Cozy Mystery News – September 2017

September 12, 2017

I don’t have much news this month. However, what little news I do have will undoubtedly make a lot of Cozy Mystery readers very happy. So, let’s get started!

This first tidbit will be a very welcome one for many of us. Donna Andrews, the author of the wildly popular Meg Langslow Mystery Series, has just signed on to write three more mysteries! They ought to keep Meg (and Donna!) very busy solving crimes.

Now here’s some news about an author who will be donning “a new persona.” Many of you recognize that Ali Brandon writes the very popular Black Cat Bookshop Mystery Series and also the Leonardo da Vinci Historical Mystery Series as Diane A. S. Stuckart. Well, starting very soon she will take on the third moniker: Anna Gerard. As Anna she will be writing a mystery series that is set in Georgia – more precisely in a Bed & Breakfast scenario. Death in a Penguin Suit will be the first in this series. I’ll let you know when we can expect to see it.

As if best selling Victoria Laurie isn’t busy enough! Victoria writes both the very popular Psychic Eye Mystery Series and the Ghost Hunter Series – as well as a children’s mystery series called the Oracles of the Delphi Mystery Series. Well here’s some great news. She has just signed on to start a new series: the Life Coach Mystery Series. Now that sounds interesting!

Most of you know Jess Lourey as the author who writes the Murder-by-Month Mystery Series. Last year she started a non-Cozy series with Salem’s Ciphers. The series features sleuth Salem Wiley, an agoraphobic cryptanalyst. The good news is that Salem will be back in Mercy’s Chase. (Don’t worry, I’ll keep you posted about when it will be released.)

And here’s my final news item. Loretta Ross, author of the Auction Block Mystery Series, will be bringing us a fourth mystery starring the Wren Morgan and Death Bogart crime-solving team!

That wraps up the Cozy Mystery news for this month. I hope (at least) one of these items has given you some anticipated reading pleasure!

Carolyn Haines: Fear Familiar Mystery Series

August 22, 2017

I absolutely love it when authors who are on my Cozy Mystery site write to me and tell me about new series they are planning to begin, or in this particular case, have already begun. (Love it!)

Well, here is some news that I received from Carolyn Haines, which I am going to pass on to you all. (Most of you are already familiar with Carolyn’s very popular Sarah Booth Delaney Mystery Series.)  Carolyn Haines (also) wrote the Fear Familiar Mystery Series years ago which featured a detective who happened to be a black cat named Familiar, who had escaped from a research facility. She wrote this series as Caroline Burnes, and you can find the entire list by clicking here to go to the Carolyn Haines page on my site. Familiar now has a son named Trouble who is featured in the new Familiar Legacy Mystery Series.

The series is going to be written by different authors. The first book, Familiar Trouble, was released in July of this year and was written by Carolyn Haines. Trouble in Dixie (written by Rebecca Barrett) was released in August, and will be followed by Trouble in Tallahassee in September which is written by Claire Matturro. Susan Tanner will write the fourth in this series, Trouble at Summer Valley Ranch, which will be released in October. Carolyn writes that they are already planning the books which will be released during 2018 – which is great news, since it means there will be more!

Obviously, I will be adding this series to the Kittens, Cats, and Cozies page of my site!

Cozy Mystery News – August 2017 – Part 2

August 10, 2017

A few days ago I posted the first part of August 2017’s Cozy Mystery News. Well, it it took me a day more than I expected, but I have even more Cozy Mystery authors/books to tell you about today, so I’ll go ahead and get started…

OK, all you Betty Hechtman fans, this should make your day! Betty Hechtman has just signed on to write books 12 & 13 in her Crochet Mystery Series. That’s right! Molly Pink and the Tarzana Hookers will be cutting into crime again, and then again – again! So we can look forward to these Cozies, along with more crochet patterns and recipes! Betty Hechtman also writes the Yarn Retreat Mystery Series.

Nancy Herriman will soon be introducing a new sleuth to us.  As a lot of you know, Nancy Herriman is the author of the Mystery of Old San Francisco Mystery Series, which features nurse Celia Davies during the 1860s. Nancy’s new Bess Ellyott Mystery Series will begin with Searcher of the Dead and will feature an herbalist in England during the Elizabethan Era (late 1500s).

Anna Lee Huber writes both the Verity Kent Mystery Series and the Lady Darby Mystery Series. This particular news info is about Huber’s historical Lady Darby series. Lady Darby will be back and she will be taking on the London Burkers – a gang that goes around killing people for profit… They sell the corpses to 1830’s medical schools.

Have you ever heard of an attorney who also has a degree in the culinary arts? Well, if you’re a fan of Leslie Karst, you have! She writes the Sally Solari Mystery Series which is set in  California and features an ex-lawyer managing an Italian eatery. Well, you’ll be happy to know that Sally Solari will be back to sleuth, cook, and provide us with tasty recipes!

For those of us who are fans of Carlene O’Connor‘s Irish Village Mystery Series, there is good news on the horizon. The owner of Naomi’s Bistro in Kilbane, County Cork, Ireland, Siobhán O’Sullivan, will be back several more times. That’s pretty doggone good news! (Carlene O’Connor also writes romance novels as Mary Carter.)

Deanna Raybourn‘s Veronica Speedwell Mystery Series will be adding two more books to its list. That’s right, books numbers 4 & 5 just got the green light.  Veronica Speedwell is an adventuress in Victorian England who solves mysteries while travelling the world. Deanna Raybourn also writes the Lady Julia Grey Mystery Series and the Jasmine Mystery Series.

I hope you have found a few of your favorite Cozy Mystery authors on this two-part list. I know I’m always excited when I hear that one of my favorite authors has more Cozies on the way!

Here’s the first part of this newsy entry:
