Here’s the month’s Cozy Mystery news for November, 2018! There’s a fair amount of it this month, which is always good news itself!
First, Kathleen Bridge will be writing at least two more in her By the Sea Mystery Series, extending the series about Liz Holt, worker at a family owned inn on Melbourne Beach, Florida, to at least five entries. She also writes the Hamptons Home & Garden Mystery Series, starring a former home and garden writer in the Hamptons.
Next, Frances Brody has released some details on A Snapshot of Murder, slated to be the 10th in the Kate Shackleton Mystery Series, starring a WWI widow in a small village in England in the 1920s. In this entry, Kate will need to go to a recently opened museum to investigate the death of one of the seven photographers who was attending the opening.
Vickie Fee will be starting a new mystery series, the Movie Palace Mystery Series, which will likely have at least three entries. The first entry in the series will be named My Fair Latte, and the series will star the owner of an old movie theater. Fee is already the author of the Liv and Di in Dixie Mystery Series, starring party planner Liv McKay and her best friend Di Souther, set in Dixie, Tennessee.
Next up, Victoria Gilbert will be releasing at least two more books in her Blue Ridge Library Mystery Series, which stars Amy Webber, a former university librarian now managing a public library in a historic town in Virginia. This will bring the series to five books when they are released.
Finally, Tina Kashian will be releasing two more entries in her Kebab Kitchen Mystery Series, which stars Lucy Berberian, an ex-lawyer working at a family Mediterranean restaurant on the Jersey Shore. Though the names for the books haven’t been released yet, the first will be Easter-themed, the fifth Christmas-themed, and will hopefully be released in March 2020 and October 2020 respectively.
And that’s it for this month’s Cozy Mystery news!

Thanks for keeping us updated on the cozy mystery authors. I’ve discovered new authors in your posts that I’ve read and loved.

Barbara, you’re welcome, and I’m glad that the blog is helpful in finding new Cozies.

I have just discovered your website and have a suggestion for your list of mysteries:
Author: Martin Walker
Series: Bruno, Chief of Police
There are 14 books in the series so far. The stories take place in a village in the south of France.

Janet, thanks for the recommendations – I’ll have to check out these authors some time, though my list of authors to look into is quite long at this point!

And here’s another:
Author: Mark Schweizer
Series: The Liturgical Mysteries
First one in the series: The Alto Wore Tweed
Last one in the series: The Choir Director Wore Out
There are 15 books in the series. All available on Kindle for $2.99.
In THE ALTO WORE TWEED, we meet Hayden Konig–police chief of the small North Carolina town of St. Germaine. He’s also the choir director for St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.
Margaret Smith says
How can you not include Louise Penny’s new book?!?! It’s out at the end of the month. Best writer ever!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Margaret, I generally don’t list new books for this month in news posts, instead they’re for news on books that have been announced but often don’t even have titles yet – so very very “advance notice” sort of posts. New releases have their own posts, generally every Monday.

I sent this email several days ago and it still hasn’t been posted. It’s probably moot now since no one will check back this much later. I really thought others my want to know when books that appear to be only on kindle are also available in paperback. I know several people have commented (on this blog) they don’t read books on kindle for a variety of reasons.

Confusion??? Here’s an FYI
When you follow the link from this site to Amazon for Killing By the Sea, they only list a kindle book and a audio CD book. So I thought this was another book only available on kindle. But then I found it in book form on BN site. Further search found it in paperback on Amazon.

MJ, just found this post (and the previous one) in my spam filter. It’s pretty aggressive about outside links, but I unmarked this one and deleted the original.

MJ,
I think this is a print on demand book. It previously was only available as an e-book. I have found this to be the case on several in the past couple of years. I don’t know what the criteria is for it to move from just electronic to print, but I wish there were more like this I could order. My eyes really don’t like reading on electronic devices for more than an hour or two, and I can easily read a book a day if it is in print.

Hi Dana. Are you going to post October’s free and cheap cozy mysteries?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Annette, I did post an October cheap Kindles list, if that’s what you mean, here: October Cheap Kindles. It looks like I forgot to add that post to the list of cheap Kindles entries, I’ve added it now.
Delores Hanney says
Dana or other readers, are you aware of any cozy mysteries with a theme of architecture, especially vintage architecture rather than bookbinders or bakeries, etc?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Delores, hmm, I’m not sure if I have a category that exactly fits that one… I’ll have to write it down to make a category for it later!
Susy S says
Shannon Hammer in the fixer upper mysteries by Kate Carlisle restores Victorian mansions they discuss a lot of architectural elements as they go through the process.
