Julia says
Ooo, a new Mary Higgins Clark, a new Nancy Atherton AND a new Carolyn Hart all in the same month! After I hit the bookstore I may not come up for air for a week!
Julia says
Ah, and an Anne Perry too – make that two weeks!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Julia, sounds like you have a lot of reading fun in store for yourself!
alfred says
Danna Jessica Fletcher is listed twice under his name and then hers just wanted to let you know.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Thank you, Alfred. Ever since I was in a bookstore and actually saw the Murder, She Wrote books alphabetically listed under “Fletcher” I have done this. I think a lot of people like to think of the books as written by “Jessica” rather than Donald Bain.
linda says
Oh good, a Miss Julia. I love her series with all of her quirky characters. Spring reading looks like it is going to be something to look forward to.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Linda, I’m going to have to find a Cozy Mystery that I’m interested in!
I bought some games to play on my Kindle, and I think it’s a bad sign Re: my enjoyment of a Cozy Mystery – when I always opt to play something like Sudoku instead of read my Cozy. (My daughter and husband have told me they think it’s time for me to drop my current book and start reading another one…)
linda says
Danna, A few weeks ago I started reading two books but then when I picked up a few favorites at the library I set these two aside, thinking I would read these after I am done with the favorites. After reading my favorites I started once again to finish the 2 books but then I asked myself why? Why did I even care to finish reading these books. If they weren’t good enough to finish before I went onto other books why waste my time! I just hope I can remember the authors’ names so that I don’t pick up their books again! I know, I know, I could keep a list but I would more than likely forget to take my list with me.!!!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Linda, I wholeheartedly agree about not wasting time on books that you aren’t interested enough to finish before starting a favorite author’s mystery. I have just gone through three new-to-me authors for the simple reason that I picked playing Sudoku over reading the mysteries. (I have added all three authors to my “*****YUCK” list of authors.)
Jerry says
Just finished I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella. Never read her before. Very Good
JMW
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Thanks, Jerry, for telling us about Sophie Kinsella.
Melissa B says
I like the Miss Julia books also!
Thanks for the great list and recommendations!
Regina says
Danna, I do appreciate your new book and alphabetical authors’ lists. Yesterday I received an e-mail from a publisher touting 2 new books, one by Charlaine Harris and the other by Laura Childs. Harris’s book belonged to her Aurora Teagarden series which I love, and Chlld’s the Teashop series. I checked your lists and found that they were both being republished. Thanks to you, I saved myself some money by not buying books I had already read.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Regina, now that Charlaine Harris is so doggone popular, her publishing house is really getting her old mystery series’ books republished. Maybe that will give Harris an incentive to get back to her Aurora Teagarden and Lily Bard mystery series! Wouldn’t that be great?
Annie S. says
Thanks for the update! I updated my “I want to read these books” list. Have a great weekend.
Annie S. in FL
Danna - cozy mystery list says
You’re welcome, Annie S! I am going to have a great weekend. Our daughter has come home for a week.
Margaret says
I already pre-ordered the new Death on Demand and Regan Reilly Mysteries! I am so excited, woohoo! Of course I have also found a couple of new series (a chance to get in at the start and not have to play catch up is always nice) so I best get to reading to keep up. It is almost time to put the outside furniture up which makes me want to read even more. I read all year long but there is something about sitting in the fresh air with a book that makes me read so much more. I should be caught up in no time.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Margaret, I saw the neatest Regan Reilly Christmas movie this past season: Deck the Halls. I really enjoyed seeing both the movie, and a lot of the cast: Kathy Najimy (the voice of Peggy Hill on King of the Hill – a show I love), Larry Miller, and Jane Alexander. Also, Carol Higgins Clark appears as the bartender twins!
Margaret says
Danna, I was so mad! I put it on the night it aired but fell asleep early. I didn’t set the DVR, because they were showing all the other mystery movies (TNT did a different movie, based on a mystery novel a week) over again and they were OnDemand. Well all except for “Deck the Halls”. I too love that cast. So since it is a Christmas Movie, I guess I will have to wait until December (hopefully). But, what I saw of it was really good. I had never read that book, I only knew how the story began from the following books (CHC would mention things to catch up thru out the following books) so I looked forward to the movie. Ah well such is life!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Margaret, no doubt they will re-air Carol Higgins Clark’s Deck the Halls sometime this year. I’m actually guessing that it will be closer to October than December. Seems like all of the channels jump the gun during the holiday season.
susie calkins says
What a great list! Just curious, have you noticed if there are some months with more cozies produced than others? Will the lists in summer months be super long? Or do you think more come out in winter, for gift giving, snuggling by fire etc. Can’t wait to read the new Anne Perry. I love her!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Susie, I could be wrong, but I think the months of October and November seem to be particularly long… for the obvious Christmas giving reason.
ginger says
i just wanted to say i think this is a great site. you give the number of books in the series. that helps me alot. i keep my to buy list by paperbacks and hardbacks and by month and year. i take it with me when i go to the bookstore so i won’t buy the same book. you have heard of extreme couponing, i am an extreme bookperson. i think it is a disaster if i don’t go to the bookstore once a month, especially when the new books come out. i love to read mysteries.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Thank you, Ginger. I’m glad you are enjoying the site. (I have certainly seen the extreme couponing ads on television, and can only imagine what an “extreme bookperson” must be like in a bookstore!
ginger says
i have noticed in reading all things on this site that you have most of the authors that i read. as for the aurora teagarden books, i have all of them already. i got them years ago and i would love new ones in that series and lily bard too.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Ginger, there are a lot of us who would have enjoyed seeing more books published in the original Charlaine Harris mystery series.
marilyn says
i just read a great series by melissa bourbon a magicial dressmaking mystery. the first book is “pleating for mercy” i just finished book two “a fitting end”she designs and sews clothes for people. her magic is in the clothes. her family each has a magic gift
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Hi Marilyn, Melissa Bourbon is on the site, and I’m glad to hear how much you like her books.
linda says
I have two books that I am waiting for the weekend to read. I have ” V is for Vengence” by Sue Grafton and ” The Litigators” by John Grisham.. The librarian said both were very good books, ” The Litigator” being a can’t put down book.
With a weekend of college basketball coming up, I will have plenty of time to read. I love basketball but sometimes enough is enough. At least I’ll know what hubby is doing all weekend!!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Linda, it sounds like you have a busy reading weekend coming up. I hope you enjoy both of your mystery picks.
linda says
Danna, I did enjoy Sue Grafton’s new release but for some reason couldn’t get into John Grisham’s book. Maybe because of all the basketball games that weekend. I will read this book though. I love John Grisham’s books. These are 2 more authors that all they have to do it seems is to pick up a pen. terrific writers and story tellers.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Linda, I am so glad my husband doesn’t follow TOO many televised sports! He DVRs the Dallas Cowboys and the San Antonio Spurs, and then is really careful to not see the scores before he watches them that afternoon or the next day (depending on the time of the games.) Oh, and he also DVRs the Cleveland Browns when they are on television. (He grew up right outside Cleveland.)
As for favorite authors not always hitting a home run with their fans. I’ve had a few “misses” from some of my favorite authors, but, if there are two misses in a row >>> that’s as good as a three-strikes-you’re-out for me.
Jerry says
If you have not read Deborah Coonts and her lucky series you should start now. Keeps you going from page 1 till the end. She also has Lucky in Love coming out later this year.
Philip R Craig also has a number of books out. Unfortunatly passed away a number of years ago but just finished 2 of of his books. Easy interesting murder mysteries.
Keep the suggestions coming
linda says
Jerry, I started reading Phillip Craig’s books about 2 summers ago. These were nice books to read outside on a hot summer day with a couple of wine coolers close by!
Although I am sometimes upset when my favorite authors die I think God must want these people up in Heaven with Him so that He can read a good book now and again, too!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Jerry, thanks for telling us about Deborah Coonts and her Lucky Mystery Series.
Robert says
You are such an invaluable resource. I have been relying on you for years now. Your efforts here have enriched my life. Thank you.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Thank you so much, Robert, for the kind words about the site. I’m glad you have been enjoying it.
Dotty says
I love your websight. I look forward each month for the new book releases. I have found new authors to read from your web site and I have even gotten my husband using your site searching for different authors. Keep up the good work.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Thank you, Dotty, for the kind words about the site. I’m glad your husband is also able to find some of his authors.
Thanks, again.
Jerry says
Danna Just finished Death, island style by Maggie Toussaint. Never read her before. Nice Cozy Murder Mystery. James Patterson’s Guilty Wives and G A Mckevett’s Buried in Buttercream both coming out this week. Keep the suggestions coming and I love your web site

linda says
Danna, I just went through your April new releases list again. I found that out about Jessica Fletcher’s books, too. If I can’t find the books under Donald Bain’s name I will look under Jessica Fletcher’s name.
I hope with this new book that Jessica is back in Cabot Cove. I want to visit Cabot Cove sometime. I know, I know, this is a fictitious place but whenever I read or see the scenery from Cabot Cove I think about the Head Lighthouse near Portland, Maine. Along with the Redwood National Forest, this is my dream destination. Someday I hope to visit these two places. I hope people who live along this coast line appreciate what they have! To be able to see a tree big enough to drive through!!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
I find it really odd that bookstores and libraries shelf Murder, She Wrote books in both Donald Bain’s and Jessica Fletcher’s areas. I mean, one can only assume that the people reading them are adults… (Need I say more?)
linda says
Sorry for all of my misspelled words and typing mistakes. But wait!! I am having carpel tunnel surgery on my right hand this week. If you think my typing is bad with two hands, wonder what it will be with only one hand!!!!
Not looking for sympathy here. I should have had the surgery years ago. But I have gotten so that I can’t even hold my book without pain. For a reader like me, yes that is major!!!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Oh, Linda! I’m sorry to hear you have to go in for surgery, but it’s a good thing that you will be alleviated from pain. You will be in my thoughts…
Regina S. says
I’m currently reading Southern Fried by Cathy Pickens but after I’m done with that I see what else I have to read, and then probably stock up on Jessica Beck’s books. Killer Crullers and Drop Dead Chocolate
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Regina S, don’t you just love it when you have books already picked out to read. I am currently reading a White House Chef mystery (by Julie Hyzy) but have about five mysteries on my Kindle that I feel like I ABSOLUTELY have got to read next.
Regina S. says
I probably will grab a book off my bookshelf. I want to get back to my book a week schedule. It’s hard when I’m writing my own book and doing things for work and my side business as well.. Oy! so much to do! 🙂
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Regina S, with as much as you have going on, I’m surprised you have time to read a book!
Regina S. says
I’m surprised I have time to read as well. It helps when I am at the hair salon or nailery. I also read before I go to sleep. I have my reading light on and just read until my eyes get droopy. I am currently on chapter 4 of “Southern Fried”. Her chapters are longer than what I am used to reading so it’s taking me a bit longer.
Jerry says
Just finished G A Mckevett’s new book Buried in Buttercream and James Patterson’s Guilty Wives. Could not put down either one. Had off yesterday and finished Wives in 1 day.
Always looking for new authors and new ideas.
JMW
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Jerry, looks like you have very eclectic taste where your mystery books are concerned. Even the titles (Buried in Buttercream & Guilty Wives) sound very different.
Jerry says
Danna
I have a list of about 40 authors that my wife, my mother in law and I read. Always looking for more suggestions
Danna - cozy mystery list says
I know, Jerry, I’m always looking for more suggestions, also. I have even ended up RE-trying authors who I previously didn’t like, since some of the comments make the authors sound so doggone good. In some of the cases I have actually added the authors to my “favorite authors” list, in others, I have found I still dislike the authors’ books for one reason, or another.
MaryLou says
New Finley Tanner from Rhonda Pollero out April 17. For those who love fun, romantic suspense will love Finlay!!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
MaryLou, thanks for telling us about Rhonda Pollero’s new F.A.T. mystery. I don’t know how I missed that one!
(Thanks to you, I have updated Pollero’s page and the April 2012 Release page. Thanks, again!)
