Finally, it’s spring! Well, I say that for those of you who live in areas where you can actually enjoy the spring time. As I prepared the Turner Classic Movies channel’s April schedule of mystery and crime movies (in March), we have already had several days in the 80s. I’ve mentioned many times that we experience two seasons down here in San Antonio – humid and hot AND tepid and cool – yet still humid. So, we now see ourselves in the humid/hot/tropical-feeling weather. I sure do miss the four seasons!

February will soon be upon us, and, difficult as it may be to believe, it’s Leap Year! I’m not sure what I’m going to do with my extra day, but I’m going to try to make it a good one!

The Turner Classic Movies channel doesn’t have an extraordinary amount of mystery movies scheduled for February 2024, however there are quite a few Alfred Hitchcock movies sprinkled throughout the month. When I say “sprinkled” – that’s exactly what I mean… it seems the channel decided to put a few on one day, then skip a few days before adding a few more, etc. They all start on Monday, February 5. As an Alfred Hitchcock fan, I have to admit that I have seen almost all of them. (There is one I’m not sure about.) Still, I plan on watching several of them again — that’s how much I enjoy his films.

Wow, another New Year is almost upon us! I hope 2024 is a GREAT year for ALL of us!

Something that sort of surprised me while I was getting the Turner Classic Movies mystery movies schedule together: The year is starting (on January 1) with Godzilla movies which are then going to be followed with the Marx brother movies, not the Thin Man mystery movies. For years, William Powell and Myrna Loy have been ushering us into the New Year with their “many-martinis” mystery movies.

Perhaps the Turner Classic Movies decided it was time to let another mystery movie hero welcome us into 2024… Several of The Saint mystery movies (based on Leslie Charteris’s mystery series) will be aired on Friday, January 12. I don’t believe I have seen all of the line-up, so I’ll be DVR-ing some of them. Three actors will be portraying Simon Templar (“The Saint”) so it will be interesting to see which one is the best…
