Cozy Mystery News – September 2016

September 6, 2016

newspaper1111111111111111Well, I’m glad to tell you ALL about some Cozy Mystery behind-the-scenes news! Yes, it’s yet another time when I get my “I-want-to-gossip” thing going! All of it’s good, so I think it’s OK to tell.

There’s great news for those of us who want to know what’s happening at Mel(inda)’s Bow Wow Boutique. Sparkle Abbey has been given the go-ahead for books nine and ten in her Pampered Pets Mystery Series.

Maddie Day (aka Edith Maxwell & Tace Baker) has just been given the go-ahead for three more Country Store mysteries! Robbie will have even more trouble to look into while trying to keep her Pans ‘n Pancakes country store/diner running smoothly.

Vicki Delany‘s (aka Eva Gates) Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery Series, which is releasing its first Cozy in March, has been given the green light for at least two more books in this series. How neat is that?

Next, let me tell you about Kaitlyn Dunnett (aka Kathy Lynn Emerson). She has gotten the green light for her 11th Liss MacCrimmon mystery.  And, not only will she be writing that very popular mystery series, but she will also be writing a new Cozy series. Dunnett’s new series will feature an ex-English teacher who lives in the New York Catskill Mountains >>> who will start a new career as a book editor. (As Kathy Lynn Emerson she writes the Elizabethan Mystery Series, the Lady Susanna Appleton Mystery Series, and the Diana Spaulding Mystery Series.)

Most of you know that Dawn Eastman writes the popular Family Fortune Mystery Series. Here’s some great news! Dawn Eastman will also be writing a new Cozy Mystery series that features a doctor in a small town.

And news for those of us who read Sally Goldenbaum‘s Seaside Knitters Mystery Series,  she has gotten a contract for three more books! We’ll be seeing the first one (Murder Wears Mittens) of these three sometime in 2017 – making it the 12th book in this USA Today bestselling series.

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been wondering how Jacobia (“Jake”) from Sarah Graves‘s Home Repair is Homicide series is doing, since we haven’t seen her since 2013. Well, we’ll soon be able to read all about Jake and the new Chocolate Moose chocolate shop that some friends opened in Death by Chocolate Cherry Cheesecake. And the even better news is that this will be the first of at least three new books in this series!

And, Victoria Houston‘s Loon Fishing Mystery Series will welcome three more books to its queue: Dead Spider, Dead Firefly, and Dead Big Dawg. Looks like Lewellyn will be kept busy solving crimes!

It looks like Anna Lee Huber will be writing a new historical mystery series, along with her Lady Darby Mystery Series. This series will star a widow who teams up with a Secret Service agent to solve mysteries. The first book (An Endless Echo) will unite these two sleuths in order to solve some terrible accusations about her late husband being a WW I traitor. Yikes!

Now for some news for fans of Tonya Kappes‘s Kenni Lowry Mystery Series. As you know, Kappes has released only one book in this series so far, but there will be at least six more Kenni Lowry mysteries to look forward to!

I think I might have already told you about Kate Kingsbury (aka Rebecca Kent & Allison Kingsley) starting her Merry Ghost Inn Mystery Series this January. I think this news is so terrific that I want to be sure to let you know about it, in case I didn’t already tell you!

Have you been wondering when Jess Lourey was going to finally tell us what happens during March? Well, March Madness is the title of  the 11th in Jess Lourey’s Murder by Month Mystery Series. This time a life-sized doll may not be quite what it seems to be!

Nancy J. Parra (aka Nancy Coco) will be starting a new Cozy Mystery series which has a very unique sleuth. The sleuth will be a personal chef for Prince William and Duchess Kate. I’m not sure of the title of the series yet, but I do know that she will be writing the series as Nell Hampton, and the first book in the series is called (so far!) Kale to the Queen.

As they say: That’s a wrap!

Great News for Mystery Movie Buffs!

August 24, 2016

MoviesOK, in the “old days” I would have said get out your pens and pencils, however, I’ll just tell you about this news, and you can annotate it the way you do these days >>> with your I-Pads, I-Phones, Desk Tops, or… with your pens & pencils!

Let me start by telling you all there is good news for us, the Cozy Mystery lovers, from both the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel AND the BBC!

I’ll start with the news from the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel. They have a lot in store for us in the realm of mystery movies! As a lot of you know, the channel is already showing movies that feature: Charlaine Harris‘s Aurora Teagarden Mysteries, Kate Collins‘s Flower Shop Mysteries, Joanne Fluke‘s (Hannah Swensen) Murder, She Baked Mysteries, Peter King‘s Gourmet Detective Mysteries, and Suzi Weinert‘s Garage Sale Mysteries.

Here’s the good news! Hallmark Movies & Mysteries will also be starting (New York Times bestselling) Kate Carlisle‘s Fixer-Upper Mysteries! Yes, that’s right! Singer/actress Jewel will be both starring and executive producing the Fixer-Upper mysteries. Jewel will be playing Shannon Hammer, the owner of a construction company that specializes in restoring Victorian houses.

And it just keeps getting better! For those of you who have missed Kellie Martin in the Mystery Woman movies, she’ll be back! Yep! Nancy Grace‘s Hailey Dean Mysteries will be starring Kellie Martin. For those of you who already read Nancy Grace’s mysteries, you already know that Hailey is an ex-prosecutor who specialized in violent crimes who then works as a therapist, and then a TV commentator.

The bad news is that Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is somewhat secretive about giving out their full TV schedules. So, this month I will only be telling you about the following PREMIERS that will air on that channel. Kellie Martin will be hosting what the channel is calling October Sunday Night Mystery Movies in which three new mystery movies will be introduced/air. (In this case, make sure to get these set-up on your DVRs as soon as possible!)

Now on to the great news from BBC. Last December, author Donna McLean told us about the Lifetime channel’s airing of the BBC’s And Then There Were None. (Thank you so much, Donna! I really enjoyed it!) Great news! The BBC will be making seven more of these wonderful Agatha Christie adaptations.

Ordeal by Innocence will be the first movie Agatha Christie Productions will be making for the small screen. Death Comes as the End and The ABC Murders are among the other Agatha Christie movies they will be making. If these new Agatha Christie movies are as good as December’s fare, we’re in for some exceptional TV mystery movies!

Cozy Mystery News – June 2016

June 11, 2016

I hate to start this Cozy Mystery tidbit entry with bad news >>> but it is! Some of you have told us about CBS’ new Nancy Drew television show. Apparently CBS had the pilot made, but decided against buying it. There are conflicting stories about why the pilot wasn’t bought by CBS, one of which is that it was just too feminine. (Imagine that! A show based on a female sleuth was just too feminine!) In all fairness,  the president of the network later said they also passed on other shows, and that the feminine factor wasn’t the reason they chose to pass on this project.

On to the good news points of interest…

Susan Furlong (aka Lucy Arlington) will be writing a new suspense series with a sleuth who was once a police in the military and is now an “Irish Traveller”. As a lot of you know, Susan writes both the Georgia Peach and the Pippi O’Brienthe mysteries as well as the Novel Idea mysteries which she writes as Lucy Arlington.

It looks like Eliza Doolittle & Henry Higgins will be busy in yet another of their sleuthing situations! D.E. Ireland (aka Sharon Farrow & Meg Macy) will be featured in their third: Get Me to the Grave on Time. But wait, that’s not the only good news! There will then be two more mysteries that follow this one! (Sharon Farrow also writes the Berry Basket Mystery Series.)

Here’s some terrific news for Cozy Mystery readers who love cats, pets, or simply love Cozies! T.C. LoTempio (aka Toni LoTempio) will be starting a new series called the Cat Rescue Mystery Series. Purr M for Murder (how about that for a clever title?) will be the first book in this series which is set in a shelter for animals. LoTempio currently writes the Nick & Nora Mystery Series.

Jenn McKinlay (aka Josie Belle & Lucy Lawrence) will be releasing the ninth Cozy in her Cupcake Bakery Mystery Series, titled Caramel Crush. Now that’s great news! (McKinlay also writes the Library Lover’s series as well as the Hat Shop Mystery Series. As Josie Belle she writes the GoodBuy Girls mysteries, and as Lucy Lawrence she writes the Decoupage Mystery Series.)

Some of us have followed the exploits of Lucy Stone for years! Leslie Meier writes the very popular Lucy Stone (holiday) Mystery Series, and she will be releasing the 24th in the series, Turkey Trot Murder. However, the good news doesn’t stop here! She has just been green-lighted for at least three more mysteries in this series. Yahoo!

Here’s some more good news: Dorothy St. James (who writes the White House Gardener Mystery Series) has just been given the go-ahead for a new Cozy Mystery series: the Chocolate Shop series. The sleuth will own a gourmet shop in an “artsy” community in South Carolina.

And for those of you who read Maggie Toussaint‘s Dreamwalker Mystery Series >>> her sleuth, Baxley Powell will be featured in two more mysteries as she communicates telepathically with the pets she takes care of in Georgia. Dadgummit and Counfound It will be the next two in this series. Toussaint also writes the Cleopatra Jones and the Moss Bog mystery series.

And, that’s a wrap!

Cozy Mystery News – May 2016

May 9, 2016

Here’s some good news for Cozy Mystery readers… especially for those of us who follow these very popular authors!

First up is the news about Miranda James (aka Jimmie Ruth Evans, Honor Hartman, & Dean James). Miranda James’ Cat in the Stacks Mystery Series had just been given the green light for a new book in the series. The 7th (No Cats Allowed) was released in February of this year, so it’s good to know there will be another one coming out!

Next up is the New York Time’s bestselling Jenn McKinlay (aka Josie Belle & Lucy Lawrence). Jenn McKinlay just received a lot of good news >>> as did we! Her Library Lover’s Mystery Series is going to be releasing Better Late Than Never, which will be the 7th book in the series. OK, so this isn’t brand new news, since we’ve known about it for a little while. However, Caramel Crush will be published, making it the 9th book in her Cupcake Bakery Mystery Series. (Again, I’ll let you know when!)

Dorothy St. James is the author of the White House Gardener Mystery Series, and will soon be writing the Chocolate Shop Mystery Series. This series will revolve around the owner of “The Chocolate Box” shop. Yum! This is the type of shop most of us would enjoy shopping in >>> it’s a gourmet chocolate shop! (I’m not sure whether we should have any chocolate in the house when we read these Cozies, or not!)

And to wrap this Cozy Mystery news tidbits up, Maggie Toussaint‘s Dreamwalker Mystery Series is alive and well! Doggone It is slated to be released in October of this year, and it looks like telepathic pet sitter Baxley Powell will be solving at least two more Dreamwalker mysteries after this!

Well, that’s it for the Cozy Mystery news. The good news is that it’s all good news!
