Guideposts’ Secrets of Blue Hill Library Mystery Series and Mysteries of Silver Peak Mystery Series

April 13, 2015

I just added two Cozy Mystery series to the site which both happen to come from Guideposts.

A Mountain of Mystery by Carole Jefferson (Mysteries of Silver Peak Mystery Series)Mysteries of Silver Peak Mystery Series This series is written by Carole Jefferson. Sadie Speers is the sleuth in this series, and she owns the Antique Mine antiques shop in Silver Peak, Colorado. Silver Peak is a quaint little town that used to be a mining town. Sadie likes to provide background research with the antiques she sells in her shop. Sometimes the histories of the antique items have mysteries associated with them, which Sadie then, after switching into her sleuthing mode, solves! (A Mountain of Mystery is the first in the Mysteries of Silver Peak Mystery Series.)

Nowhere to Be Found by Emily Thomas (Secrets of Blue Hill Library Mystery Series) Secrets of Blue Hill Library Mystery Series This series is written by Emily Thomas. The sleuth, Anne Gibson, is converting the old Victorian house her great-aunt Edie left to her. The house is destined to become the town’s library, just as her Aunt Edie had requested. Anne is a young mother of a nine-year old boy and she has been left widowed. In the first Cozy Mystery of the series Anne finds a hidden room while she is converting the Victorian into a library. (Nowhere to Be Found is the first in the Secrets of Blue Hill Library Mystery Series.)

Guideposts is a company that specializes in “Inspiration. Faith. Hope.” Over the years I have heard from Cozy Mystery readers who enjoy these series a lot. I have several Guideposts mystery series on my site: Church Choir Mysteries Series, Miracles of Marble Cove Mystery Series, Mysteries of Silver Peak Series, Mysteries of Sparrow Island Series, Mystery and the Minister’s Wife Series, Patchwork Mystery Series, Secrets of Blue Hill Library Mystery Series, and Secrets of Mary’s Bookshop Mystery Series. I also have a few of the Guideposts non mystery series on the site: Home to Heather Creek Series, Stories from Hope Haven Series, and Tales from Grace Chapel Inn. This past week I was trying to come up with a way to list all of the Guideposts series (both their mysteries as well as their non mystery series) and I decided to go ahead and make a Guideposts page that has all of the different series listed, with links to their corresponding pages on the site.

Guideposts Mystery Series (and Non Mystery Series)

Thank you, Barb E.! Barb and I have sort of become Cozy Mystery reader pen-pals, although I have to admit that Barb is much better than I am about keeping in touch! Because of Barb, I have been able to find out about new Cozy Mystery series that come from mail-order clubs. Many of which I have listed on my No Swearing/No Profanity Cozy Mystery list.

Last month, Barb sent me a list of lots of Cozy Mysteries from Guideposts. Not only did she give me the titles and authors of some of the books I was missing from these mail-order Cozy Mystery series, but she also told me about the above two Guideposts series.

Again, Barb E, thank you for all of your help!

Vannetta Chapman, Maya Corrigan, Colette London, & Rose Pressey – Four Author Additions to the Cozy Mystery Site

April 9, 2015

I have just added four new Cozy Mystery authors to the Cozy Mystery site. Some of you who are new may wonder where I get the authors I post on my site. I get them from Cozy Mystery readers who have enjoyed their work and want to make sure other Cozy Mystery readers know about them.

Vannetta Chapman, a former teacher with a Master’s Degree in English, has worked as a pianist, church secretary, and an adjunct professor of English Literature. Chapman focuses heavily on faith in her works, and is the author of the Shipshewana Amish Mystery Series, the Amish Village Mystery Series, and the Jacobs Family Mystery Series.

Maya Corrigan is the author of the Five-Ingredient Mystery Series, starring Val Deniston, manager of a fitness club café, the Cool Down Café. (This Cozy Mystery series includes recipes.) Corrigan has taught college classes in writing and literature, designed online learning courses, and has written nonfiction. She lives near Washington D.C. >>> so she’s able to visit the Chesapeake Bay area setting of her series whenever she wants.

Colette London is the author of the Chocolate Whisperer Mystery Series starring Haydon Mundy Moore, a traveling chocolatier, luxury consultant, and amateur sleuth. (This Cozy Mystery series contains recipes.)

Rose Pressey pens multiple mystery series, many of which feature a paranormal element of some kind. Her best selling Haunted Vintage Mystery Series, features Cookie Chanel (the owner of a vintage clothing store) as its sleuth. Pressey also writes the Haunted Tour Guide Mystery Series, the Chase Charley Mystery Series, the Trash to Treasure Crafting Mystery Series, the Haunted Renovation Mystery Series, and the Maggie, PI Mystery Series.

Kerry J Charles, Eva Gates (aka Vicki Delany), Heather Horrocks, T.C. LoTempio, Mary Grace Murphy: Five New Authors on the Cozy Mystery Site

March 10, 2015

Taken as usual from your suggestions, five (or is it six?) new authors being added to the Cozy Mystery Site. With at least one series each, I’m sure that all of these authors will find a great audience here!

Kerry J. Charles   With her Masters degree in Art History, Charles has worked for many prestigious employers, such as National Geographic Magazine, the Smithsonian Museum, and Harvard University. Lucky for us, she is now writing the Dulcie Chambers Mystery Series, starring a museum curator!

Eva Gates (aka Vicki Delany)   Gates writes the Lighthouse Library Mystery Series. A single mother with three daughters, Eva began writing part-time, working as a computer programmer as her main job. When her writing career took off and her daughters grew up, she retired from her programming job and began writing full time. The Lighthouse Library series features Lucy Richardson, the librarian/sleuth and Charles, the library cat. Eva Gates also writes the Constable Molly Smith Mystery Series and Klondike Mystery Series as Vicki Delany. Delany  also writes the Merry Wilkinson Mystery Series.

Heather Horrocks     Horrocks pens the Bad Mothers Club Mystery Series which features Becky Montgomery, a stay-at-home mom in Denver who does a little sleuthing on the side. She also writes the Who-Dun-Him Inn Mystery Series. Vicki Butler is the owner of a bed and breakfast and she is also a lover of mysteries, which comes in very handy in her sleuthing.

T.C. LoTempio    LoTempio has long been a fan of mystery novels, and still loves reading them even after starting her own series, the Nick and Nora Mystery Series. Nora is a sandwich shop owner who, along with Nick (her cat) has taken up solving mysteries.

Mary Grace Murphy    Murphy, upon retiring from her job as a school teacher after 30+ years, decided the time was right to start writing full-time. Murphy now writes the Noshes Up North Cozy Mystery Series, which stars Nell Bailey, herself a recent retiree who has started up a food review blog – and found herself at the center of a number of murders!

Ellie Alexander, Sherry Harris, Christine Husom, Maggie King, Ruth Moose: Five New Cozy Authors on the Cozy Mystery Site

February 14, 2015

It’s time once again to add another set of authors, taken as usual from your suggestions… This time I’ll be adding five new authors, most of whom only have one series (though one has a non-Cozy Mystery series many of you may enjoy!)

Ellie Alexander    Alexander writes the Bakeshop Mystery Series, a Cozy series featuring Jules Capshaw, both an employee at her family Torte Bakeshop and an amateur sleuth living in a quaint Oregon town. Recipes are included in the series. (Meet Your Baker is the first in Bakeshop Mystery Series.)

Sherry Harris    Harris is the writer of the Sarah Winston Garage Sale Mystery Series. A recent divorcée, Sarah’s always looking for a bargain – but sometimes she finds murder instead, and when that happens she’s quick to help get to the bottom of any mystery! (Tagged for Death is the first book in the Sarah Winston Garage Sale Mystery Series.)

Christine Husom    Husom is the author of the Snow Globe Shop Mystery Series, starring Minnesotan Cami Brooks. Cami is an instructor on snow globe construction, as well as the manager of a gift shop. She uses her unique ability to see crime scenes in snow globes to help solve crimes. Husom writes another series set in Minnesota, the Winnebago County Mystery Series, a mystery thriller series. (Snow Way Out is the first book in the Snow Globe Shop Mystery Series.)

Maggie King    King is the author of the Book Group Mystery Series, a series starring amateur sleuth and professional romance writer, Hazel Rose. (Murder at the Book Group is the first in the Book Group Mystery Series.)

Ruth Moose     A North Carolina resident, Moose writes the Beth McKenzie Mystery series. The Dixie Dew is a small bed and breakfast in Littleboro, North Carolina, run by proprietor Beth McKenzie. When tragedy strikes at her small business and home, she’s forced to help solve the crime to keep her business afloat! (Doing It at the Dixie Dew is the first book in the Beth McKenzie Mystery Series.)
