Upcoming Television Mystery Movies for August 2019

July 25, 2019

I don’t have a huge amount to say about the upcoming month of August’s mystery movies – there are a few small “marathons” of mystery movies, usually arranged by actor, such as the Henry Fonda marathon on the first and the Melvyn Douglas marathon on the 5th, but aside from those this is just going to be a relatively normal month for TCM mystery movies.

Upcoming Television Mystery Movies for July 2019

June 28, 2019

If you’re a fan of Sherlock Holmes, then be sure you tune in to the Turner Classic Movies channel (TCM) on Wednesday (July 3) for a marathon of mystery movies that feature Sir Conan Doyle’s great detective. I was surprised to find out that all of the movies don’t feature the famous Basil Rathbone & Nigel Bruce acting duo! These will be followed by two Dick Tracy mystery movies.

Something I have noticed (particularly this month!) is the amount of movies from the late 1950s, ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s TCM is now showing. Even though I list the “newer” mystery movies, I generally prefer movies from Hollywood’s Golden Age (earlier than the 1960s) over these. Most of the time I simply don’t watch them – unless they feature a favorite actor or actress. I sometimes wonder if lots of other people prefer the older movies. I started watching TCM years ago, when Robert Osbourne just-about WAS TCM. Back then the channel rarely showed these “newer” movies…

Either way, here’s the July 2019 Turner Classic Movies channel‘s mystery movie line-up:

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Cozy Mystery Movies – June 2019

June 1, 2019

I know that summer is a time when lots of people head outdoors, but it is also the time for spending some time indoors, with the air conditioner. This is especially true if you live someplace hot and humid like San Antonio! It’s a perfect time to chill-out while watching a good movie.

The Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel will be showing lots of Murder, She Wrote, Hart to Hart, Columbo, Perry Mason, Matlock, Monk, and Psych shows throughout the weekdays and Saturdays. However, every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday they will be re-airing one of their original mystery shows at 8:00 PM Central. On Thursday nights they will be re-airing Christmas movies. (I’m going to just post the channel’s original mystery and Christmas movies.)
