I have just added four new authors to the Cozy Mystery site. I haven’t read them yet, but other Cozy Mystery site readers think that they belong on the site:
Alan Gordon (a New York lawyer) writes an historical mystery series that takes place in the 13th century. Gordon’s Fools’ Guild Mystery Series features medieval court jesters who are also secret agents.
Diane Morlan is the author of the Jennifer Penny Mystery Series which takes place in Minnesota. Jennifer roasts and brews coffee, as well as sleuths.
Phil Rickman pens the Merrily Watkins Mystery Series which takes place in Great Britain. Merrily is a single mother and a Church of England parish priest. She is a type of exorcist for the Church. Not Cozy.
Gayle Wigglesworth writes the Claire Gulliver Mystery Series. The sleuth is an ex-librarian who inherits a traveling bookshop. Each of the mystery books in this series take place in a different location.

I have a couple of Phil Rickman’s books on Mt Git’r’Read. I never thought of the series as a cozy, due to its book size (600 + pages). It’s honkin’ HUGE! But I know it’s more than that. I just have to rethink.

Vickie, that’s because he’s not Cozy… When I posted the entry, I inadvertantly deleted “Cozy” after the “Not” at the end of his description. Sorry about that…
Aurian says
wow, I would love to see a travelling bookshop! do those things really exist in the States?
Gayle says
They do exist. The one I modeled Gullivers’Travel Bookshop after lived in Palo Alto California for many years and was a big influence in my travel life. I was so sorry that by the time my first mystery was published it had disappeared but I know there are others in California as I have visited them. So search for one in your area or just visit Claire’s.

Aurian, I would guess that a travelling bookshop would be sort of like a book mobile. I’m not sure if libararies still have them, but I know there were plenty about ten years ago…

The first thing that came to mind was “Parnassus on Wheels” by Christopher Morley. It is about a traveling bookseller and was published in 1917. It is not a mystery, but the sequel, “The Haunted Bookshop” is a mystery. These books may be hard to find, but not impossible. They are re-issued from time to time.

Thanks for telling us about Christopher Morley’s books, Laura.
