Five New Cozy Mystery Series Coming June 2016

May 5, 2016

Wow! June sure looks like it’s going to be an interesting month for new Cozy Mystery series! We’ll be getting five new series all told, so let’s jump right in and take a look at what we can look forward to for summer reading!

First, Laura Bradford will be beginning the Emergency Dessert Squad Mystery Series with Éclair and Present Danger. In this book we’ll be introduced to Winnie Johnson, a bakery owner. Inspired by locating a dead client on a delivery (and naturally deciding to hunt down his killer), she also decides to deliver desserts by ambulance in an attempt to revive her failing business. (Hmmm… There’s nothing like getting your desserts from an ambulance! Well, I guess if it’s an emergency dessert drop-off, that would be OK…) Laura Bradford writes several other series – the Amish Mystery Series, starring the owner of an Amish specialty shop, the Jenkins & Burns Mystery Series, starring a reporter and detective duo in New Jersey, and (as Elizabeth Lynn Casey) the Southern Sewing Circle Mystery Series, starring librarian Tori Sinclair, a member of a sewing circle in South Carolina.

Next up will be Written Off, the first novel in E.J. Copperman‘s new Mysterious Detective Mystery Series. This series will star Rachel Goldman, a mystery writer who begins getting calls from a potential serial killer who claims to have the same name as the sleuth in Rachel’s own mystery series. E.J. Copperman also writes the very popular Haunted Guesthouse Mystery Series, starring Alison Kerby, a divorced single mom, as well as a pair of ghosts, the Asperger’s Mystery Series, starring a Samuel Hoenig, a borderline genius with Asperger’s syndrome, (and as Jeffrey Cohen) the Aaron Tucker Mystery Series, starring a journalist and screenwriter in New Jersey, and the Double Feature Mystery Series, starring Elliot Freed, owner of a comedy movie theater.

Fixin’ To Die will also be coming out in June, the first entry in Tonya Kappes‘s new Kenni Lowry Mystery Series. This series stars Kenni Lowry, newly elected sheriff of Cottonwood, Kentucky, who is proud of her town’s low crime rate until she learns that the ghost of her predecessor and grandfather has been scaring off potential criminals. However, Kenni will be needed when the town doctor is found murdered on the same day as a jewelry store robbery, and the two seem connected. Tonya Kappes writes a number of other series, including the Magical Cures Mystery Series, Ghostly Southern Mystery Series, Spies and Spells Mystery Series, and Olivia Davis Paranormal Mystery Series, all also paranormal mystery series, as well as the Divorced Diva Mystery Series and the Laurel London Mystery Series, as well as the Blossom Bay Story Series – only some of which are mysteries.

Gayle Leeson will be releasing The Calamity Café, the first in her Down South Café Mystery Series. In this book, Amy Flowers buys out her old boss to run the cafe her own way, knowing that her cooking will keep the regulars happy. But when her former boss finally agrees, Amy finds her dead >>> and naturally she becomes one of the prime suspects in the case! This might be the first series released under the name Gayle Leeson, but the same author writes (as Gayle Trent) the Daphne Martin Cake Mystery Series, starring a Virginia cake decorator, the Myrtle Crumb Mystery Series, starring a Virginia senior citizen, and (as Amanda Lee) the Embroidery Mystery Series, starring Marcy Singer, the owner of an embroidery shop in Oregon.

The final new series of the month will be the Zodiac Mystery Series by Connie di Marco, beginning with The Madness of Mercury. San Francisco astrologer Julia Bonatti has been forced out of her apartment by a competitor, and needs to take shelter with a client. But between a pair of the client’s disagreeable aunts and the arrival of a mysterious long-lost relative of the client, Julia can’t help but feel that her shelter might not be as safe as it seemed at first! Connie di Marco also writes the Soup Lover’s Mystery Series, starring Lucky Jamieson, the inheritor of a soup shop in Snowflake, Vermont, under the name Connie Archer.

If you’re looking forward to these new series, many more can be found on the New Cozy Mystery Book Series page, as well as the Soon to Be Released Mysteries page on my Cozy Mystery site.

One New Cozy Mystery Series Coming May 2016

April 5, 2016

Last month I told you about three new Cozy Mystery series that are going to begin this month (April 2016). If you’d like to refresh your memories, here is that post entry: Three New Cozy Mystery Series Coming April 2016. Well, so far it looks like we’re only going to have one new Cozy Mystery series from site authors coming out in May. However, this new Cozy series looks like a real winner!

May will see the beginning of Kylie Logan‘s Ethnic Eats Mystery Series with the first entry in the series, Irish Stewed. Former chef to a Hollywood celebrity, Laurel Inwood is somewhat below her former station when she finds herself cooking for her aunt Sophie’s restaurant in Hubbard, Ohio. Aunt Sophie’s business is in a bit of trouble, as it is more of a run-down establishment than Laurel had been led to believe before she relocated. Still, Laurel is determined to turn the business around with her menu of interesting specialty dishes. But when a local investigative reporter turns up in a booth with a receipt spike in his back, Laurel will need to cook up a solution of a different kind>>> a solution to murder! (Also, for those of you who like your Cozies to have recipes, you’re in luck!)

Kyrie Logan also writes the Button Box Mystery Series, League of Literary Ladies Mystery Series, and Chili Cook-Off Mystery Series, as well as the Cooking Class Mystery Series as Miranda Bliss and the Pepper Martin Mystery Series as Casey Daniels.

And of course, this series (and many more!) can be found on the New Cozy Mystery Book Series page, as well as the Soon to Be Released Mysteries page on my Cozy Mystery site.

March 3, 2016

There will be three great looking Cozy Mystery Series starting in April:

The first new series coming out will be the Magical Bookshop Mystery Series by Amanda Flower, with its first book, Crime and Poetry. In this book, Violet Waverly thinks her grandmom (Daisy) is sick, but is surprised to find her in good health. Instead, Daisy wants her to help run her bookshop >>> one where magic is in the shelves and books themselves! A dead man is found with a volume of Dickinson poetry from Daisy’s shop, and this very same dead man recently put Daisy in his will. Violet and Daisy will need to find the killer before Grandma Daisy becomes the next victim. Amanda Flower also writes the Living History Museum Mystery Series, starring the director of a living history museum, the Ohio Amish country Appleseed Creek Mystery Series, and the India Hayes Mystery Series, featuring a college librarian. She also writes the children’s Andi Boggs mysteries. As Isabella Alan she writes the Amish Quilt Shop Mystery Series.

Next up is Should Have Played Poker by (Judge) Debra H. Goldstein, the first in the Carrie Martin and the Mah Jongg Players Mystery Series. When Carrie Martin, corporate lawyer, meets her mother for the first time in over two decades since her mother abandoned her family, she gives Carrie a sealed confession that she once considered killing Carrie’s father. Carrie tries to seek out her father to learn more about the situation, but before reaching him she finds her mother dead, and the woman who raised Carrie seriously injured. Carrie will need to bring in her co-sleuths, the Sunshine Village Mah jongg players, to try to unravel the past if she wants to really learn how and why her mother died. Debra H. Goldstein also writes the Denney Silber Mystery Series, starring a university student in 1970s Michigan.

Third and final on our list is Edith Maxwell‘s Delivering the Truth, the first in her new Quaker Midwife Mystery Series. In this novel we will be introduced to 1880s Quaker midwife Rose Carroll. When the town’s famous carriage industry is threatened by a dangerous fire and the owner’s son is killed with Rose’s knitting needle, Rose will need to rise to the occasion to help discover the killer before the town’s industry and the source of many of their livelihood can be threatened once more. Edith Maxwell also writes the Local Foods Mystery Series starring an organic farmer in Massachusetts and, as Maddie Day, she writes the Country Store Mystery Series, starring the owner of the Pans ‘n’ Pancakes Country Store Restaurant in South Lick, Indiana.
