Hercule Poirot, aka David Suchet on the Orient Express

It won’t be Murder on the Orient Express, but it will be David Suchet on the Orient Express.

Tonight, on your local PBS station (unless they are doing a special funding drive) David Suchet will be taking us on a tour of the Orient Express. And, of course, all of you know that David Suchet is the man behind the man with the little gray cells: the famous Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot.

So, check out your local PBS station so that you are sure to see this one-hour special Masterpiece presentation. And if you miss it tonight, it just might be re-shown in your area. Our PBS station will be re-airing it on Friday, July 9 at 12:30 AM and on Tuesday, July 13 at 2:30 and 3:30 AM.

(I think I saw a show that seemed quite similar to this a few years ago, and truly enjoyed it. I hope that this one is as good!)

Masterpiece Mystery! 2010 Summer Line Up…

I just went on the PBS television station website and found these dates for the following Masterpiece Mystery! television shows. Mark your calendars! BUT, I would also suggest that you search your local television stations to see if they are going to follow this schedule, or not. I know that in the past, my local San Antonio station has done their solicitation shows during the national line-up times.

Debbie Macomber's Mrs. Miracle… Not a Mystery Book, but Definitely a Holiday Movie

OK, OK! I know that Debbie Macomber isn’t a mystery book author. But I also know that there are several people who read the Cozy Mystery Site who are avid Debbie Macomber fans. So  for those of you Debbie Macomber fans>>> I want to tell you about the Debbie Macomber’s Mrs. Miracle movie, which the Hallmark network will be showing.

Debbie Macomber’s Mrs. Miracle will premier this Saturday (December 5) at 8:00, and then air “in a row” or “back to back” for the next six hours. That is to say that the Hallmark channel will be showing it at 8:00, 10:00, and then again at midnight. It will also air on Sunday during the Hallmark channel’s 8:00 movie line-up time. (All times are in the evening.)

I know this because I am one of the few people who own a Replay DVR machine (which I absolutely love!!! AND which UNFORTUNATELY they are no longer selling.) But because I have one of the few Replays out there, I can look through different television channel line-ups quite easily. (The Replay is to the Tivo what Betamax was to the VHS machine, or the 8-track tapes were to cassettes. One of them had to fail…)

Anyway, I have not seen the movie, nor have I read the novel, so I cannot vouch it. But, I can say that the wonderful Doris Roberts is in it, and it looks like a “feel good” holiday movie… I will definitely be DVR-ing it…. on my Replay!

The Good Wife… One of My (New) Favorite Shows

I just watched a new show that I am following: The Good Wife. >>>  Love it!

As if  The Good Wife‘s regular cast isn’t (to use the word from the title) “Good” enough!!! They brought in one of my very favorite actresses this past week: Martha Plimpton. I have always thought that she would have been the absolutely best actress to portray Stephanie Plum, the main sleuthing character of the wildly successful Janet Evanovich mystery book series.

The premise of the show is something we have witnessed all too often… An elected official is “found out” by the media, and as he apologizes for cheating (that’s a rather mild term for what this husband did) on his wife and children, the wife stands with him at the podium, with a Mona Lisa look on her face… You get the drift, no doubt… (***I have always thought that a cheating spouse not only cheats on their partner, but also on the children. The time he/she spends with his/her partner in the cheat, is time that he/she could have spent with his/her children… Now, should I get off of my shoebox?!?)

Julianna Margulies is excellent as the wife, Chris Noth is able to actually make me (almost!!!) like the cheating husband, I love Christine Barnaski in anything she is in, and the list of actors goes on and on.

If you haven’t already seen an episode of The Good Wife… It’s on CBS on Tuesday nights. Try it… You just might like it!
