comments not appropriate?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Susan, to cut down on certain types of problems in the comments (including trolls, insulting comments, excessively negative comments, profanity, blatant advertising, and other potential issues) I approve all comments manually. So sometimes it takes up to a day for comments to become live.
Susy says
Now I know, you are just a glutton for punishment! However I, and I suspect all of us, do appreciate all that you do for us. It is really nice to go to a blog, and not have a bunch of nasty stuff to get through, to read the stuff of value.
Thank you.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Thanks Susy! For what it is worth, almost everything goes up as soon as I see it, because we have a very good reader base and the spam filter can pick up almost anything I wouldn’t approve at this point. And another reason I should have mentioned for me personally approving messages is that I make an effort to respond to almost all of them, which helps me keep in touch with the site’s visitors.

Thanks for the info, Danna. I haven’t yet read the series by Ms. Brandon or Ms. Laurie, but I am a big fan of Meg Langslow and the the gang, and I’ve definitely enjoyed the books by Loretta Ross. Wren and Death are great characters. Glad another book is coming!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Linda, I’m glad to be able to let you know that the series will be getting more entries!

So happy Meg Langslow series is continuing — my absolutely favorite “wacky” cozy series!!!

Margaret, as always I’m glad to pass along good news!
