January will start off the year well for Cozies, with two new Cozy Mystery Series by established authors as well as one holiday-themed release!
First up, Nancy Coco will be releasing Death Bee Comes Her, the first in her new Oregon Honeycomb Mystery Series. Wren Johnson is the owner of Let It Bee, a honey specialty store in the tourist town of Oceanview, Oregon. She has the misfortune of stumbling across a body clutching a sample of her own wares, leading her to become a leading suspect in the death. Coco also writes the Candy-Coated Mystery Series, starring the owner of a fudge shop in Michigan, as well as several smaller series under the names Nancy J. Parra and Nell Hampton.
NOTE: Actually, this came out about a year ago, but as a Barnes & Noble exclusive… I’m leaving this here because a lot of people might not be aware of it yet.
Dorothy St. James will be starting the A Beloved Bookroom Mystery Series, with first entry The Broken Spine. Trudell Becket is a book-loving librarian who is suddenly out of work when her library changes to a bookless library, but decides to rebel against the change and start a secret book room in the basement. Unfortunately, the town councilman who was leading the change is found crushed beneath a shelf of DVDs – and Trudell’s opposition to the change leads her to become a primary suspect. St. James also writes the Raven’s Run Romantic Mystery Series, the Southern Chocolate Shop Mystery Series, and the White House Gardener Mystery Series.
Finally, Leslie Meier will be continuing her long-running holiday-themed Lucy Stone Mystery Series with St. Patrick’s Day themed Irish Parade Murder. Lucy is faced with possible replacement by up-and-coming reporter Rob Callahan, and only manages to become assigned to the St. Patrick’s Day parade story after he passes on it. But Rob has bigger problems – he’s been accused of causing the death of a corrections officer, and Lucy doubts that he’s responsible for the crime.

Carol, I agree!

Death Bee Comes Her came out a year ago. It may have been a B & N exclusive, but I have two copies of this book already.

Susy, thanks – my method for site updates mainly checks through Amazon, so I wasn’t aware of it before now. I’m going to leave it up, since many others might have the same issue.

I have noticed this happening with several books lately and I am sure I speak for many when I say I HATE IT!

Susy, it certainly makes running a site about book releases harder than it needs to be… I don’t like Amazon exclusives much either (just sell it everywhere), but at least those I can track a bit easier.

I must say, when a book is retitled, or even reissued, I find myself almost exclusively in a state of bewilderment.
Granted, more so if it is retitled, or, rather, renamed, but if it is a really good book then a republishing is a very good thing. Although I find it confusing why there seems, at least, to me, so many extra details with the reissuing, but I digress.
Danna’s reply to your comment had me thinking though. I never thought about going to one Website to track the forthcoming books of multiple authors; usually I visit the author’s own Website; since August, 2020, I have made an extra effort to support local and independent booksellers. In fact, I only placed one order on Amazon.com this month, because I received an eGift code, and my order was only about as equal to the coupon code, but I digress.

I love the Cozy Mysteries.

Barb, so do I!

I just started an ARC of Broken Spine and am liking it so far. As a retired librarian, I can relate to Trudy’s reaction to a “bookless library.”

Pam, thanks for the recommendation!
Pam says
Update: I finished Broken Spine and highly recommend!

Looking to read any delightful upcoming cozy novels that include sewing/quilting, crochet, knitting. Most times authors include patterns in the story of the book or at the end pages. Those are as exciting to make as it was reading the book.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Autumn, those sort of extras are always a wonderful addition!

I am going to have to check out the St. James book. Looks good. I don’t think I have read any of her books yet, so I could end up adding a whole bunch books to my wishlist.

Susy, I hope you enjoy it if you pick it up!
