Cozy Mystery News – March 2017

March 5, 2017

Yow! Finally – I have some Cozy Mystery news! And, it’s exactly the type of news I like to tell you all about – especially since I’ve gotten several emails asking me about Ellery Adams (aka Jennifer Stanley, J. B. Stanley & Lucy Arlington).

Some of you may remember a blog entry I posted on Dec. 16, 2016 about Ellery Adams. (What’s the Cozy News?) Ellery Adams’s Book Retreat Mystery Series has a three book contract with Kensington Publishers. (Let’s hope it goes so well that there will be even more than three in this series’ future!) Kensington will also start publishing Ellery’s The Secret Book and Scone Society in hardcover format, and they have committed to at least three books in this series. Great news!

Here’s some more great news! Ellie Alexander writes the popular Bakeshop Mystery Series, and the Pacific Northwest Mystery Series as Kate Dyer-Seeley. She has signed on to write three more Cozies in her Bakeshop Mystery Series. Didn’t I say this is great news?

All of us who are fans of Jane K. Cleland‘s Josie Prescott Antiques Mystery Series, there’s another Cozy being worked on. Antique Blues should be out for us to enjoy next winter. Can’t wait!

It just keeps getting better! Sheila Connolly (aka Sara Atwell) will be starting a new Cozy Mystery series! This Cozy series takes place in a town that is now a Victorian village vacation destination. Sounds like a lot of fun!

And, finally (since I’m doing this alphabetically), Krista Davis has signed a contract for three more Domestic Diva Cozies! Yahoo!

If you’re like me, you’re always sad to hear when a favorite Cozy author has had to “call it a wrap” – so these five authors writing more Cozies is pretty great news!

Cozy Mystery News – January 2017

January 13, 2017

This Cozy Mystery news letter is going to be rather short, but that’s not to say it’s not full of great Cozy Mystery news!

For those of you who are Cora Felton fans (that’s right, the Puzzle Lady!) you’ll be very pleased to know that Cora will continue to creatively solve her mystery puzzles. Parnell Hall will be bringing us another new Puzzle Lady mystery after this month’s new Puzzle Lady mystery (A Puzzle to Be Named Later).

Well, if you’re not all caught-up with Kathleen Paulson, Owen, and Hercules, you better hurry up and read your New York Time’s bestselling Magical Cats Mystery Series books! Sofie Kelly (aka Sofie Ryan & Darlene Ryan) just signed on for two more Cozies in this series. Good news for all of us! (I better start reading faster!)

This is great news for all of us who look at Sherlock Holmes as the best mystery-solver of all times! Laurie R. King and Leslie S. Klinger will be the editors of a fourth anthology that contains stories that have the Sherlock Holmes feel to them. And, for those of you who are Rhys Bowen fans, she will be writing a story for this anthology. (Here are the three already-published anthologies King and Klinger have released: In the Company of Sherlock Holmes, Echoes of Sherlock Holmes: Stories Inspired by the Holmes Canon, and A Study in Sherlock: Stories Inspired by the Holmes Canon.)

I know a lot of you are fans of Anne Perry‘s series – even though I know they are historical mysteries, not Cozies. Here’s some great news for you! She has just been given the green light to write the 33rd Charlotte and Thomas Pitt mystery, her 24th William Monk mystery, and her 16th Christmas mystery. That’s right! And, her Charlotte and Thomas Pitt series is going to move into the early 20th century, since it will feature Daniel, their grown son. Didn’t I say it was great news for her fans?

I think I mentioned that Teresa Trent (the author of the Pecan Bayou Mystery Series) will be starting a new series called the Henry Park Mystery Series, which will feature Gabby Wolfe (who has Sixth Sense) in Henry Park, Colorado. Well, here’s some good news for those of us who read Teresa Trent’s Cozies. She has just signed on to write the Piney Woods Mystery Series – which I am guessing will take place in Texas – since we have an area called “Piney Woods”.

I’ll be back with more Cozy Mystery news when I have more to report. Until next time…

More Cozy Mystery News…

December 17, 2016

Oh, and don’t forget what I told you back in August of this year: Kate Carlisle’s Fixer-Upper Mystery Series is the next Cozy Mystery series to grace the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel. I can’t wait!

Great News for Mystery Movie Buffs!

(In case you don’t want to read my entire entry, here’s the relevant part:

Here’s the good news! Hallmark Movies & Mysteries will also be starting (New York Times bestselling) Kate Carlisle‘s Fixer-Upper Mysteries! Yes, that’s right! Singer/actress Jewel will be both starring and executive producing the Fixer-Upper mysteries. Jewel will be playing Shannon Hammer, the owner of a construction company that specializes in restoring Victorian houses.

Great news for all of us who enjoy the Hallmark mystery movies!

What’s the Cozy News?

December 16, 2016

It seems like sometimes we hear more about Cozy Mystery Series that have been cancelled than about series that are thriving. So here is a “What’s the Cozy News?” entry that will hopefully bring some good news to most of us!

Ellery Adams (aka J.B. Stanley, Jennifer Stanley, and Lucy Arlington) has announced that her Charmed Pie Shoppe will be closing its doors after the latest book in the series, Breach of Crust. However there’s good news about her Book Retreat Mystery Series – it will be moving from Penguin-Random to Kensington Publishers. Also, Ellery Adams will be starting a new series  (The Secret Book and Scone Society) with Kensington in late 2017.

I know a lot of Cozy Mystery readers were upset when Melissa Bourbon‘s Magical Dressmaking Series ended. Well, here’s some great news: Winnie Archer (aka Melissa Bourbon and Misa Ramirez) will be starting a new Cozy Series called the Bread Shop Mystery Series. Kneaded to Death is the first book in the series, and we will be introduced to Ivy Culpepper (our sleuth) who is an aspiring photographer who ends up working in the Yeast of Eden bread shop. The series will be set in a seaside town (Santa Sofia) in California.

Lynn Cahoon is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, which explains why Kensington is planning on releasing more Cozies in her very popular Tourist Trap Mystery Series. Brava!

Good news for Maia Chance fans! The Crooked Lane publishing company will be releasing Maia Chance’s Agnes and Effie Mystery Series, of which Bad Housekeeping is the first. This series will star a “dork” and her great aunt (who happens to have been a fashion model) in a New York town.

The Crooked Land publishers are bringing us even more Cozies! Sheila Connolly (aka Sarah Atwell) has a “snowbound” County Cork Mystery Series that will be coming out soon (Cruel Winter) and … wait for it… there’s at least one more to look forward to after that one!

Here’s more good news! We can expect at least a few more Mystery with Recipes Cozies from Isis Crawford (aka Barbara Block). Yes, that’s right, Kensington has given her series the green light!

A new Cozy series by Maddie Day (aka Edith Maxwell and Tace Baker) is on the horizon. Day’s Cozy Capers Book Group Mystery Series will feature the owner of a bike shop who holds a weekly mystery book group – which exclusively reads Cozies. (My type of reading group!) Murder on Cape Cod is the first book in the series.

Amanda Flower (aka Isabella Alan) has two new Cozy Mystery Series for us to look forward to. Flower’s Forgotten Cozy Mystery Series will feature  a florist sleuth who inherits a Scottish Highlands’ cottage. Death at Duncreigan is the first in the series. Flowers is also beginning her Amish Candy Shop Mystery Series which will feature a chocolatier who works at her grandparents’ Swissmen Sweets Amish Candy Shop in Harvest, Ohio. And, yum! Recipes are included in this series. Assaulted Caramel is the first Cozy in the series.

Nancy J. Parra (aka Nancy Coco and Nell Hampton) will be starting her new Wine Country Mystery Series. A Case of Syrah, Syrah is the first in the series. (We can thank the Crooked Lane publishers for this series, too!)

Rose Pressey has been given the go-ahead on book 6 and 7 in her Haunted Vintage Mystery Series. If you aren’t already familiar with this series, it is set in Georgia and features a sleuth with a passion for vintage clothing!

Now this is great news! It looks like Denise Swanson will be kept busy writing Cozies! Swanson (a New York Times bestselling author) will begin a new series – the Chef-to-Go Mystery Series – with at least three books in it. Also, she will be writing the Welcome Back to Scumble River Mystery Series, beginning with book #1, Dead in the Water.

If you’re a Hannah Ives fan, then you’ll be very happy to know that Marcia Talley‘s 16th book in that series (Mile High Murder) will be released.

And last (but by no means least!) there’s terrific Charles Todd news! We can expect more Bess Crawford and Ian Rutledge mysteries! (I told you it was terrific!)

And that’s a wrap!
