Celina Grace, Jennifer McAndrews, Terrie Farley Moran, & Diane Vallere : Four New Cozy Mystery Authors on the Cozy Mystery Site

August 18, 2014

Here are the four newest Cozy Mystery authors who I have added to the Cozy Mystery site:

Celina Grace   Grace writes the Asharton Manor Mystery Series. This series is being released as novella-length mysteries. All of the mysteries take place in this English estate during different times in history. Death at the Manor is the first mystery at Asharton Manor and it takes place in 1929. The second mystery (A Prescription for Death) takes place after WWII, when Asharton Manor is no longer a beautiful residential estate, but a convalescent home for soldiers. Grace also writes the Kate Redman Mystery Series, which features Detective Sergeant Kate Redman in the south west part of England.

Jennifer McAndrews  McAndrews writes the Stained-Glass Mystery Series which takes place in a small town in New York. Georgia Kelly comes back home to live with her grandfather and to start a new life, leaving her accounting skills behind and pursuing her love for stained-glass artistry. Ill-Gotten Panes is the first in this new Cozy Mystery series. Georgia has to make sure her grandfather doesn’t suffer because a murdered man is her grandpa’s nemesis. McAndrews also writes mysteries for Young Adults.

Terrie Farley Moran  Moran pens the Read ‘Em and Eat Mystery Series. This series features the owners (Sassy Cabot and Bridgy Mayfield)of the Read ‘Em and Eat bookstore café. The first mystery in this series is Well Read, Then Dead. One of the members of the café’s book club is found murdered, and this doesn’t sit well with Sassy or Bridgy. They are determined to find the murderer! Moran also has contributed to several (as well as edited one) New York Tri-State Chapter of Sisters in Crime mystery anthologies.

Diane Vallere  Vallere spent twenty years in the fashion industry, so it’s easy to see why her series are set in that arena. Her Material Witness Mystery Series features a sleuth named Poly Monroe (short for Polyester) who owns a clothing store in California. Poly also is a dress designer. Suede to Rest is the first in this series. Vellere’s Mad for Mod Mystery Series features a sleuth who is an interior decorator. Madison Night is also a fan of Doris Day. In Vallere’s Style & Error Mystery Series, Samantha Kidd is an ex-fashion buyer in Pennsylvania. Oh, and Vallere will also be writing the Costume Shop Mystery Series in 2015.

Cathy Ace, Susan Furlong, Mary Marks, & Karen Rose Smith : Four New Cozy Mystery Authors on the Cozy-Mystery Site

June 5, 2014

I just added four new authors to the Cozy Mystery site. These authors had been recommended to me by other Cozy Mystery readers.

Cathy Ace: Cait Morgan Mystery Series
Cait is a victim profiler who lives in British Columbia. She is Welsh-Canadian, and is a professor. This criminologist not only enjoys profiling, but she also enjoys food.

Susan Furlong (aka Lucy Arlongton and Susan Furlong-Bollinger):
I already mentioned Susan Furlong to you when I told you about Ellery Adams/Jennifer Stanley and Sylvia May handing over the reigns to their Novel Idea Mystery Series. (Susan Furlong will take over as Lucy Arlington.) She currently writes the Pippi O’Brien Mystery Series, and has written several “Untreed Reads” stories, as well as was one of The Killer Wore Cranberry: A Second Helping anthology authors. She will also be writing the Georgia Peach Mystery Series.

Karen Rose Smith: Caprice De Luca Mystery Series
Caprice De Luca was an interior decorator, before she changed professions. She is still decorating the interiors of homes, but now she is working as a home stager. Hmmm… Just what is a home stager? It’s a person who stages homes that are for sale, making them look a lot better than they originally looked. Caprice is part of a large, Italian family in Pennsylvania. Other than home stage homes and sleuth, she also rescues stray animals.

Lynn Cahoon, Lynne E. Chandler, Alyssa Maxwell, & Larissa Reinhart : Four New Authors to the Cozy Mystery Site

May 18, 2014

I recently added four new Cozy Mystery authors to the Cozy Mystery site. (I don’t mean to be confusing, but they aren’t all brand new authors, they’re just new to the Cozy Mystery site.)

Lynn Cahoon: Tourist Trap Mystery Series
This series takes place in South Cove, California – a quaint town on the coast that is just perfect for tourists who want to mosey around in a beautiful setting. Jill Gardner, the sleuth, owns a shop called Coffee, Books, and More. Wouldn’t you just love to do your tourist-thing there? But, beware, remember that Jill is a sleuth…

: Mrs. Baul Investigates: Bishop Kidnapped in Egypt
Chandler has drawn from her experience as an Episcopalian priest’s wife in Cairo, Egypt. She wrote this mystery which features Mrs. Baul, the wife of an Episcopalian priest in Egypt who happens to be a little paranoid – always expecting something not-so-good to happen.

: Gilded Newport Mystery Series
This historical mystery series takes place at the end of the 19th century. Emmaline Cross is a reporter who, by chance, is a Vanderbilt cousin. She does her reporting (and sleuthing!) in Newport, Rhode Island.

Larissa Reinhart: Cherry Tucker Mystery Series
Reinhart is an ex-teacher, with her master’s degree in Art History. She writes the Cherry Tucker Mystery Series which takes place in Georgia. Cherry is a rather feisty artist who sleuths between finding gainful employment.

Beverly Allen (aka Barbara Early), Amanda Cooper (aka Victoria Hamilton), Lois Lavrisa, Dixie Lyle, & Laura Morrigan : Five New Authors to the Cozy Mystery Site

April 12, 2014

I thought it was about time that I add some new mystery authors to the Cozy Mystery site. These are authors who have been recommended by other Cozy Mystery readers as belonging on the Cozy Mystery site.

Beverly Allen (aka Barbara Early) writes the Bridal Bouquet Shop Mystery Series. This series takes place in Virginia and features one of the co-owners of the Rose in Bloom flower shop. Audrey Bloom sleuths while arranging beautiful wedding flower pieces of art. (You would think the author was a florist rather than the Electrical Engineer she was.) As Early she has written a Christmas novella.

Amanda Cooper (aka Victoria Hamilton & Donna Lea Simpson): OK, OK, I know some of you are already followers of Victoria Hamilton, so you probably know she already has a page on the Cozy Mystery site. I just wanted to officially introduce you all to Amanda Cooper. As Cooper she writes the Teapot Collector Mystery Series. Sophie Taylor is an employee in her family’s Victorian Tearoom in New York. Hamilton’s fans know she writes the Vintage Kitchen Mystery Series as well as the Merry Muffin Mystery Series. (She also writes an historical/romance mystery series as Donna Lea Simpson called the Lady Anne Addison series..)

Lois Lavrisa writes the Chubby Chicks Club Mystery Series. This series features Cat and Annie Mae, two best friends who sleuth together in Savannah, Georgia. Lavrisa has a Young Adult spin-off called the Thomson Twins Mystery Series. She also writes the Liquid Lies thriller/suspence series for Young Adults.

Dixie Lyle Pens the Whiskey, Tango, and Foxtrot Mystery Series. This is a paranormal mystery series. Foxtrot (“short” for Deirdre) is the administrative assistant for a woman who is rich beyond being rich. As her assistant, Foxtrot cares for both the mansion and grounds. Foxtrot is aided by her childhood cat, Tango, who happens to be a telepathic cat. Also along for the sleuthing is Tiny, a shape-shifting ghost dog.

Laura Morrigan writes the Call of the Wilde Mystery Series.  Grace Wilde has telepathic abilities with animals. This comes in handy if a crime is committed in the presence of a pet, or a wild animal. Grace is able to get clues that only a witnessing animal can give. The series is set in Florida.
