Wow – so many books, so little time! Thanks for posting this list every month.

Hi Danna,
I am very happy to report that, YES, Miranda James is a pseudonym for author Dean James. How do I know? He told me. If you and your followers would like to learn more about MURDER PAST DUE, the first book in Dean’s new Cat in the Stacks mystery series, click here to visit his post at my group blog: Mystery Lovers’ Kitchen, where six mystery writers cook up crime…and recipes.
BTW – Thank you so much for listing my new Coffeehouse Mystery release Roast Mortem!
Cheers,
~ Cleo Coyle

and The Haunted Bookshop Mysteries (as Alice Kimberly)

Thank you, Cleo/Alice!
Thank you for supplying me with the answer AND for writing your mysteries. I am currently reading one of your Coffeehouse Mysteries… and thoroughly enjoying it!
(I have just amended my Miranda James, Dean James, Honor Hartman, and Jimmie Ruth Evans pages… lots of mysteries by “lots of authors!”)
Thanks, again!
Jeff says
Wish Dean James would do more in the Simon Kirby-Jones series. I really enjoyed those books!
Sue says
I agree totally, Jeff. I’m constantly looking for the next one. And the last was 5 years ago!!!
Lorelei says
I just want to thank you for your website. It has been such a tremendous help when I discover a new author/series and want to read the books in order.
Thank you so much for all your hard work and effort.
Lorelei
Barbara J says
Do you know the name of the author that writes mystery books with a spice in the name of the title? The heroine runs an herbal store and her husband is (I think) a retired Canadian Mounty?
Thanks,
Barbara
Rebecca says
I just found your website and love all the info thanks for all your research.
Sue says
Barbara,
Are you thinking of the China Bayles mysteries by Susan Wittig Albert?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Thank you, Lorelei and Rebecca, and welcome to the site!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
I also thought about Susan Wittig Albert… minus the Canadian mountie and the spices…

Thanks for keeping us posted every month. Now, before I buy books I come here first to see what to look for. You are very accurate and thorough, and I appreciate it / you much!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Thanks for the very kind words about the site, Stacy!

I enjoy your site very much. I discovered it while browsing the mystery section on Amazon. It was highly recommended by others from that site. I find it very helpful when looking for info for my favorite authors.
Silly question: Would you happen to know if the Mapping of Love and Death is the last of the Masie Dobbs series?
Mary
Danna - cozy mystery list says
I’m sorry, Mary, but I do not know. I just checked Jacqueline Winspear’s website and it doesn’t appear like she is saying the series is ending… I’m guessing that her series is going strong… with a lot more mysteries to come.
Does anyone know for sure?

Has Jill Churchill retired from writing?..I think I have finally read all the books on the list…I sure can’t find anything..I love her books..good reads
Anne says
I miss her, too. She was the first Cozy author I read. So she holds a special place in my heart. I miss Valerie Wolzien, too.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
I am not sure what is going on with Jill Churchill’s mysteries. I found that the seventh Grace and Favor book (Smoke Gets in Your Eyes) was (or is?!?) supposed to be published, but I can’t find out when. This is a little reminiscent of when the “book news” said that Lilian Jackson Braun had another book that was due to be published, but we never saw it… Quite incidentally, that book had SMOKE in its title also: The Cat Who Smelled Smoke.
Each time I try to access her website I get a “Threat Detected” warning, so I do NOT go on.
Barbara says
Did the author who wrote the mysteries The Cat Who…….die?
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Barbara,
We don’t know what Lilian Jackson Braun is up to… Here is an entry asking about her…

I was looking to update my book list – the one where I have to mark what I do and don’t have, and what I’ve read so I don’t buy the same thing twice – and I found this most wonderful website. Your website is better than searching on Amazon or B&N! Thank you so much for doing this! Have you read the Joan Rivers mystery – Murder at the Academy Awards? It is very funny, and a good read.
Jill says
What a wonderful site! I’ve already discovered 6 new authors/series to love. Please keep it up.
Mary says
Please forgive this question, but are there any female mystery writers who, for want of a better term, write in a “masculine” style? I don’t mean this at all disrespectfully, but some mystery novels include commentary on what someone is wearing, hair, make-up, romance angles, etc. –and I really love the more direct, action-oriented mysteries. Which female authors excel at this? I’m ready to stop buying books just by men, and I just need a little guidance. Again, no disrespect intended. It’s just a writing style preference. Thank you for any suggestions.

This is to Mary who posted the following in July. Unfortunately I was living in a rehab hospital doing therapy for a total knee replacement(NO FUN, JUST PAIN!)

Well, Mary, if you haven’t already found out your answer, it is YES!! I just got done reading Mapping of Love and Death in the Masie Dobb’s series, it is the latest and is as great as all the rest of her’s. Highly recommend it!!!! Some sad surprises are in store though. But in the end, Masie comes out…….Great!!!! Won’t do any spoilers for you but it is a great wonderful shock!!! Let me know after you read it what you thought!! OK??? Sandra

Just so you know: Carl Hiaasen published his twelfth novel “Star Island” during this time. I had the great pleasure of meeting him during his tour for the book. He is every bit as funny in person as he is in print. In comparison to books that I’ve read by Betty Hechtman, Carolyn G. Hart, Diane Mott Davidson, and Charlaine Harris, I wouldn’t say he’s the coziest of mystery and thriller novelists, but I have spent many nights curled up in bed not wanting to put down his books for they are like literary candy; they are sugary-sweet with hilarity and fun. I was glad to see him included on this site and so thrilled to have found this site for while I have read some cozies that are very boring or frustratingly stupid, I’m glad to see there is a site that casts a very wide net over the mystery and thriller genres that raise awareness for better works.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Thank you, Rory, for telling me about Carl Hiaasen’s latest mystery (Star Island)… which, evidently, I missed!
