I wasn’t quite sure if I would have any Cozy Mystery news to tell you about, but it seems I do! And it involves some very big names in the Cozy Mystery genre!
First for some very sad news. Donald Bain passed away last month. He brought so many hours of reading pleasure to a lot of us – as we followed Jessica Fletcher’s crime-solving adventures in the Murder, She Wrote book series.

Was I correct in saying there were some really big names in the Cozy Mystery genre in the Cozy Mystery News for November 2017?!

Sad news about Donald Bain. I really enjoy the Jessica Fletcher books. He was also the ghost writer for Margaret Truman’s books. Great news about JoAnna Carl and Miranda James. Both of those series are fun, interesting reads.

Some good news! However, darn it… I love the Bridge series written as Honor Hartman, and the ones written as Jimmie Ruth Evans… the Cat in the Stacks, not so much. I wish the publisher would let her publish more of MY favorites, especially the Bridge ones!!

Yay for Both JoAnna Carl and Miranda James! I enjoy both of these mystery series! Diesel is a hoot! The chocolate information that is included in the Carl series is both interesting and informative. Congratulations to the other authors also.

So glad to hear there will be more Georgie books from Rhys Bowen (one of my MOST favorite series) and more of the Chocoholic books (another most loved series)!
Sad news about Donald Bain! Wondering if that’s the end of the line for Jessica Fletcher or is there any word on someone else (his daughter perhaps?) continuing the series?

The “Murder, She Wrote” series is expected to be continued by Mr. Bain’s most recent collaborator, Jon Land.

Shan, it really is a sad loss. Thanks for the post though – it sounds like at least the Murder, She Wrote series might be continuing, though I’m sure it will have to change a lot without him.

Recently finished reading A Quiet Life in the Country, a Lady Hardcastle Mystery, by T. E. Kinsey. Really enjoyed Lady Hardcastle and her adventures with her maid. I had to look up a few of the British words, enjoyed their humor and am looking forward to reading more in the series. I guess each book reveals more about the mystery in her own life.

Awww so sad about Donald Bain’s passing! He did write an amazing amount of Jessica books but it’s always sad to think there won’t be any more unless someone takes over for him.

Tari, according to another commenter further up, a Donald Bain obituary says that another author, Jon Land, will be taking over the Murder, She Wrote series.
