Over the weekend I found out about two new Cozy Mystery books that are going to be released, which quite frankly, I don’t know how I missed those two until now!
Laura Childs: Most of you probably already know she will be releasing the 16th Cozy in her Tea Shop Mystery Series, titled Ming Tea Murder. But did you know she will also be releasing a new Scrapbooking Cozy titled Parchment and Old Lace? Yep, she will be releasing the 13th Scrapbooking mystery, and I’m pretty excited about that!
Some of you know that my daughter is currently working in New Orleans, so my husband and I occasionally drive out to see her. We have had a great time hunting down the places Laura Childs describes so accurately in her Scrapbooking Cozies. Parchment of Old Lace has the Commander’s Palace in it, which we already had decided we were going to be visiting during our next time out in New Orleans.
Joyce and Jim Lavene/J.J. Cook/Ellie Grant: OK, now I know most of you already know they will be releasing Looking for Mr. Good Witch, which will be the 2nd in their Retired Witches Mystery Series. That’s great news in itself, but did you know they are also releasing a new Peggy Lee Garden Cozy?
Yes, it’s true! It’s the 10th anniversary of their Peggy Lee Garden Mystery Series, and we all get to celebrate by enjoying the 8th in the series titled Killing Weeds.
On to my next find: As J.J. Cook, the Lavenes will be releasing Fat Tuesday Fricassee. This will be the 3rd in their Biscuit Bowl Food Truck Mystery Series. (I’m sorry, but I don’t have the book cover, but will post it on the Cozy-Mystery site as soon as I find it.)
Also, Kathleen Ernst is releasing a new Cozy in her Chloe Ellefson Mystery Series. Some of you know that Kathleen also writes American Girl mysteries, for which she has been nominated several times for the Agatha Award for Best Children’s/Yound Adult mysteries, as well as an Edgar Award for Best Juvenile mystery nomination. The sleuth (Chloe Ellefston) is a curator of a Wisconsin living history museum during the 1980s. Anyway, Death on the Prairie is the 6th Cozy Mystery in this series.
Usually, when I find new Cozies, I just go ahead and post them on the site. But I got so doggone excited about these, that I had to hurry up and tell you!

Shannon, and just think, there are a lot more where these came from! Isn’t it great!

I went to Tulane in NOLA, and it’s so great to hear that your daughter is working in my favorite city! I don’t know how to email you directly, but if you’re interested in that part of the world, my soon-to-be-released mystery, PLANTATION SHUDDERS: A CAJUN COUNTRY MYSTERY (from Crooked Lane Books) is set about an hour and half north of NOLA, at a plantation-turned-B&B. It was inspired by a stay at Madewood Plantation, and a Cajun tour guide from Ashland-Belle Helene who became a close friend. LMK if you want more info.

Ellen Byron, thank you for telling us about your upcoming Plantation Shudders.
Nikki L says
Definitely go to Commanders when you’re in NOLA. You’ll love the garden room. I’m a Laura Child’s fan too so thanks for the info. And if you wander up to the northshore by us, come to lovely Ponchatoula for the Strawberry Fest next month.

Nikki L, my daughter has gone to Commander’s Palace several times and tried to get us to go in January, but I was more interested in trying out “famous” chefs’ restaurants. We went to three very famous chefs’ restaurants, and then she insisted on taking us to Willie Mae’s chicken place and a hole-in-the-wall fish place. Those two places were better than the 3 famous chefs’ restaurants! Next time we’ll listen to our daughter!

I’ve ordered Laura Childs newest Tea Shoppe – Ming Tea Murder to release in May from Amazon. I’ll review it for her online and I ‘m looking forward to finishing Scorched Eggs in the Cackleberry series.
I also want to try out some of the others you’ve mentioned.
Thanks for the help and direction.
Rob

Rob, the thanks go to ALL of the Cozy Mystery readers who recommend their favorite authors/books each month! I wish I could take all of the credit, but alas…

Is it true that Carolyn Hart is done with the Death on Demand series? She posted this on Facebook.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Marla, it’s sad, but true. She is saying good bye to Annie and Max Darling. She’ll be focusing on her Bailey Ruth (Ghost) Mystery Series. Thank you for letting us know.
Jackie J. Griffey says
Can’t believe it! I’ll miss Max and Annie but I do enjoy Bailey Ruth so I won’t complain. My heartfelt thanks to her and all these other talented authors and you too, Danna 😎
Jackie.

Jackie J. Griffey, you are so right about having heartfelt thanks!

Marla, thanks again for telling us about Carolyn Hart retiring her Death on Demand series. This is incredibly big news in the Cozy Mystery world! I am so sad about this, but am glad she will be continuing writing her Bailey Ruth Mystery Series.
Again, thank you for telling us!

Hi Danna
I just read a comment on J A Jance, and I agree that her work is not “cozy” by any means. In fact, after the last book I read from her, a Beaumont mystery, I have decided not to read her work any more because of the cursing. I just do not appreciate that kind of language, and for me, it takes the fun out of it. Maybe I’m too much of a prude, but there ya go! (:
Thank you for working so hard to help us find the cozy authors.
Linda H
