Three New Mystery Series Coming October 2015 – Maddie Day (aka Edith Maxwell & Tace Baker): Country Store, Yasmine Galenorn (aka India Ink): Whisper Holly, Wendy Corsi Staub: Lily Dale

September 3, 2015

Well, it’s time to once again discuss some of the great upcoming releases we’ll have coming up very soon. This time I’ll be talking about the three new mystery series that will be starting in October.

The first will be Maddie Day‘s Flipped for Murder, the 1st in her new Country Store Mystery Series. In this series, Robbie Jordan leaves her West Coast life and troubles in order to head to the small southern Indiana town of South Lick, reopening a small store as the Pans ‘n Pancakes shop and restaurant. When an unpleasant aide to the mayor ends up dead at her grand opening, Robbie will need to help solve the crime to lift the suspicion falling on her new livelihood! Day also writes the Local Foods Mystery Series and Quaker Midwife Mystery Series as Edith Maxwell and the Speaking of Mystery Mystery Series as Tace Baker.

The next new series starting in October will be Yasmine Galenorn‘s Whisper Hollow Mystery Series starting with the first book, Autumn Thorns. In this novel, Kerris Fellwater, who has inherited her grandmother’s gift for communicating with the dead and the responsibility for laying them to final rest, will try to discover the secret’s of her own mother’s murder, who she had believed had left town. Yasmine Galenorn also writes the Chintz ‘n’ China Mystery Series, starring the owner of a tea room, and the Bath and Body Mystery Series under the name India Ink.

Finally, the third of our new series for October will be Wendy Corsi Staub‘s Nine Lives, the first book in the Lily Dale Mystery Series. This series will star young widowed mother Bella Jordan, who on a detour to a new life in Chicago will end up as an innkeeper in Lily Dale, New York – a town populated largely by mediums! She’ll need to help out and solve the murder while managing the inn, before either moving along to her final destination, or just possibly staying in Lily Dale. This will be the most “Cozy” sounding of Wendy Corsi Staub’s series to date, which also include the Nightwatcher Trilogy of thrillers and the Thriller Trilogy of… well, more thrillers.

As I’m sure many of you already know, all these and more are also listed in the New Cozy Mystery Book Series page on the site.

Three New Mystery Series Coming September 2015 – K. K. Beck: Workplace, Deanna Raybourn: Veronica Speedwell, Wendy Corsi Staub: Mundy’s Landing

August 14, 2015

Last month I told you about the new Cozy Mystery Series that would be coming out this month, August (Three New Cozy Series Starting in August 2015), so this month I’ll be discussing some of the new series getting started by established site authors coming out next month, September.

First up is K.K. Beck‘s new series, the Workplace Mystery Series, starting with her the first novel in the series, Tipping the Valet. This new series will star unlucky young Tyler Benson, currently a valet, who becomes involved in a series of auto thefts and a murder at his workplace restaurant. When a body turns up in a parked car and someone takes shots at a famous local tech magnate, Tyler will start to seem more and more like the logical suspect >>> which will force him to take up a second job as an amateur detective to avoid landing in jail! Beck writes several other series on the site, including the Iris Cooper & Jack Clancy Mystery Series, set in the 1920’s, and the Jane Da Silva Mysteries, starring a lounge singer and detective in Seattle, as well as a number of stand alone mysteries.

Next will be Deanna Raybourn‘s A Curious Beginning, which will be the first in the Veronica Speedwell Mystery Series. An orphan in Victorian England, Veronica intends to travel abroad and pursue her scientific studies after the death of her spinster aunt, but will instead be plunged into intrigue and a bit of romance when a mysterious German baron helps her thwart her own kidnapping. Unfortunately the baron soon turns up murdered – forcing Veronica and the baron’s friend, a foul-tempered librarian named Stoker, to both discover the killer and help piece together the mystery of what the baron knew about why Veronica was targeted for kidnapping. Raybourn also writes another Victorian-themed mystery series listed on the site, the Lady Julia Grey Mystery Series, starring a young widow living in Victorian London.

Finally will be Wendy Corsi Staub‘s Blood Red, the 1st in her Mundy’s Landing Mystery Series. (Staub’s books are more thriller than Cozy, but she is on the site and I know many of the site viewers are fans, so I thought it should be mentioned…) Mundy’s Landing is a scenic town in New York’s Hudson Valley, known for its beautiful vistas… and a past including a hundred-year-old serial killer case. Elements of this dangerous past appear to be repeating around Rowan Mundy, a grade school teacher and mother of three. Staub also writes the Lily Dale Mystery Series, the Nightwatch Trilogy, and the Thriller Trilogy – none really are Cozy, but thrillers that have been recommended by friends of the site.

Good Grief! I should have written this entry about the four new mystery series that will start in September! (Where is my head?)

Joyce and Jim Lavene (aka J.J. Cook & Ellie Grant) will be starting their Purple Door Detective Agency Mystery Series. Sunshine Merryweather is the sleuth in this series, and she happens to be a witch! She is also the owner of the Purple Door Detective Agency in Norfolk, Virginia. Sunshine will be spending a lot of time with Aine, a spirit, while she does her sleuthing. The first book in this series is Be My Banshee.

Three New Cozy Mystery Series Coming August 2015 – Peg Cochran (aka Meg London): Cranberry Cove, Shelley Freydont: Newport Gilded Age, Joyce and Jim Lavene (aka J.J. Cook & Ellie Grant): Pumpkin Patch

July 6, 2015

I love telling you about new Cozy Mystery series when some of our favorite Cozy Mystery authors launch them. And it looks like we’ll have three new Cozy Mystery series to look forward to in August by established authors on the site. They look like some real good ones, too!

First is Peg Cochran‘s (aka Meg London) Cranberry Cove Mystery Series, which will have its debut book, Berried Secrets, releasing in August. This upcoming novel will star Monica Albertson, who has come to the small town of Cranberry Cove, located on Lake Michigan, to help her half-brother Jeff run his cranberry farm. When Jeff comes under suspicion for the untimely death of his former farm manager, Monica will need to help make sure that his good name is cleared. Peg Cochran also writes the Gourmet De-Lite Mystery Series starring gourmet caterer Gigi Fitzgerald, the Lucille Mystery Series starring a middle-aged Jersey girl and Home Shopping Channel devotee, as well as the Sweet Nothings Vintage Lingerie Mystery Series under the pen name Meg London.

Next will be Shelley Freydont‘s A Gilded Grave, which will be the first book in her Newport Gilded Age Mystery Series. This series will be a period piece set toward the end of the 19th century, starring Deanna Randolph, a wealthy young woman of the American elite spending her first season in Newport, Rhode Island. When a young maid turns up dead and a young man she turned down for marriage becomes the primary suspect, Deanna knows he isn’t a killer. Shelley Freydont is also the author of several other Cozy Mystery series, including the holiday-focused Celebration Bay Mystery Series, the Sudoku Mystery Series starring a Sudoku champion and mathematician, and the Lindy Haggerty Mystery Series starring an ex-dancer in New Jersey.

Finally, Joyce and Jim Lavene (aka J.J. Cook & Ellie Grant) will be releasing Give ‘Em Pumpkin to Talk About, the first book in their new Pumpkin Patch Mystery Series. When attorney Sarah Tucker goes home to sell the old family farm in Misty River, Virginia, it brings back memories of when she was a young girl and her grandparents mysteriously disappeared just before she arrived for a vacation at the farm. When a man dies after claiming to know something about what happened to them, she won’t be able to go back home until she has finally reached the bottom of their mysterious disappearance. The Lavenes are also the authors of many other Cozy Mystery Series, including the Missing Pieces Mystery Series, the Renaissance Fair Mystery Series, the Taxi For the Dead Mystery Series, the Peggy Lee Garden Mystery Series, the Retired Witches Mystery Series, and the Sheriff Sharyn Howard Mystery Series… plus several others!

Of course, all of these series (and more, including this month’s upcoming new Cozy Mystery Series releases) can be found on the New Cozy Mystery Book Series page on the site.

Three New Cozy Mystery Series Coming July 2015 – Cathy Ace: WISE Enquiries Agency, Susan Furlong (aka Lucy Arlington): Georgia Peach, Karen MacInerney: Dewberry Farm

June 3, 2015

Well, it looks like June is going to be a bit “light” on new Cozy Mystery series getting started, but fortunately it appears that we’ll have three new series from established Cozy authors to look forward to in July!

First up is Cathy Ace, who will be starting her second Cozy Mystery series, the WISE Enquiries Agency Mystery Series, with the introductory novel The Case of the Dotty Dowager. This British mystery set in the scenic Welsh countryside will introduce the four women detectives of the WISE Enquiries Agency, one each of whom is Welsh, Irish, Scottish, and English… thus the acronym WISE.  All four of the women working at WISE have their own reason for needing money, so when Henry Twyst, Duke of Chellingworth, asks the ladies to investigate his aging mother’s questionable claims to have seen a corpse in the dining room, they jump at the chance. Cathy Ace also writes the Cait Morgan Mystery Series, starring plus-size professor and criminal profiler, as well as several anthologies of murder mysteries. (Also, she won the Canadian Bony Blithe Award this year for one of her Cait Morgan mysteries!)

The next new Cozy Mystery series will be Susan Furlong‘s Georgia Peach Mystery Series, which will begin with the book Peaches and Scream. When Nola Harper returns home to help run her family’s orchard in the small town of Cays Mill, Georgia, the last thing she expects to be asked to do is solved a murder. Despite this, when a local businessman is found dead in the orchard, she’ll need to help solve the case in order to clear the business (and herself!) of any wrongdoing. Susan Furlong also writes the Pippi O’Brien Mystery Series, starring the online seller of used merchandise, and is the current author of the Novel Idea Mystery Series, starring middle aged ex-journalist and current literary agency internt, Lila Wilkins.

Finally, Karen MacInerney will be releasing Killer Jam, the first in her new Dewberry Farm Mystery Series. Houston reporter Lucy Resnick is done with fast-paced city life >>>  she’s ready to retire to a more quiet countryside living, and has cashed in her early retirement to buy her grandmother’s farm in Buttercup, Texas. Unfortunately, when a local oil executive who hoped to buy out the farm and replace it with an oil derrick turns up dead, Lucy will be the most obvious suspect, forcing her to get to the bottom of the murder to help clear her name and keep the family business open! Karen MacInerney also writes the Gray Whale Inn Mystery Series, starring Natalie Barnes, the owner of a small bed and breakfast.
