I know I have really been bad about adding new authors to the Cozy Mystery site. I am (again!) going to try to get more of them posted. I mean, if you all are recommending mystery authors you think belong on the site, then I really should get them posted!
Here are the four newest additions of mystery authors to the Cozy Mystery site:
Tasha Alexander Alexander writes an historical mystery series which is set in Victorian London: the Lady Emily Mystery Series. Lady Emily is a young widow of a viscount. (Alexander has her B.S. in English/Medieval Studies, which obviously helps a lot when writing an historical series.)
Joan Blacher Blacher is a psychotherapist who worked as both a professor and counselor at the university level. She writes the Ardis Jensen Mystery Series, which features a counselor at a university who used to be a forensic psychologist.
Christy Fifield (aka Christy Evans & Christina F. York) Fifield writes the Haunted Souvenir Shop Mystery Series which features, as its sleuth, a Florida souvenir shop owner. As Christy Evans she writes the Georgiana Neverall Mystery Series.
Janice Hamrick Hamrick pens the Jocelyn Shore Mystery Series which is set in Austin, Texas. Jocelyn is a high school teacher/sleuth. Hamrick got her Bachelor’s in English, and has worked as a technical writer for a computer software company.

I just started reading the Tasha Alexander books last month, but I have really enjoyed her work so far (I’m about halfway through book 2). I have always enjoyed historical mysteries, and I particularly enjoy them when the author takes care to make the characters and relationships believable for the time period rather than making them politically correct for modern sensibilities (although I do love Emily Brightwell’s Mrs. Jeffries novels).

Julia, thanks for writing and telling us about your enjoyment of Tasha Alexander’s Lady Emily (historically accurate) mysteries!
(I totally agree with what you say about some other historical mysteries written today that reflect our times, rather than the times of the mystery series.)
Deb says
I just requested all the Tasha Alexanders from my library, along with the Georgina Neveralls, which I have read before. That makes 23 books I’m waiting for, most of which I learned about here. Thank you all for all the recommendations!

Good choices, Deb.
You must either be a speed reader, or you’re allowed to keep your library books longer than we can! There is no way I could read 23 books in three weeks!
Deb says
Actually, it’s both! I read about a book a day, and if there are no requests for a book, we get to renew it for another 3 weeks.
I’ve been reading since I was 2, so I’ve had plenty of practice, and since I’m retired I’m reading more than ever. No surprise that my first career was as a librarian!
In my first paid librarian job at Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, I was in Social Science and History and the popular books section, which had mysteries, science fiction, and other genres, was right next door. The head of the department was a mystery maven who recommended all sorts of series I hadn’t yet discovered. Reading this blog feels like being back there.
When I left Pratt to become a school librarian, it took me over a month to return all the books I had out!

That’s a lot of reading, Deb! (I can certainly understand why you became a librarian.)

Thanks for adding new authors! I have a list of all the cozy authors I want to read books from which I compiled using your blog/website. Thank you for having such a wonderful blog! I added Tasha Alexander and Joan Blacher. Thanks again.

Annie S, I’m glad I finally got these four authors added to the Cozy Mystery site.
It seems that as soon as I add new authors to the site, I get more authors from readers’ recommendations. My list of authors to post on the site just keeps growing and growing!

Thanks for these! I’ve read all the Tasha Alexander (love her!) but these other series look wonderful too. Thanks for sharing these! I can’t wait to get to the library this weekend!

Susie, thank you for “endorsing” Tasha Alexander’s mysteries.

Danna I would love you to add Marnie Graff to the site. She writes as M.K. Graff, I did see her titles THE BLUE VIRGIN and DEATH UNSCRIPTED on Amazon. She was at our SinC meeting today. Her Son and Daughter live in our area and are Library Directors to two small, lovely local Libraries. She is originally for Long Island but lives in North Carolina now. She spoke at her Son’s Library earlier this week and came as a special guest to speak for our group. She is a lovely woman and I would love for more people to discover her. Here is a link to a blog with some info on Marnie: http://marilynmeredith.blogspot.com/2010/10/marni-graff-author-of-blue-virgin.html
I think some of us may enjoy her work. Plus it is always nice to help out an Author.

Thank you, Margaret. Your comment leads me to believe that you haven’t yet read any of her books. Do you know if she writes Cozy Mysteries?
Either way, thanks for telling us about Marnie Graff.
Margaret says
Danna, I have not read THE BLUE VIRGIN yet, but I plan to. Her second series, which is not out yet; DEATH USCRIPTED
Margaret says
OOPS! sorry about that Danna, as I was saying…DEATH UNSCRIPTED which is not yet released seems a little more cozy then THE BLUE VIRGIN. But I think THE BLUE VIRGIN blends cozy with a little police procedural mixed in. But I think it sounds more like a cozy. It is about an American childrens’ book author who tries to clear her friend who is accused of murder much to the dismay of a Police Detective.
DEATH UNSCRIPTED is about a Manhattan Nurse, who consults on film sets, which is similar to Marnie’s own experiences.

Thanks, again, Margaret.
