I have several Cozy Mystery newsy tidbits that I want to tell you all about, so I’m going to post the second part of this Cozy Mystery News entry tomorrow. (Good grief, it’s been a while since I did this!) Let’s see, I think I’ll do this alphabetically >>> starting right now:
Stephanie Blackmoore (previously a lawyer and, even a librarian!) will be releasing Gown with the Wind – a new book in her Wedding Planner Mystery Series. This time, wedding planner Mallory Shepard will have a surprising client…
Ali Brandon will be starting the new Tarot Cat Mystery Series. That’s right, this will be in addition to her Black Cat Bookshop Mystery Series. The Tarot Cat series will be set in a santería shop in Florida. (According to Dictionary.com, a santeria is: “a religion merging the worship of Yoruba deities with veneration of Roman Catholic saints: practiced in Cuba and spread to other parts of the Caribbean and to the U.S. by Cuban emigrés.”) As Diane A.S. Stuckart, she writes the Leonardo da Vinci Historical Mystery Series.
We haven’t seen the Prissy Fox Shop owner Reagan Summerside since 2015, so fans of Duffy Brown‘s popular Consignment Shop Mystery Series will be happy to know book #6 (Lethal in Old Lace) will be taking us back for another visit to Georgia. By the way, Duffy Brown writes the Cycle Path Mystery Series and is also known for her romance novels which she writes as Dianne Castell.
Elizabeth Kane Buzzelli has signed on to write books number 3 & 4 of her Little Library Mystery Series. Jenny Weston will again be sleuthing up a storm in Bear Falls, Michigan. Fans of Elizabeth Kane Buzzelli (aka Elizabeth Lee for the Nut House Mystery Series) probably also know her as the author of the Emily Kincaid Mystery Series, which also takes place in Michigan.
Kate Carlisle is one busy Cozy Mystery author! Many of you know that this bestselling author’s Fixer-Upper Mystery Series is one of the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel mystery movie series. Well, here’s some more good news! She has just signed to write two more Cozies that will feature California-based Shannon Hammer. (Hopefully that will give us more mystery movies to look forward to!) Kate Carlisle also writes the Bibliophile Mystery Series.
Eva Gates (pseudonym for Vicki Delany) writes the Lighthouse Library Mystery Series, and for those of us who are fans, there will be at least three more Cozies in this series! That’s right, librarian Lucy Richardson and her Himalayan library cat, Charles, will be on the trail of criminals. As Vicki Delany she writes the Year-Round Christmas Mystery Series, the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery Series, the Constable Molly Smith Mystery Series, the Ray Robertson Mystery Series, and the Klondike Mystery Series.
Debra H. Goldstein is someone who knows how to juggle titles. She’s not only wears all of the titles associated with being a wife, stepmom, and mom, but she’s also worked as an attorney and judge. She will be releasing One Taste Too Many, which will be the first in a series that features one of a set of twins as its sleuth. She also writes the Carrie Martin and the Mah Jongg Players Mystery Series along with the Denney Silber Mystery Series.
As I said at the beginning of this entry, I’ll be posting the second part of this Cozy Mystery News blog tomorrow.
Here’s the second part of this newsy entry:
Cozy Mystery News – August 2017 – Part 2
Pam says
So glad to hear that the Lighthouse Library series will continue. I was really bummed when I read that the third one would be the last one.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Pam, I know – it’s always great news when a series you think is ending will continue!
Mem says
I’m glad Lethal in Old Lace finally has a confirmed release date. I am a big time fan of both of Duffy Brown’s series. And I’ll have to try Ali Brandon’s new series. Thanks for the update.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Mem, you’re welcome! I’m always glad to be able to relay good news.
Bek says
LOL, You know by now that I’m a sucker for cats, and the paranormal, so The Tarot Cat series will be joining my other Ali Brandons!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Bek, I’m glad to be able to pass on good news on new series! I hope you enjoy the upcoming series.
Jo Anne says
All of these are new authors for me so thank you.
Currently have 20 pages left in Donna Andrews “Gone Gull”. Power outage for no reason last evening or I would have been done reading it then.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Jo Anne, I’m sorry if you’re having power issues. Personally I do a lot of reading with either a Kindle or a reading light, so if it becomes a regular problem you might look into one or the other.
Linda MH says
Danna,
I bought a camping headlamp (never camped a day in my life, though–LOL!). I use it reading in bed when my husband is asleep. Works well and didn’t cost a lot.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Linda, sure, sounds like a good solution!
Jeannine says
I listen to audiobooks. Is there a list for new cozy mystery audiobooks?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Jeannine, unfortunately I don’t keep a list of upcoming Cozy audiobooks.
Linda MH says
Danna,
Thanks for sharing all this good news. I’m especially thrilled to see the new Consignment Shop Mystery listed. Love this series!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Linda, you’re welcome – and I’m always glad to be able to relay good news!
Becky W says
Duffy Browns Consignment Shop isn’t set in Mackinac Island. She will be having a new one in the Cycle Path series next year I believe.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Becky, thanks for correcting me. Somehow I got confused between her two series — strange since I read and enjoy setting of the Consignment Shop mysteries! (A post I made only last year about the first of the series is here.) I’ve made a correction to the entry.
Sue F says
So glad to hear about Lethal in Lace! I thought this series had ended and was very disappointed. Thanks for sharing the good news!!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Sue, you’re welcome, and as always, I’m glad to be able to give good news about a series!
shan says
I understand the Hamlet and Darla series by Ali Brandon ended so I’m to see a new one starting up. CAN NOT WAIT!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Shan, I’m glad to be able to relay good news!
MJ says
I’m just curious…..
Eva Gate’s Lighthouse series was cancelled awhile ago. Did the publisher (Berkley) change their mind or did she get a new publisher for this series?
I ask because I’ve often seen a series ‘disappear’ for several years and then when it returns it’s with a different publisher, or, in some cases, even self-published.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
MJ, very fortunately, there is a new publishing house in town! Crooked Lane Books is actually publishing several of the authors I highlighted this month. They seem to specialize in picking up already-established series – and I’m guessing these are series which the authors own the rights to.
