Susan Rogers Cooper… One of My Very Favorite Authors…

Good Grief!!! I don’t know how I missed Susan Rogers Cooper’s last E. J. Pugh mystery…. BUT I DID!!!! Romanced to Death came out this past August… and somehow, I lost it in my computer-desk mess!

So…. While looking this up…. I found out that she is putting out yet another mystery in January 2009… That one will be a MIlt Kovak mystery (Shotgun Wedding)… and I have to admit that Milt Kovak is my favorite of her three mystery series.

I have tried to find her website, to possibly find out why she took such a long break from writing her three mystery series (the other one is the Kimmey Kruse mystery series). I am wondering if that is why she was under my radar, so to speak. It seems like she wrote mystery novels pretty consistently from 1988 to 2000, and then took a (much-deserved) break. As one of Susan Rogers Cooper‘s fans, I hoped that she had not decided to retire from writing her mysteries. So, when she put out a Milt Kovac novel in 2003, and then followed that up in 2007 with another, I was… very happy to say the least! 

(P. S.  Can you tell I’m excited?!?!)

2008 Nero Awards, Derringer Awards, & Anthony Awards

Where has the time gone!? I can’t believe that I am this far behind on posting the 2008 Derringer Award Winners, the 2008 Nero Award Nominees and the 2008 Anthony Award Nominees. (I will be annotating the winners of the Anthony Awards after they are announced this weekend.)

I started working on all of these awards a while back, then put them on hold for a while, and just yesterday I decided that I really did have to get them posted on my Awards pages.

I saw a few authors who look familiar, and then of course, there are authors who are not yet familiar names for me. (I know that I have said this before, but the Malice Domestic Agatha Awards are really the awards that include most of our cozy authors… which makes perfect sense, since they are actually named for the woman with the name which is most synonymous with cozy mysteries.)

Whew! What a relief it is to finally get this done! I hope that you find some authors who you think that you might enjoy reading amongst all of them!

Elizabeth Chamberlin: Jane Mayhew Mystery Series… Jane is a retired accountant still solving problems… only now the problems don’t just involve numbers…
