May is a bit better than last month for Cozy Mystery News – this month we’ve got three pieces of news for site authors!
First, Frances Brody will be adding two more books in the Kate Shackleton Mystery Series, which stars a widow in a small village in post-WWI England. This will be the thirteenth novel in the series.
Next, Sarah Fox will be adding two more books to her Literary Pub Mystery Series, which stars a pub owner catering to lovers of literature in Vermont. This will bring the series to a total of five entries. She’s also the author of the Pancake House Mystery Series, and the Music Lover’s Mystery Series.
Finally, Elizabeth George (who isn’t really Cozy in my mind, but still very much a favorite!) will be putting out the 21st in her long-running Inspector Lynley Mystery Series, titled Something to Hide. This is quite good news, as this series has been slowing down a bit relatively recently – but still just as appreciated when it arrives!
Marsha Bly says
Thanks for the great news on Elizabeth George new release! Have been a fan of the Lynley books from the beginning!!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Marsha, you’re welcome! I’ve also been a fan for a long time on this one! Though I’m afraid my memory is no longer quite good enough to say if I’ve been reading since the series started, 30+ years ago now…
Mary Catherine Headley says
Love Elizabeth George! Do you know when this is due?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Mary, sorry, no, I don’t – most of these are just being announced as agreements with the publisher to write the book, so it could be quite some time, or it could be something she’s been working on for a while now.
Mary Catherine Headley says
Thank you! The last Lynley came out in 2018, so I’m hoping for fall lol!
Bek says
Thankfully, nothing on my list this time! Why thankfully? Because I broke the bank ordering the all but the first six of the “Miss Fortune” series by Jana DeLeon. BTW…this is the funniest cozy series I have ever read…laugh out loud till your ribs hurt funny.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Bek, thanks for the recommendation! I’ve definitely heard good things about the series.
Bev D says
I’ve read cozy mysteries for many years BUT had never been
introduced to Jana Deleon … Oh my gosh, I have NEVER laughed so much – out loud. Bought all 16 & just ordered #17.
Passed this along to one of my sisters. Another sister from GA moved to LA & says she understands these books perfectly !!
Love all different book topics, but the comic relief of these books are over the top entertainment. Never saw this coming !!!!
From a Georgia girl
Bek says
Bev D,
Aren’t they a HOOT? And there’s a Sinful, LA website with all of the characters, bios, ect, SO clever! AND you can print out a certificate of Honorary Membership in the Sinful Ladies Society! Mine hangs proudly on the wall by my desk in the office/library.
Bev D says
Bek, oh my gosh.. you need to be in the same room reading these.. when you fall off the chair laughing, someone will understand!! Such hilarity! Did not know about the website but will definitely follow up.. Thank you so much for your comments.

Bek, if you are in the US, try “Libby”. It allows you to borrow ebooks and audiobooks from the library free of charge. The books scoot themselves back to the library on their due date, so no fear of overdue fees. I have literally saved thousands of dollars by using Libby instead of buying! Some libraries, such as Philidelphia and Brooklyn, allow out of area use for $50 per year, a bargain as far as I’m concerned!
Bek says
I will certainly look into that!
Bek says
YAY! My library has Libby! BOO! My library’s web site has a malfunctioning “reCAPTCHA” button, so I can’t prove that I’m not a robot. The reCAPTCHA button for emails also is not working. I did call them. The poor librarian that I talked to literally whimpered. It will be reported to tech support, and hopefully I can get a library card soon!
I don’t have one simply because I’m old enough not to think in terms of ebooks, and since I no longer drive, cab trips to the library weekly are NOT possible!
Susy S says
How had I not heard about this author/series? It sounds right up my alley.
If you have not tried them yet, check out the Sophie Kimball series by J. C. Eaton. Most of the characters are real characters and I get quite the chuckle from some of them.
Bek says
Susy S, just added that series to my ever-growing list!
Susy S says
Bek,
I just discovered that I have the first Miss Fortune book in my Kindle books. I will check it out soon.
Susy S says
Bek,
I found that I had the first Miss Fortune book in my free Kindle books, so I had to read it. Now I want the rest.
I would say Fortune, in this book, is kind of a cross between Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality and Janet Evanovichs’ Kate O’Hare.
I also have one of the books in the other series, but it is not the first, so I am going to have to buy some books, again.
Donna McLean says
Hi Danna, the creator of the Death in Paradise TV show has written novels based on the characters! I just found out about it! The author’s name is Robert Thorogood and he’s on the Amazon site. Thought you might like to take a look and add it to your website. I haven’t read the books yet but they all have good reviews and say it’s still cozy like the TV show.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Donna, I’ll have to take a look at those!
Diane Mayer says
I really enjoy the Cozy Mysteries… DB
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Diane, so do I!
