Charlaine Harris: Aurora Teagarden Mystery Series

January 11, 2016

Some of you may know that I have been an Aurora Teagarden fan for many years. Yep, I’ve been a fan since way before the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel started airing the Aurora Teagarden mystery movies. (Actually even way, way, way before there was even a Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel!) And I know there are many of you who have also been Aurora Teagarden fans, from way, way back.

A lot of us were very sad when Charlaine Harris stopped writing her Aurora Teagarden Mystery Series in lieu of her paranormal endeavors: Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire series and her Harper Connolly series.  Granted, both of her paranormal series did very well, they just weren’t Aurora Teagarden!

So, for those of you who follow Aurora Teagarden, there’s great news! Charlaine Harris will be penning more for us >>> Aurora Teagarden will be back! All the Little Liars (the ninth mystery in the series) will be published in October (currently scheduled for then) and I’m hoping that even more will be following right behind!

Isn’t this great news?

That is great news. I hope she writes a lot more. I’d also like to see more of her Shakespeare series. I like Sookie and Harper, but cozy mysteries are my first love.

Dragons3, when I saw that Hallmark Movies & Mysteries were going to be adapting this series into their movies, I was sooooo hoping that if the movies were a hit, Charlaine Harris would possibly write more. I thought it would be too good to be true if she did. I am so happy she has decided to go back to Aurora!

This is such good news. I was always a big fan of Aurora Teagarden books and also enjoyed the Shakespeare books too. I liked Harper and Lily B but never could get into Sookie even if all the books were in my house since grandson read them. I must admit I liked Day shift and looking forward to Night shift later this year. Here’s to October and All the Little Liars.

Ruth, it’s been so long since I read her Lily Bard Shakespeare mysteries that I only “sort of remember” they weren’t all that Cozy. What do you think? However, I enjoyed them a lot.

So so happy to know that she wrote other books, before! Hooray! Thank you so much for telling me this. Now I have a new author to delve into.

Hi again. This is wonderful news. I bought those Aurora Teagarden books when they were first published, so glad that I kept them….and have a new one in the series to look forward to.
I don’t know if you ever do crossover from your different Cozy postings….but I think I saw you writing about enjoying one series but not checking out anything else by the same author. (Jill Churchill?). I have been the same with Charlaine Harris, and have never read any Vampire offerings. Perhaps I’ll go a bit broader with Charlaine as well, at least when I get through a few more dozen of my TBR pile.

That is FANTASTIC news!! I received an audible.com daily deal months back for the first Aurora Teagarden mystery, Real Murders, and absolutely loved it!! That audiobook was the beginning of my affinity for the series. I was just shopping around for other books in the series this past Saturday!! I had avoided books by Charlaine Harris because I don’t do paranormal, so I’m so glad she’s going to be continuing the Aurora Teagarden series. Thanks for sharing this wonderful news!!

I missed Charlaine when she was “away” writing the other books, but I’m sure they brought her lots of well-deserved financial success! Love to see a good writer do well.

There is a new mystery series being published by Annie’s….The Amish Inn Mysteries. I just got the flyer in today’s mail with information about the first three books….and all appear to be written by Rachael Phillips…

    Secrets of the Amish Diary
    Plain Deception
    Simple Lies

The story starts with Liz Eckardt trading her highly successful and stressful career as a Boston attorney for a new start as the owner of a local bed and breakfast in Pleasant Creek, IN. Liz’s mother has died and in among her things Liz finds a diary detailing her mother’s life growing up in the Amish community…so of course, this a mystery Liz will want to solve….finding her Amish roots.

Not sure how many books will be in this series as the flyer only outlines the first three.

Bev S, thank you so very much for the information about Annie’s Amish Inn Mystery Series. I went over to their website, but wasn’t able to find out when they will start releasing the mysteries. (Of course, that didn’t surprise me since they are extremely secretive about their book series over there.) I’ll try to remember to keep on trying to access the dates, but the information you have given us is absolutely great!

Thank you, again, for the information.

        Danna…

Additionally, these books will be available (according to the flyer) in both hardback and ebooks….also I noticed they removed the Vineyard series from the list of series….but I’m opting for the hardback books…have lots of other books on my iPad in both Kindle and iBooks for trips away, and I still love the smell of books and the feel and sounds of pages rustling…will keep you posted as I learn new things about the series.

Bev, thank you so much! It doesn’t surprise me they removed their Vineyard Quilt Mystery Series. Since it was the first one that wasn’t a mail-order series, and they didn’t seem to know how to market it. I kept looking for more in the series (as I’m guessing a lot of other Cozy Mystery readers did) >>> but they just never were published.

            And Danna…

I just finished talking to my mother and she has flyers for both the Amish Inn Series and a new series the Victorian Mansion Flower Shop Mysteries…

The first three books in the series are:

A Fatal Attraction by Jan Fields
            The Mistletoe Murder
            Bloomed to Die

Have no idea who writes the last two, and again they aren’t posted on Annie’s website yet….

Hi. One of the great things about this blog (besides the obvious) is sharing the names of some older cozy mysteries. Confession…I am not familiar with Janis Harrison…I was never big on gardening mysteries. On the other hand, Rett MacPherson….loved them! I have several in my collection. (Interesting characters, she a mid-aged mother, works part time at the local small town museum, is also a genealogist, crazy family…two teenage daughters who feud, a long-suffering husband, a mother living with them..she in a wheelchair and eventually marrying the sometime nemesis police chief)…. See, great plots! I’ve only read the first 7, was surprised to read there were more. The books were still being released in hardcover, too. There were a few complaints about too much emphasis on the genealogy information by some critics, but…. Wish I knew more to help solve this “mystery”, but I don’t. Delightful small town Cozies, with an evolving story. (NO vampires, either!). Well worth searching out, I think. Thanks again for the reminder, Danna.

I loved both the Aurora Teagarden and Sookie Stackhouse series. I’ve only seen a couple of the Aurora Teagarden movies, but they were well done. I do have one question: in the books Aurora says that people laugh when she introduces herself. Can anybody tell me why? I seem to be missing the joke. Thanks.

I’ve just received the new Teagarden novel and devoured it over two evenings (I usually only do a couple of chapters before turning in) and Amazon are now telling me there’s another one in the pipeline. I’ve caught a couple of the films here in the UK but they are on an obscure channel without a press listing, so it’s hit or miss.
