It’s that time again! I have just added some new authors to the site. I know that I am repeating myself again… When I first started the Cozy Mystery site, I only posted authors who I was familiar with… mostly those authors who I follow and with whom I enjoy spending time>>> reading their written words. Almost all of the authors were cozy by nature, but some of them were true crime (three or four, who I described as true crime), some of the authors wrote police procedurals (a very select few), some of the authors were actually “gritty” (a handful)… The vast majority of the authors I included on the site were COZY… thus the name of the site! But, there were some authors such as Colin Dexter (Inspector Morse), Reginald Hill (Dalziel and Pascoe), Elizabeth George (Lynley and Havers), and Ann Rule (true crime) who I just HAD to include, even though they aren’t “cozy.”
At first, I was a little hesitant about adding new authors to the site who I had not been able to try reading. But, as the site’s readership grew, I was “approached” by more and more people with authors who they thought belonged on the Cozy Mystery site.
I have been offered books to read by both authors, their agents, and/or their publishers.. but I have refused all of the very generous offers because I was never sure of when I would actually have the time to read the books, and also, because by nature I am not a very “strong-willed” person… I was afraid that if I read a free book that had been given to me, I would feel like I had to say nice things about it, even though I might not truly like it that much. (I don’t want to give the impression that I can be “bought” with a $6.49 paperback… but I think that most of you can get my point…)
Anyway… on to what I was initially trying to say when I started this blog: Now that I do add recommended authors to the site who I haven’t tried reading, it’s up to you to decide whether or not you want to try the authors. I cannot (obviously) vouch for authors who I haven’t tried reading…

Please add Kate White.

Have you read anything by Kaitlyn Dunnett?
I just read Kilt Dead and ordered the latest in the series Scone Cold Dead
I highly recommend Kilt Dead. I loved it. The setting is in a fictional village called Moosetookalook, Maine. Isn’t that an amazing name?
Please consider adding this author to your site.
Thanks
Annette

Hi Annette,
I actually have Kaitlyn Dunnett already posted… under her other name “Kathy Lynn Emerson.” Thanks for telling me about her Kaitlyn book… Kilt Dead. I will add it to her page…

Hi Kim,
Thanks for suggesting Kate White for the site. Another site reader also recommended her… I actually started working on a page for her but ended up making up a page (to be posted very shortly) of her mother’s work instead. So, thank you for reminding me about adding a page for Kate White… (I don’t know why I got so side-tracked… but, I think that I have mentioned that if I don’t write myself notes, a lot of the time I simply forget about my initial tasks…)

I just stumbled on your site during a working lunch…
So glad that you’ve added Donna Leon, she is a superb author who truly captures Italy.
It would be great to enhance the “travel” section of your site with a list of books set in particular spots (i.e., Italy, for ex). Might be time-consuming, however.
Thanks

Glad you found the site, Nan. A “travel” section would be a great addition to the site… I will put it on my list of future articles/blogs.
