Five New-to-the-Site Cozy Mystery Authors: K.J. Emrick: Darcy Sweet, Janet Finsilver: Redwood Cove, Delia James: Witch’s Cat, Emma Miller: Amish Mystery, Marty Wingate: Potting Shed

March 18, 2016

Well, it’s time to add more authors to the site… This month I’ll be adding five new authors, all of whom have been recommended to me by some of you.

K.J. Emrick – K.J. Emrick is a resident of Southern Australia, and when she isn’t writing, she enjoys spending time volunteering at her local library. K.J. Emrick is the author of the Darcy Sweet Mystery Series, starring a bookstore owner, her cat, and the ghost of her great-aunt. K.J. also writes the spinoff series of Darcy’s cat, Smudge the Cat Mysteries. She also writes the Pine Lake Inn Mystery Series, the Spirit of the Soul Wine Shop Mystery Series, and (as Kathrine Emrick) the Tempest Beach Romantic Suspense Series.

Janet Finsilver – Janet Finsilver has spent most of her career in education as both a teacher and a program administrator. She writes the Redwood Cove Mystery Series which is set in northern California. The sleuth in this series is Kelly Jackson, the manager of the Redwood Cove Bed and Breakfast.

Delia James – Delia James writes the Witch’s Cat Mystery Series which takes place in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The cat referred to in the title is Alistair, the sleuth’s familiar. Annabelle Britton is the sleuth of the series, and we meet her as she first becomes a witch, with the help of Alistair.

Emma Miller – Emma Miller lives in rural Delaware, and has taught in an Amish schoolhouse. She is the author of the Amish Mystery Series, which takes place in Stone Mill, Pennsylvania. The series features Rachel Mast, a former Amish woman who returns to Stone Mill to run a bed and breakfast. Miller also writes the Amish Matchmaker and the Hannah’s Daughters non-mystery series.

Marty Wingate – Marty Wingate lives in Seattle, but both of her Cozy Mystery series are set in England. A lover of plant life, she has led a number of group garden tours to destinations such as England, Ireland, Scotland, France, and North America. She is the author of the Potting Shed Mystery Series, which takes place in London and features gardener Pru Parke, a Dallas native who moves across the Pond. Wingate’s Birds of a Feather Mystery Series, features Julia Lanchester, a tourist manager in Smeaton-under-Lyme, a small English village. Wingate has also author several gardening books.

And of course, many more Cozy Mystery authors can be found on my Cozy Mystery site.

Four New-to-the-Site Cozy Mystery Authors: Vickie Fee: Liv and Di in Dixie, Julianne Holmes: Clock Shop, Catherine Lloyd: Kurland St. Mary, Joyce Tremel: Brewing Trouble

February 21, 2016

It’s that time once again… time to add new authors to the Cozy Mystery site! As usual I am posting authors who Cozy Mystery readers have recommended to me. I’m always looking for new-to-me Cozy Mystery authors to try (with the hopes of adding them to my favorite authors list) so it’s always a pleasure to post authors who look really promising to me.

Vickie Fee – Vickie Fee grew up in Memphis, but now lives in upper Michigan. She earned her degree in journalism, which she put to good use reporting in a number of small newspapers. Her Cozy Mystery series, the Liv and Di in Dixie Mystery Series, stars party planner Liv McKay and her best friend Di Souther, and is set in the fictional town of Dixie, Tennessee.

Julianne Holmes – Besides being a Cozy Mystery author, Julianne Holmes is the director of a service organization for theaters in the Boston area. She writes the Clock Shop Mystery Series, starring an expert clockmaker named Ruth Clagan who lives in Massachusetts.

Catherine Lloyd – Though Catherine Lloyd now lives in the United States, she was born and grew up in London, England. Lloyd writes of her birth nation in the Kurland St. Mary Mystery Series, a historical Cozy series set in the 1810s in the small English town of Kurland St. Mary. The series features Miss Lucy Harrington as its sleuth. Major Robert Kurland helps Lucy with her sleuthing.

Joyce Tremel – A former police secretary, Joyce Tremel now writes the Brewing Trouble Mystery Series, starring Maxine “Max” O’Hara, a certified brewmaster and owner of the Allegheny Brew House in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. With that in mind, it’s also no surprise that Joyce is herself a Pittsburgh native!

These authors (and many, many more!) can be found on the Cozy Mystery site.

Four New-to-the-Site Mystery Authors: Susan M. Boyer: Liz Talbot, Kay Finch: Bad Luck Cat, Cheryl Hollon: Webb’s Glass Shop, Anna Lee Huber: Lady Darby

January 22, 2016

Well, it’s that time again >>> time to add more authors to the Cozy Mystery site! As usual I try to post recommended authors Cozy Mystery readers who comment here on the site have told me about in comments and letters, so it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise if site “regulars” have already seen a name or two of these authors. I’m trying to add authors more frequently, with the goal of one post like this (about) once a month. We’ll see if that ends up being a reasonable possibility…

Susan M. Boyer – A South Carolina native, it’s no surprise that Susan M. Boyer has set her Liz Talbot Mystery Series in that scenic state. Her first book in this series won the prestigious Agatha Award! The series features Liz Talbot, a private investigator who just so happens to see ghosts!

Kay Finch – A paralegal in Houston, Texas, Kay Finch has used her professional career to good use as inspirational material for her two series. The Bad Luck Cat Mystery Series stars Sabrina Tate, an aspiring mystery author and her black cat, Hitchcock. Her Corie McKenna Mystery Series stars a private investigator.

Cheryl Hollon – Cheryl Hollon was once an engineer living in amazing places like England, Australia, and Taiwan, but now she’s fulfilling her lifetime dream of writing full-time in Petersburg, Florida. She and her husband create glass artwork, which is highlighted in her Webb’s Glass Shop Mystery Series. This series stars Savannah Webb, a glass shop owner in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Anna Lee Huber – Anna Lee Huber earned a bachelor’s degree in music (with a minor in psychology) and  began writing after spending a brief period as an administrative assistant. She has lived in many places throughout the United States and now lives in Indiana. Her Cozy Mystery series, the Lady Darby Mystery Series, is set in 1830’s Scotland and stars the wife of a deceased anatomist.

And of course you can find these authors and many many more on the Cozy Mystery site.
