I’ve decided it’s time to once again add authors to the site, which I usually do in batches of four – not sure why! I just do. As always, these were mostly recommended to me by site users.
Vivien Chien grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, where she still lives, working on her Cozy Mystery Series, the Noodle Shop Mystery Series, which stars Lana Lee, a waitress working at her family’s noodle restaurant.
Devon Delaney is a lifelong resident of the American Northeast, and has competed in cooking competitions. Her Cozy Mystery Series is the Cook-Off Mystery Series, starring Sherry Frazelle, a cooking contestant living in a small town in Connecticut.
A former English professor who plays blues guitar, Peggy Ehrhart holds a doctorate in Medieval Literature, and has published non-fiction work on that subject. She writes the Maxx Maxwell Mystery Series, starring a blues-singer sleuth, as well as the Knit & Nibble Mystery Series, starring the associate editor of a crafting magazine.
Kirsten Weiss has lived a significant portion of her life overseas, spending nearly fourteen years in the fringes of the former USSR and Southeast Asia. She now lives in San Mateo, California. She is the author of the Pie Town Mystery Series, the Perfectly Proper Paranormal Museum Mystery Series, the Doyle Mystery Series, and the Witches of Doyle Mystery Series.

I just finished reading Death by Dumpling by Vivien Chen and enjoyed it. The interconnections between the Chinese-American merchants in a shopping plaza in Cleveland offers a different perspective than many other cozies. I also picked up the new book by Devon Delaney and the second book in Kirsten Weiss’ Pie Town series from the library yesterday. I was pleased to see all three authors added to the site.

Janice, I’m glad to hear that there are already people on the site following many of these authors!
Christina K says
I’ve read all but Expiration Date. But I bought it yesterday. The other 3 are all great reads.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Christina, I’m glad to hear that site visitors have already been following the new authors.

I recently discovered Kirsten Weiss’ Pie Town series – so funny! It’s number 1 on my must read list.

Patti, thanks for the recommendation!

And here we go again! I have a question. Does Vivien Chien’s series have recipes? If yes, it’s on the “to buy” list…if not, the “maybe” list, but either way, it is on a list!
Also, I already had Weiss’ “Paranorma Museum” on my list, but I did NOT have “Chocolat a la Murder,” so that’s added, as well as her “Doyle” and “Witches of Doyle” serieseseseses ~slaps self on hand~
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Bek, I’m not sure if she has recipes or not… but I don’t see mention of it on the Amazon pages for her books, so I would assume not.
Sounds like you have a few more for the list either way though!
Robert Alvarez says
Bek, although I AM not much of a baker–there is a part of me that loves the concept and the practice, and I have no issue baking something while the temperature is ninety degrees Fahrenheit, in the shade–I do enjoy Cozy Mysteries that have recipes.
When I finally decide to start baking, at least semi-regularly, I shall have some great recipes for me to use for practice! HA!!
Bek says
Well, for some odd reason, I see an answer by “Robert Alvarez,” but when I try to respond, it comes up “Judy j.” LOL, never mind. Regardless, I’m with you. I’m a fairly indifferent baker…I love the concept but actually gathering my materials and putting my paws in flour eludes me much of the time…probably because my kitchen is barely big enough to cuss a cat in (I know this for absolute fact, just ask the cat!). But BOY do I have some killer recipes to try at some point!
Robert Alvarez says
Given my love of Witchy and Psychic themed Cozy Mysteries, I can already see myself wanting to read the “Perfectly Prosper Paranormal Museum Mystery Series,” by Kirsten Weiss, and given my love for cats, I can already see myself checking out the “Knit & Nibble Mystery Series,” by Peggy Erhart.
Thanks for this, Danna.

Robert, you’re welcome! I’m glad the current crop of added authors caters to some of your preferences.
Robert Alvarez says
Danna, that is very kind of you.
However, the reason I subscribed to your blog was, actually, there were two reasons: 1. I wanted to find out about other Witchy and Psychic themed Cozy Mysteries, and 2., to explore other Cozy Mystery authors who may not write Witchy or Psychic themed Cozy Mysteries, but whose works I would enjoy.
Plus, you have an amazing list of themes, and I truly appreciate that, on so many levels, and for so many reasons.
As always, thank you for all you do.

Wisteria Witch series is good and funny. I’m reading it now. My kindle died. May we have a moment of silence. I can’t replace until June 1. I had it from 2007, it had a good run. I would give you the authors name, but I don’t remember. I’m having to read on my phone and I’m writing on it now. Check them out if you can find it. But her I think something in the name is Pepper. Winter Pepper or something like that or Pepper Winter? Anyway. They are fun so far. Sorry I can’t remember the name.
Bek says
Angela Pepper. They are on my “To Read” list, and I JUST realized that they are ONLY available on Kindle. SPIT! I can get them and read them on my laptop, of course. But…this means that I now have to go into my Media file, pull up EVERY AUTHOR ON THERE (a BUNCH) and add an “Eread” column to the “Edition” section. Should have done that a long time ago, and should have started downloading books, too. I just love hardcopy books so much.
Bek says
You and I must be reading a lot of the same cozies…witches, paranormal, cats, recipes…any one of those has be drooling, and if I get two or three out of four…well…~she swoons~
Ginger A Griffin says
I have bought all four of their books already. Kirsten Weiss I read the first of her pie town series and bought the second one. And the others are in the to be read pile. Which l will be starting on beginning Wednesday as school is done with on Tuesday.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Ginger, good to hear that school is wrapping up! I hope you enjoy your summer.
Roni Vollmer says
I recently found that G..A. McKevett also writes as Sonja Massie. Do you have a list of her books as Massie? Or, are they not cozy mysteries?? Thank you for helping me out!! Love this website, bye the way……
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Roni, apparently the books she wrote under the name Sonja aren’t mysteries… looking at them, they mostly seem to be stand alone romances or horror novels.
Mags says
I’ve read this Kirsten Weiss series, liked it very much!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Mags, thanks for the recommendation!

I’m just starting the third Kirsten Weiss “Paranormal Museum” book and just LOVE the series. Need to check out her others. Glad she finally made the list.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Deb, thanks for the recommendation! I’m glad that there are already people following the new authors.
Derek S says
I read Vivien Chen’s book and really enjoyed it. Can’t wait until the second one comes out this August. I really like how it is a little different than your typical cozies where a youngish woman inherits a house or helps an old relative.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Derek, originality is always appreciated. It’s definitely great to hear that it breaks a bit from the normal Cozy mold, at least a bit.
Melissa says
Thanks for sharing these new cozies! They all sound great!
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Melissa, you’re welcome!
DebbyB says
I’d like to suggest the addition of 2 authors to this site:
Naomi Hirahara and Colleen Shogan.
Danna - cozy mystery list says
Debby, thanks for the suggestion! I’ll have to check them out some time.
