Wow Danna, What a wonderful list of new releases for the month of August. My DH will be happy to see a new “Dan Rhodes” mystery. Almost everytime I go to the library he will ask me to make sure I check to see if there are any new Dan Rhodes mysteries.
I just finished reading “Family Way’ by Rhys Bowen. This was a very good book. I will look forward to the new Royal Spyness book that is to come out next month. I do enjoy all 3 series by this author.
Thanks for the list.

There you go, Linda C. This August 2013 list has a little something for everyone!
Lynn T. says
I am glad to see that Paige Shelton has a new book coming out in the Country Cooking School series. This series is perhaps my favorite of all the newer series that have come out in the past several years. I enjoyed If Fried Chickens Could Fly and If Mashed Potatoes Could Dance very much.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Lynn T, I always love it when I spy one of my favorite authors while I am getting my monthly new release list together. (Thanks for the endorsement of Paige Shelton’s mystery books!)
Jackie C says
Thank you so very much! This is great information!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
You’re welcome, Jackie C.
Amanda says
Almost fell over when I saw that Diane Mott Davidson FINALLY has another Goldy mystery coming out. It’s been so long, I thought she wasn’t writing anymore!
Love your site! Check it every month!!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
I know, Amanda. I wonder if it doesn’t seem so long since we had a Goldy Bear mystery because in the same span of time, some authors have put out up to five or six books…
Joy says
Hi Danna, saw last night that Jessica Beck has a new Cats Paw story which is both kindle and paperback Ghost Cats 2: Bid for Midnight
Love her books!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Thanks, Joy, for telling us about Jessica Beck’s new Ghost Cats 2: Bid for Midnight book. I just added it to her page on the site.
M. Burns says
Great list of books for August. I am very glad to see Nancy Martin has another book. Just finished The Cat Sitter’s Cradle by Blaize and John Clement. It was one of the best in the series. With the passing of Blaize Clement, I hope John Clement has plans to continue to write the Dixie Hemingway series. Thanks for the mystery lists.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
M. Burns, you’re in luck. I read that John Clement will be continuing his mother’s Dixie Hemingway mysteries. He collaborated with her on both the characters and the plots, so this makes perfect sense!
M. Burns says
Thank you! I am very glad to know John Clement will be continuing to write the series!
AnnieM says
This list is awesome! I am a newbie to the sight and love this…..only bad thing…it makes me want to go back and read all the previous books in the series that I hadn’t heard of yet. Way too many books and way too little time!!! sigh…. Susan Wittig Albert is a good author also.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
AnnieM, I would definitely recommend that you start with the first books in these mystery series. Your library can probably help you a lot with tracking down copies of older mysteries.
ginger g. says
There are 18 authors that I read on the list. I have discovered when i go to the bookstore and am looking for the authors on my list I discover new authors that are not on any of my lists. but I get the book and try it. Have discovered several new authors this way.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Ginger, I know I have said this before: It sounds like you follow a lot of Cozy Mystery authors!
Marja says
So sad to hear about Blaize Clement, but I’m glad her son is taking over the series. As a cat-sitter myself, I love Dixie Hemingway!
Good to see another Midnight Louie mystery on my horizon. Now I have two to read. The backstories are getting pretty involved so I have to really be in the mood, unlike those early thrilling days of Midnight Louie! Douglas’s mystery plots are always excellent and I love her sense of humor, and of course sassy Louie.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Isn’t it great, Marja, that John Clement will be taking over the Dixie Hemingway mysteries?
Donna says
The paperback version of A Sparrow Falls Holiday is already available on Amazon! I’m surprised (but delighted). 🙂
A Sparrow Falls Holiday
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Donna, thanks for telling us about A Sparrow Falls Holiday. I see that it is a book with four holiday stories in it: Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Fourth of July, and Halloween.
MicheleB says
I am so thrilled that Louise Penny’s new book will be out soon. When I realized how her most recent one ended, I put it aside for awhile because I have to read the two of them back to back — the suspense is just too much for me. I just love her writing.
Thanks so much for this great web-site!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
MicheleB, thanks for Louise Penny recommendation!
Nouna says
Just picked up a “first in a new series” by Allyson K Abbott. The title is Murder on the Rocks. I learned that Allyson K Abbott is Annelise Ryan/Beth Amos. I haven’t seen this book or name on your website, so I thought I would share what I have learned.
You website is WONDERFUL. I reference it all the time to find new titles and authors to read. Thank you for doing this. As a Cozy-Mystery reader, I don’t know what I would do without it!!!!!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Welcome to the site, Nouna, and thank you for the information about Annelise Ryan also being Allyson K. Abbott. I have a page for Ryan which includes all of her Beth Amos books, but I didn’t know about Allyson K. Abbot being her new moniker.
(Actually, I just added Allyson K. Abbott‘s page on the Cozy Mystery site. Thanks, again!)

Can’t get to sleep so searching for a good little cozy to get the brain to relax. There’s a chance my husband and I will be following our family and grandkids to DFW area of Texas next summer. What are some good series of books that would give me some insight into Tx, which seems like a foreign country to this original Western Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, girl to one transplanted in Chillicothe, Ohio, and next great adventure in Texas. Any advice welcomed–maybe looking at houses in Wylie Texas in the spring.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Rho, how wonderful that you and your husband are moving to be close to your family and grandkids. (When I ask my mother if she would PLEASE move down here, she always responds that my husband and I should leave our children in Texas and move up to Colorado to be near her.) I don’t know how the Dallas area is regarding seasons, but if it’s anything like here in San Antonio, you’re probably going to be missing them!
(Have you looked at the Texas theme mystery list?)
