Upcoming Television Mystery Movies for March 2020

February 20, 2020

Great news for those of us who enjoy Eddie Muller’s Noir Alley – he’s back with the noir mysteries he selects for us to watch. I know Turner Classic Movies likes to show Oscar-winning movies during every February, but (to me!) it seems a shame they can’t spare just four hours every week during February for those of us who are totally addicted to these mystery movies – as well as Mr. Muller’s terrific introductions and wrap-ups at the beginning/end of each film noir he presents. Oh well, at least February is the shortest month of the year…

Without further ado, here are the mystery movies Turner Classic

Movies channel will be showing during March 2020:

Upcoming Television Mystery Movies for February 2020

January 19, 2020

Yikes! I have just finished my February 2020 Turner Classic Movies mystery movies blog entry, but where’s Eddie Muller’s Noir Alley? I just take it for granted that these weekly treats will show up late Saturday nights and early Sunday mornings. However, I can’t find them! And, what’s worse is that February 2020 doesn’t seem to have a whole lot of mystery movies for those of us who look forward to them. What a big let down! Instead, TCM is focusing on Oscar winning movies. (I sort of remember the same thing happening last year.) Oscar winning movies are great, but so are noir alley movies!

Upcoming Television Mystery Movies for January 2020

December 20, 2019

Happy 2020 New Year! Can you believe we have come this far — after all the hoopla of the “Y2K” idiocy exactly twenty years ago? Yep, those were the days!

When I was compiling this list of mystery movies that will be shown on the Turner Classic Movies channel, a few things stood out: 1) TCM is featuring “futuristic” movies on the first day of the month (although I’m not sure they’re as “futuristic” as 2020) as well as some movies featuring mobsters. AND 2) Wednesday the eighth features mysterious mansions.

P.S. Good grief! I mistakenly wrote that Joan Blondell is TCM’s January 2020 featured star of the month. She was the featured star for December 2019, so I took that part off my introductory paragraph.

Upcoming Television Mystery Movies for December 2019

November 27, 2019

It’s December again! Every year when I go through TCM’s December schedule I peak ahead to see if we will be seeing Myrna Loy, William Powell, and Asta do some crime-busting. This year is no different, as The Thin Man movies have almost become a December tradition. They’re the types of movies some of us want to watch every time they are on. What a delightful way for us Cozy Mystery lovers to ring in 2020!

And, this being December, I am going to include some of the old Christmas classics on the list of mystery movies that will be playing during December. For those of you who enjoy Christmas movies, not only will TCM be playing some, but the Hallmark and Lifetime channels will be playing lots and lots of them. (Just click here if you would like to see my entry about the Hallmark 2019 Christmas movies.)

If you’re a dog-lover, then you ought to check out TCM’s schedule for Wednesday, December 4. I’m an absolute dog-lover, however, I do NOT like movies that feature animals. For some reason, even though I know the movies are fictitious, I don’t like seeing any type of animal in perilous situations… which an “animal movie” usually has to have in order to create the everything-turns-out-great ending. Anyway, if you like movies that feature dogs, you might want to tune in to TCM that day. Also, Wednesday, December 11 is featuring horse movies and Wednesday, December 18 is featuring an assortment of different animal movies. (Ditto on why I won’t be watching any of them!)
